Are you powering those 12V LEDs directly from the motor wires on a 6S? That part confuses me a bit... I was buying BEC-boards to give them a solid 12V supply from Vbat directly....
According to the manufacturer and website these LEDs are rated from 12 to 24 volts. It also says 12 to 24 volts on one of the pictures on Amazon but on the description it only says 12. But that's good that means that there is some headroom for most packs.
Nice how there were no Spec7s harmed during this video! We don't want the Audubon coming after us! So get the 12v COB lights and wire them to any 2 motor pads on the ESC of the same motor on 6S? Thanks Jon E5!
You showed the COB strip was rated to DC 12 V but powered it with a 6s LiPo. No problems? Also Can these be powered either from the motor pads or direct VBat?
I ran these off of 5S, they for sure work well on that. Possibly because we typically only power them up for 2-8 minutes at a time. Also they light up as motors are spinning, so they probably dont put out full voltage unless you are at full throttle which we may only be doing for a second. I got the recommendation on which strips to use from the street league/spec guys.
I guess the better way would be to use an adjustable BEC (so that you could overvolt the 12V strips) with 'off' pad and wire that 'off" pad to a spare FC GPIO, then you'll be able to blink them and turn them on and off from the radio.
FlyHighFPV has a great set of LED strip for quads.
This is the same!
@Rckid28 excellent lights
So are the two wires attached to different motor pads or is one going to a motor pad while the other goes to ground?
They are so bright, you can see the blue tint on the concrete below! That's pretty cool!

I am running to 5S motor wires here, but also used 3S, and 6S. On 3S its not nearly as bright.
These little cobs can handle way more voltage then they are rated for. And soldering to the motor channels keeps the build simple.
#metoo APHI FPV! confusing as fak! lol!
@@leadfingers , but what about the numbers...!?
@@metrallofpv1722 We can argue about made up spec sheets from Chinese manufacturers or we can go fly. Put the LED's on the drone. 🤣
I followed this tutorial and am very pleased with the outcome. Im using the 24v strip on 6s and it looks really bright. Thank You so much !
hey thats great, thanks for letting know it worked. love that setup for sure.
10:55 - 11:05 , You've got the "ghosts of bi-blades" following you around again!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍😍😍😍😍
Wow lighting up the whole area everywhere you fly, super bright! Nice
I think you are the only one doing an led strip tutorial 👍🏼
i promised it a while back, and didnt think anyone wanted to see it, but glad i put it out, much better response than i thought

Got it I read below and found d you answered it already. Thanks!
Just in time for my new build.
These sort of LED lights, how much battery power do they recover?. Are they going to reduce the amount of flight time you get drastically?
Those snips look like the ones that come with an Ender? Use mine for everything. Nice tutorial :)
FlyHigh leds are the best hands down
Hey how good is this drone, what battery and what motors Nd howmuxh flight time you get at approx what speed?
Pretty dope man!!! Gonna have to run some of these leds on my 5inch!!!💯

Interesting idea. These light up when motors are spinning currently, but would be a cool way to add some functionality to a non-addressable LED.
Awesome! Thanks for the tutorial, Jon! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I was told to wire directly to the positive and negative pads. Is that a bad idea?
It would work also if only doing 1 strip
@JonE5FPV awesome. I've had the strip for a month now and havnt installed it. Thanks bro. Hey, subscribed!!
Nice sharing❤👊👍
I Love it!
what bec in this build to step down to the 12v? just the one off the fc?
not using a bec, vbat from 2 of the 3 motor pads directly to + and - of the LED strip.
@@JonE5FPV oh, it uses two phases from esc channel output? weird and interesting. That wont pop an led?
welp now i gotta learn some maths, assumption 1)120 degrees out of phase wouldnt be full vbat else the leds would pop, tbc
@@lackofeffortfpv7412 Been using 4S VBAT on these 12V COB without issues.......

..... Guess what 3 phase voltage of 14.8V is?

About 25.2V!
@@KwongKan im thinking maybe its like peak/vu meter
I'm confused.......... you're connecting 12V LED strip to one (of 3) ESC phase running 6S???
yes, you solder each of the 2 wires to 2 (of 3) motor wires. This is running 5S.
@@JonE5FPV okay....... that sounds interesting.........
BTW I've been running those 12V COB on 4S VBAT, ans 24V COB on 6S VBAT
Good drone ❤😊
what if you dont have the wire ??
Get some wire?
Nice !!
Nice JonE 5
woot woot!
Hahaha 17 beer fridge’s 😂
