Just turning 40 today and although I haven't lived as long as I should have to appreciate this song, it will forever live through others and myself who grew up living and feeling lifes moments through friends, family and experiences. Now with a family of my own, looking back and forward from the past to see where my future takes me and mine, I find it easier to forgive, forget and find peace of mind within it all. When it's expressed that music is life, well it's the music of life through the living experiences to allow one to understand Who they are, How they have gotten where they may be and Why they feel the way do when choosing morales of life about themselves. My advice is if you feel you want and need change in you life start by believing that at some point Ya Just Gotta What More, For Yourself and The Life You Have!

I've been a truck driver for over 25 yrs.
I got pulled over in my big truck in Mt.Sterling Ohio doing 74 in a 55.
When the state trooper walked up to my truck...he asked if I knew I was speeding.
I told him I was listening to Roll Me Away & I wasn't paying attention to my speed...
The trooper was really nice...he said that he loved Seger too.
Then he said he had to write me a warning ticket for doing 61 in a 55.
I GOT VERY LUCKY WITH THAT.

this song and many other bob seger songs will forever be in my heart and remind me of my parents. They truly lived to ride. This music was always playing during my childhood and growing up, i am 38 years old now. My parents were constantly going on rides my whole life, from Oregon to pretty much anywhere between here and Sturgis. Mom on the back, with "ROADDOG" (Dad). Dad was a Marine, a Vietnam vet 68'-69', they were married for 42 years. Great video, great pictures. I love all of my parents photos of all their rides and trips.

Lord, Lord! You missed out. Ain't nothing like listening to this music flying through life on a Harley. Especially when your baby owned 63 Panhead, and you owned each other, life was beautiful and kind and Bob Segar, was forever along for the ride. It was amazing. All of the bands back then. You could always find a song that broke your heart or made love to it ... God. Those times are gone. Mainly because everybody thinks they are supposed to hate everyone else . How sad. How unbearably sad. I pray that this music never dies and that there will always be people who keep it alive. I know my kids will.

Love this song. I can't get enough of it. I'm 70, retired, and have a '05 Heritage Softtail and will be rolling away on June 15. First stop at USAF Museum in Ohio, then Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Bay, Wi then Wheatland, Mo to see some friends then maybe Oklahoma (Route 66?) I guess it's one of those "Man Things" that this man doesn't understand.

when my husband retired from the AF at the age of 40, he bought a Harley and just TOOK OFF when he was released. He stopped cutting his hair or shaving. He was just taking his time traveling, heading to Bay City, MI to see his parents. He was in a tavern one night and met a girl who needed a ride, and he said sure. He took her all the way to MI with him on his Harley. He has no idea who she was, they never exchanged names even. He dropped her off and she was very grateful and offered to let him spend the night, but he wanted to press on. He really missed his family and they had NO idea he was coming home after all this time. This song always takes him back to those days. I've seen Segar in concert and he's AWESOME. Ship of Fools is my favorite song. Makes me cry to this day. He's almost 70 now, and if he hears this song always recounts this passage from his life.

He's a legend in the music world i had the opportunity to see them live it poured and all those people left that's when he played for about 3500 people he did nite moves and as he sang the lightning struck and waited on the thunder in perfect time it gives me the chills still. Scranton Pa they even had a write up in the paper. Only the die hard people had the privilege of being there great times.....

Loved my GoldWing Coast to coast until it ended badly. Now Roll Me Away means roll me away on my wheelchair. Wouldn’t be alive to tell the story if I didn’t have full gear including Kevlar in my jacket, and full face helmet. Been riding forever and would never get on a bike again. Agony wasn’t worth the fun. Lucky to be alive.

A lot of Bobs songs were used in that movie. However on the DVD of MASK. Bruce Springsteen contributed a lot of his songs in the MASK movie. They said that he ( Rocky Denis) liked Springsteen better than Seger.

I remember when I was a kid sitting on my uncle's lap he was listening to Bob and sbb. I always remember that is how i know my love for music came from my family i was 9 of 10 kids so I have had heard so many generations of music and now pass it on to my grandkids. I bought a second hand acoustic guitar in a antique store its from the 60s for my granddaughter and she's learning to play. One day I wish all the youth could appreciate the beauty of our music. Its not about screwing n guns killing n drugs . Its just stories of people and adventures of life.
