You guys are doing great homesteading. Didn't want to buy a press to try getting syrup from our regular field sorghum. We're trying it out this week in the midwest, Thanks for the how to vid!
Thank you so much for this. I have sugar stored but wanted something sustainable for when/if the sugar runs out. I'm south of you in the Panhandle so sorghum will surely grow here, too. ❤
@@waldenfarmacy Thanks, I ended up using an Emril juicer I got from Walmart on sale very cheap. It worked out great, ended up with about half a gallon of syrup. Thanks for the great idea. It was a lot of work, I'm thinking this year I might buy a proper cane press and grow a bigger patch.
@@waldenfarmacy thanks for getting back with me....one more, do you grow skullcap and st John's wort? I live in Cullman and would like to make a trip down there soon to purchase some fresh herbs. Skullcap starts losing potency very quickly, so I need to purchase fresh.
@@christyeddy3199 we do! Www.waldenfarmacy.com/shop we have skullcap as a single you could order under “custom blend,” but it’s not listed by itself on the site.
I have a second question. How many stalks to produce one quart of juice? I don't think that you addressed this. Also, in your opinion, would a cider press work for extracting the juice from the cane? You also mentioned a sugar cane knife could be purchased online.Where?? Any chance of putting a link?

I know this is an old video, but I really enjoyed it. It looks like a lot of work, but simple enough and probably delicious!

Nice work. Thanks for sharing you knowledge.
Excellent job. One question - how many stalks didn't take to make what you had in the jar?
Probably about 15.
We love your videos. Please make also herb farming videos. 🤗🥰
Is it possible to chop and blend the raw plant with water, then run through the cheese cloth if you don't have a juicer?
Exactly what I was looking for do you sell seeds? Or if not where did you get your sugar drip seeds?
If take green off top while billing it would look and taste like molasses
So can you not use a hand mixer on it after the boiling part and whip it into sugar crystals like with maple syrup?
Found you on Rob Greenfield
So glad to connect!
This is so cool, looks like it turned out great! Which juicer do you have?
Champion

Will sugar cane grow in arkansas?
zone 7 and lower sugar cane will not overwinter. There is one sugar cane that is cold hardy in zone 6a and above but grown as an ornamental grass.
Do you grow comfrey?
We do!

@@christyeddy3199 we do, but it’s not harvest time for those. We harvested earlier in the summer and tincture those fresh.
@@waldenfarmacy do you sell your tinctures?
