what a great journey! watching from kenya and am amazed at the beauty along the way. dont you worry the roads will be fixed. the car has great acceleration ....i admire that. you are religious too...keep going bro we are together.
Thank you my Brother come visit Southern Africa, I look forward to coming to Kenya one day. The Roads are getting better by the day!! thank you let's keep going forward with Jesus!
You never showed a single town or city! Only the road it would have been. nice to see the changes. I haven't driven that road for over 25 year since I left my home country . But news to hear that the Beit bridge border crossing hasn't changed at all with a 3 hour experience . Drove that road so many times from Harare to JHB. Durban and CapeTown. Not in a fancy Mercedes but in a Mini Cooper S and later in an Austin 1100
@@TIM87648 Some landmarks on the way would be a good addition to the vid .. The lion and elephant Hotel , the brick yard chimney stack in Umvuma . I think the name changed to Mvuma . Monomotapo Hotel . My first project while working for a mechanical contractor, I see that there have been many changes in Harare since I left . Harare is a better looking city today then when I last visited in 1995. The last time I was there before I left for the US. Maybe a bit further to my high School in Sinoia ( Chinhoyi) where I graduated in 1969 , and the Sinoia caves.
I feel like you could have included more information when you're passing places like towns, keys points in the route like toll gates and different provinces.
I drove to Zim in April via Masvingo, it's the worst. I had to come via Bulawayo it has a few bad spots but definitely nothing compared to Masvingo Road.
Ma1 Wangu!!!😀😀😀😀😀 Zvichaita though I just came back 4 days ago zvinenge zvava kupera. Beitbridge via Bulawayo Gwanda also has some issues too. I used Masvingo up Gwanda route down, Keep well!
by the way toyota landcruiser is the best offroader that have ever used...infact nothing comes close...in fact the MLs, BMW X series ,AUDI Q series even the prado are just suvs by name, in comparison to landcruiser. from my field experiences though.
To be honest I think you highlighted the good points in South Africa and highlighted the worst when you hit Zim. But then I am just biased. I mean really you chose a Merc when you knew you would be doing lots of off roads. Still you did a fair balancing act
Thanks very much for that feedback! I think it's always the shock of being out of your comfort zone. The longer I drove in Zim the more I began to acknowledge the work being done on the road which will continue. I should be doing this again at the end of the Month, I will provide an update.
Thank you very much! Unfortunately or fortunately I drive a 5.5 litre so I am the wrong person to ask about fuel consumption😃. . But to answer your question I used 1 and a half tanks which is about 145 litres. a Normal sized engine should used about 80-90 litres in my estimation sorry I'm not an expert. But distance is about 1100 km so if you fill up in JHB and top up in Muisina you will be more than fine.
Bruh my dad left me an s320 airmatic and im doing it up. It hasnt moved for 20 years. Along with 300e 4matic. He died at 72 in 2002😢😢 What was your litres per 100kms sir
Firstly, sorry about your Dad Brother, sounds like he lived a great life. I was doing 10.9l per 100km at best and about 14l per 100km inner cities. so 10.9l was good compared to the normal 16/17l when i am doing maround😂😂😂 All the best Bro please film and tag me

I've driven all those roads. Beitbridge is worst of allainlg because it goes via Masvingo which I.... 😂😅 Bulawayo ones is most scenic as I always drive to Zim in December. By Gwanda, West Nicholson etc there it's lekke. The topography etc it's just pretty But for smoothness of roads, less traffic my wife and I always do Joburg, Sleep in Francis town then belt it to Harare next day which is just 600 kms Trouble is there is sweet folk all to see in Botswana on that route. It's very flat and looks the same😢😢
Thanks for the video. Single lanes and dirt roads can be found in Kenya too. I laughed when you praised the architecture of the tunnels. Africa has a long way to go. Thanks for sharing. I won’t be using the roads to travel from Johannesburg or Gaborone to Harare. Too primitive for me. Especially crossing the border.
Thank you for the feedback and you are most welcome! I need to experience driving in Kenya! hahaha where have we seen tunnels going through mountains! we have a long way to go and I need to visit Dubai! Crossing the border is actually a much improved experience and I must say the road once you cross to Zim is now much improved! I drove it 3 weeks ago and must say much better experience. Keep well! Embrace the Border it is part of the Journey!🤣
You complain about the roads but you don't want to drive when they are being fixed. You drive on dirt roads without a spare tyre. Who plans a journey without a spare tyre or its equipment? I do not think you are fit to be driving such distances
Thanks for the Feedback! I had never had the experience of a car whose nuts for a spare wheel are different to the nuts for the original tyre! I lived and I learnt. But you are right, better planning could have gone into my journey. I have since gone back on the same road, the road is improving, and I have no hitches! keep well.
