it's simply beyond me how a true master like this can be so unrecognised. i mean, over here in europe (germany), this guy is virtually unnkown (can you believe that?!). plus, seeing as (as far as i know) there are no recordings of his with some of today's jazz giants, he doesn't seem to be extremely well known (as he'd rightfully deserve, of course) in the U.S. how can that be? i mean, this guy is clearly a monster, no short of some of the greatest names in jazz guitar today. mindboggling...
Clint toured with the great country star Merle Haggard for 10 years. He is quite eclectic. Sadly there is a lot of politics even in jazz. He is a big influence on my playing. If only I wasn't so lazy ha! Ha!
Clint was famous for playing with Merle Haggard in the 80s and Freddie Powers as well. Look up Austin City Limits with Freddie Powers. He’s done many things that I don’t know about but he also played with Joey De Francesco I believe. I spent a bit of time with him back a ways and remember many licks and metaphors from him. He walked in a music store one day in Redding California with Howard Roberts himself. And let me just say even back then Clint would pick out the cheapest worst playing guitar there was and rifle off jazz licks that would make Joe Pass blush. Clint may not admit but I call it a level of genius.
/that's the bridge for 'Dirty Ol' Bossa Nova', right? I remember learning that too and thinking, 'how does something so simple sound so hip?' I've since applied the lick to different tunes in different keys, and it always sounds elegant. Really enjoy Clint's playing-he's a 'definitive' player and i'm confused as to why his name isn't a household word.
Loved the work he did with Freddy Powers on "After Your Gone"... probly the most tastefull work he has done.. I wonder if he and Lenny Jammed when He and Lenny were in Nashville way back then?
that is the weak point of a parker fly guitar. i have one and if it broke right there i would never glue it back together and hold it on a strap, even with dowels, because it would break again.
+Linley Constant Looks to be a Parker Fly Deluxe. I have one exactly like it, even the color, that is a 1995. They are light as a feather, have stainless steel frets, locking tuners, etc.
Great advice from a great player, and his admiration of Howard Roberts, sure shows his superb taste
Hello Clint. Love your playing. I have such fond memories of playing music together, back when you were just a kid. Jim Stinnett
Clint Strong knows what he's talking about. His advice about going slowly fits everything I've seen in my "woodshed."
Wise words from one of the BEST guitarists I've ever seen and heard, in any style!

Carsten Neugebauer So true. He's a boss.

We all know Clint in Texas. He is the best jazz guitarist and a darn good teacher too!
Wow. This man is a beast on the guitar. Even the way he talks has chops in his voice. Great upload, thanks for sharing!
Phenomenal musician!
I saw him play when he was just barely in his teens...amazing even then...he was also at the Dallas show then.

Hi Clint,

if anyone knows how I can find Clint please advise thanks
te next part?
from what doucu/workshop.. is this?
It looks like the upper "horn" (the upper cutaway "curve") was, at one point, broken off from the rest of the body of the guitar(?).
Just a crack in the finish I think

One of the best guitarists ever AND he’s playing a Parker Fly?! Come on
Maybe it’s lite and he has back problems.? weird but still really good guitars … oh wait he’s getting paid to play that..
I'm a big Clint Strong fan, but that intro to ATTYA is not quite the way Hank recorded it.
