- In this video we look at a live intercept of E07 the English man numbers station from Russia.
This was recorded on Wednesday 4th May 2016
At 20:00 UTC, then again at 20:20 UTC.
We also learn something about the station and how its call up gives us an idea of the next frequency to be used.
20:00 - 12166 kHz
20:20 - 10766 kHz
20:40 - 09266 kHz
Call 172
If no message is included there is no third transmission at 20:40!
• Shortwave numbers stat... Try this one, amazing mix of numbers stations
Numbers stations freak me out!
Also excellent recording, lovely and clear sound.
Thanks, yes they are scary things
MrRedstardude war isnt calming
Indeed. Not kidding. If you really know what these are used for, its almost calmly calling death.
Me too they are so scarey
Maybe it's used for high level pedo rings
I like the bit where it goes 1-7-2
You will have 172 likes for that comment.
I don’t know man, I like when they go 0-0-0
I Think EAS does Number stations without sending messages in Sentences but they can be sent in spooky Numbers
Zero zero zero
OnE SeVeN TwO
HOLY SHIT this is still on, OMG can't believe this is on
Billy Emmerling what was the AM station???
James It's only on shortwave
I have a sudden urge to do something
kill the president?
I haven't heard that station since about 2010! Nice catch. It was there for one night and then was jammed the next night and after.
Thanks, interesting stuff eh
What an absolute banger
Cheers Jake
DDR had the same type of spyradio saying out number in the 1980's.
I had it recorded but no more have the tape.
And you can hear it here: Gongs and Chimes Numbers Station (East German 1970s-1990)
“John has a long mustache”
Sweet job on locating that. Just what I was looking for. But why the assumption that it is a Russian broadcast? Nice vid, you got a like and a sub
Thanks very much for the support, I understand that triangulations were performed some years ago showing the signals to emanate from Russia or territories under the control of Russia.
lyrics:
1-7-2 1-7-2 1-7-2 0-0-0
(repeat)
Is the number code, being swapped from day too day or being repeated the same? In my expertise this sounds like indirect distress call.
Hi, they transmit to a schedule monthly, the call up is normally the same with differing messages
Did you break the code Mike?
It was the ingredients to Solyanka :)
+SpectreOZ hahaha lol
Great vid!! best audio quality i've heard! keep up the great work
Thanks very much
Imagine this playing on the radio of alphys car well someone is turning into amalgmate
music to my ears
Glad you enjoyed
I cant understand my thinking but this is what i feel a universe so vast and here we are so close to each other with so many secrets
Humble narrator
*hits blunt*
yeah
4-2-0, 4-2-0. 0-0-0.
Nice! Wondering where you picked this up, just curious.
Sussex UK :)
Wow! I had another number station signal last time as I believe it might be the Australians as where I live is Australia, I received on my sdr there is a strange frequency like beep beep beep and then wind down tone and repeated 4 times then end of message. So that is a very good catch!
What frequency were you on?
@@MikesMovies It is in 4660 khz and everyone freaked.
@@miauwgabriel3547 There was a North Korean number station that used that frequency on its schedule. It stopped broadcasting in 2003 though, so it might not be that.
@@WillLowther Maybe, but I am still not sure.
I was on this station once and instead of 172 172 172 000 I had 273 273 273 000
Yep, different spy 273 and not 172 :)
The voice on E07 I find really creepy. A female voice has been recorded from this station and is on the Number oddities site
Never knew that thanks
Very good catch
Cheers
Hey mate, I'm getting into shortwave radio and numbers stations, and I've been looking for a good radio. My budget is around $200-350. Any recommendations
Can I reccomend you join facebook.com/groups/shortwaveradiostationlistening/ where you can see many of the sets on offer these days
Absolutely mate! Thank you

Helloo, yes times given in UTC and yes thre MFJ 784B is very good and I'd not be without it
What are number stations? I’m new to this. Kinda creepy

Hi, possibly, S06, S11 maybe
Nice video has your QRM now gone? Watch the film vanilla sky with tom cruse 2hr and 3 mins into the film hes killing his girl friend and a number station is going off in the background
Hi very interesting Regards Tim
What’s the translation for this message?!
No way to tell
also what radio is that? i know its a yeasu but i want to know the model
Its an FRG100
I hear them all the time on shortwave spanish numbers then they change freq
That's right, they follow a set routine
I just talked about this in my latest video..as a kid I presumed it was a Russian spy communication of some kind.
people count in spanish also !
This is great for sleeping too,
There coming back because Facebook is too main stream and traceable. Just like I predicted.
+Naturenerd1000 LOL could be
I used to listen to transmissions like this on my Father's BRC-348 Signal Corps receiver. Ive always wondered what the transmitter that these People (Spy's) used?. Was it a small transmitter in a briefcase or a massive radio station that was seized From a legitimat radio station and modified for secret messages???.lol
Hi Eric, the transmissions we hear are no doubt sent from large government run facilities and embassies.
@@MikesMovies Hello, and thank you for your reply. Now that iam older, I can accept that.
My Father was an Amateur radio operator, he had a ham station that was massive. Back in the late 60's, my Father along with the rest of the Ham operators always thought the "Russian Woodpecker" was some sort of Spy operation and used to get angy because the signal that was transmitted always bled on a multitude of active ham stations. I can't recall what frequencies were affected by this, I think it was around the 40m Ham band??? I could be wrong.
Shortwave is certainly a World of unknowns, absolutely fun to explore.
Thanks again for reading!
Why would it be in English?
Many reasons have been offered, to deflect from the real source, Agent is English or the target area is not English speaking so minimising any overheard transmissions?
Such strange inflection
can't wait till someone figures out how to decipher these things
Dakota Loven It'll be more difficult than it sounds, since most code is by current military intelligence agencies or pre and post cold war messaging most decoding would be difficult without the proper information on cracking it.
Armono Deluca With these scenarios, I like to apply the Infinite Monkey Theorem in which if an indefinite number of monkeys slam away at a keyboard, one will eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare. Same with these. Just keep going at em until someone gets it.
Dakota Loven can't it's one time use. The key changes everyday. From what I read the get a book. With the key. So let's say the numbers read are 723. Those correspond to other numbers. You then either add subtract the corresponding numbers from the read numbers and the resulting numbers match letters. In addition the messages are short most likely vague orders/info. Also the letters could stand for something we don't even know. For example let's say the let's are TOLAL. The spy might know it means go to the la lakers game etc. so basically the key changes daily and if we capture the spy he won't know the key so he can't even tell us what it means.
People have, but won't tell.
People that do crack them ( Almost Never ) never say anything.
I dont wont know where the com from and remove the mystery
nice video.
+Mike Troina Cheers Mike
+Mike Troina I did that some long time back lol
HE'S SAYING 172 THEN 000. YW
Any clue on what this messages is (deciphered?)
It is unlikely that it is possible to break the code. Usually such transmissions are done using one-time pads, which are by definition unbreakable.
was a null message so didn't send a message
In this case it was a null or no message hence the 000 000
Was he just trying to make contact with the other person?
1 7 2 is cool.
doesitintrigueyou?uwannaknowwhatitmeans??
Pity it was a null message.
Indeed, thanks for watching
Scary
Indeed so
Imagine if a sleeper agent heard this😅
I am sure they will have done
please explain how exactly 172 leads you to know the next frequency. thanks
+Leonard Vasquez Hi if you look in the video description box above its all set out for you. Thanks
+MikesMovies hi, still not sure how 172 tells you the next frequency, sorry, but it is bugging me i need to know, thanks
+Leonard Vasquez LOL OK, the call is 172, look at each of the frequencies to be used. First one is 12.166mHz so there is your one, next is 10.766 mHz so there is your seven, last one 09.266 so there is your two. So if you happened upon any of the transmissions, you would know depending on time which way to tune to find the next. Does that help?
Hallo
1:16-1:34
wtf
I broke the code; it said "i need toilet paper, you assholes"
1-7-2 0-0-0
ua-cam.com/video/AmMCJlTQxiY/v-deo.html Try this one, amazing mix of numbers stations
0.0.0 lol
So what's creepier, a numbers station or a ghost ship? Answer= Joe Biden taking a picture with little girls and grown women! - LOLOL LOLOL LOLOL !
Trump lost.
My take is that countries will continue to use old school tech because just about every new invention has serious privacy issues involved. Cellphones, laptops, desktops, tablets all have back doors "injested" into their systems. In other words, forget privacy, and that's for the average citizen. It's a wonder why anyone would want to use any of that junk because of this. As a ham, I can tell ya there are some very serious restrictions involved with shortwave, however, it remains the most private and intriguing of options. Curious topic isn't it. VY1 TG. Canada
Hi, I think you are right, it will all come back around to HF in time. Lets hope PLT won't destroy it
