Definitely an interesting game! You might like Alek-The lost kingdom, I know you covered it a few years ago but there's been a few updates since then 😊
This game needs fireworks, radio, steel utensils etc type of things to distract zombies. Like state of decay. That should be one of the best way to navigate when you're on foot.
I repeat it here and on another game with this inventory list. I much prefer the 7 days to die style view. As well as the fact that I can carry the improbable in a backpack. #teambackpack.
it seems to me the game has loot overkill going on. yes im sure on some level some of it will be important at some point. but it seems at least right now a good 60% of it is actually worthless baggage to be lugging around.
Which items? Do you have a few examples? The only thing I could think of were the cutlery and cooking spoons, etc. Everything else seems to have a ton of usefulness, and even cutlery is useful in an RP sense. I have full table settings laid out in my base. It just adds a nice touch of comfort in the Post-Apocalyptic world. 😅
sadly devs gave up on game at least for the past few months and into the unknown future- so there are no foreseen updates, instead they added an admin command that allows you to give yourself pretty much everything in game.

Admin commands have been in for awhile now, and they most definitely have further updates planned after the holidays, so make sure you don't go spreading misinformation about a game in active development.
