As a quilter, I don’t think you should feel bad about potentially turning a quilt into something else. Quilts should be used, and sometimes that’s their best use! We won’t loose that era of quilting - there are archives and museums that specialize in that kind of thing. And even commercial quilts were sewn by someone (even in a factory). Just my 2 cents! 😁

There are also several patterns that are super duper common in quilting, so if it's a pretty basic bunch of squares or triangles stuck together with colors and patterns you like, just use it! Part of the original point of quilts is "use every scrap of fabric we have" so making a quilt into something else is really just being faithful to the base intent of quilts anyway.

@@ShaySaysSo Someone donated it, so forfeited their "rights" or whatever you want to call it. It's yours now so you can do what ever you want with it. Some people buy clothes and blankets just for the fabric and make quilts and other things
@@sarahkinsey5434 I know, but if we all modify vintage clothes future generations will not get to see them as they really were. I get really excited when I find something really old that hasn't been modified / repurposed overtime, but of course it's only clothes and there's plenty

The scarves are absolutely gorgeous!
First of all I would love to have a jacket made out of a quilt like that it would be so pretty you look adorable in it..... In that fairy is so cool don't you love friends like that but just know you.... I also loved all the different fabrics in I'm getting them from sheets and curtains I do enjoy sewing by hand but I got to get my sewing machine fixed it's much neater than my stitches thank you for sharing everything but green candlestick is awesome.....
Oh yeah and I forgot the scarves oh my goodness I love scarves I have quite a collection......

I love your videos!!! Whimsigoth is my favorite aesthetic to look for because it encompasses my love of bohemian, cottagecore, romantic gothic, vintage, and medieval/ fantasy themed.
I’m really happy that you do a variety of content. I enjoy crafting videos from time to time but love styling/creative thrift hauls/ putting together lookbooks or inspired outfits more. I used to love to watch Rachel Maksy but the past year I’ve watched less and less because most of her content is becoming less “let’s dress up and style some clothes!” to more “let’s make something!” Which is all fine and awesome but not my number one interest. So I’m really happy that you do a mix! I love seeing what people find in thrift hauls ☺️

Haha and I’ve known so many like that. I feel like there’s a distinctive through line. The emo teen to whimsigoth adult pipeline is so real lol. There was probably a cottagecore phase in the middle of that and the whimsigoth is just a balance between them 😂

May I suggest our antique co-op or consignment stores. In Sutter Creek we have Creekside Shops with 20 dealer spaces and Blondies consignment store very good for hats and steam punk style items.
I worked at a similar to goodwill store and damn, we let people sift through racks and bins as much as they wanted. Less for us to put away.
Id be interested if you have any scrapbook paper decor or craft ideas. I buy the pretty paper but I'd I what to do with it.

Oh wow really? Was it categorized in the kid’s section? I noticed at this store the kids books were mostly 1.99 and under but that could be unique to the store. I’ve noticed each goodwill prices differently depending on the management

I learn so much from watching your videos. I'm 66 and I have been a reseller for many years. Lately, I have been thrifting dark academia decor. Do you have a video about dark academia? The brass candlestick holder originally had a floral frog in the middle. But that's an easy replacement.

Ugh. The made up word "whimsigoth" is so cringey. All these made up "sub genres" need to end. Why does everyone need one of these words to wear something? How about you just wear it because you like it? Not just because it's "whimsigoth"
Makes it easier to look up when you’re looking for inspiration 🤷♀️ a lot of people appreciated having a word to describe the style they already had. Not everyone is wearing it just because it’s “whimsigoth” That’s how language works and has evolved over centuries. When we don’t have a word to describe something specific (instead of having to use numerous words to express a specific idea) we come up with a new one (sometimes a combination of words to express an idea) to describe it. All words are made up in the end, otherwise we’d still be grunting in caves.
I personally think saying whimsigoth is so much easier than saying “a style that’s kinda dark bohemian whimsical but also kinda grunge goth with a crystal witchy fairy feel to it with jewel tones and mixed texture” - rolled off the tongue better. And I think there is nothing wrong with inventing new terms for super specific things to help with the ease of expressing an idea.

I would love to find out who made that comforter and pillow case it is super cute! I feel for you I organized my Vintage Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite Bedding sets it is a lot it was spread out I naively thought it would fit in 1 bin .... 3 later it is almost all in a storage bin. I know lots of people use the vintage flat sheets for making clothes. I have a fitted Herself the Elf sheet that the elastic is a bit worn I will be making something with it maybe. I think Rachel Maksy made a Silke (sp?) dress recently it turned out super cute.
