In Singapore, all Chinese dialects were BANNED on TV and Radio, private TV & Radio stations at all. Even movies in cinema must be shown only in Mandarin, even from Hong Kong. But Indian dialects like Tamil, Hindi, Sikhs were allowed. What is this Hakka dominated government of Lee Kuan Yew and Sons done in Singapore to suppress the Cantonese, Teochew and Hokkien etc. That is against human right violation. In Malaysia and other SEA countries, dialects is allowed,
All the so-called dialects that you mentioned are actually languages in their own right. LKY made a very grave mistake which he regretted befire he passed on. Now young Sinkies can't soeak their mother tongues. It's the same in China. They only know Chinese Mandarin which I am not even sure is really a Chinese language Lolz. LKY did not know that when you kill off a language you kill off its culture. I wonder if his children could speak his hakka. Now few young adults of the Y gen and younger gens know how to speak their mother tongues bcs most parents use Chinese mandarin or English with their kids while they were growing up. This is all very regretful. When parents don't use their mother tongues with their children they are doing a great disservice to their own mother tongues. .
I so much love this song very beautiful words and music can't seem to get it out of my head it makes me sad when i hear it i kinda thought it was a heart breaker song just had that feeling
Min Nan in China is a dialect with no written code. In Taiwan, Taiwanese & Hakka is considered a language with a written code. Taiwanese borrow Han characters & introduce romanization in written code recently. Mandarin Chinese was force by the colonial Chinese under d ruthless General Chiang Kai-shek in 1949 against d will of Taiwan's population. Wen Taiwan gained more recognition 4 independence, Taiwanese & English will replace Mandarin as d Official Language.
It's a Chinese dialect, known by several names: Minnan, Southern Min, Hoklo, Taiwanese, Amoy, Hokkien, depending on who you talk to, Teochew and Hainan (Qiong) also are often classified as Southern Min.
What hokkienese are you talking about??? There's ONLY HOKKIEN. NO hokkienese. You have cantonese/shanghainese/hangzhounese etc but please NO hokkienese!
Wonderful songs......... so nice and meaningful the lyrics... so nice and so emotional the voice...... so nice and so pretty the look.... i am falling in love with the song and the singer.......
I am Taiwanese, but I know that Taiwanese is a variation of Hokkien. Of course, there are variations and different slang. Of course, I have to admit...the Hokkien I hear from Malaysia and Singapore...sounds farther off...from that I hear from Fujian, Philippines or Taiwan. I thought Hokkiens were dominant in Malaysia and Singapore...but somehow, the majority I met from Singapore were Teochiu (who say they are the largest group), or Hakkas. Those who were Hokkiens couldn't really speak it.
Thanks limyangyang for clarifying stuff. I didn't realize that this was a problem in Singapore. I just know that most Chinese I knew from Singapore were Hakka or Teochius instead of Hokkiens...when I was a college student at University of Washington. Those who were Hokkiens couldn't really speak it. One teochiu from Singapore was pro-Mandarin to unify all "Chinese" though...even though, hypocritically she was speaking teochiu to her parents.

There is no such thing as 'Hokkienese'? Hokkien is a Chinese dialect from the region of fujian province, south east of China. There are very few mainland Chinese who can speak Hokkien now. I proudly carry on my ancestors' tradition of speaking in Hokkien, and propagating this to all the fun side of speaking hokkien. Yes, I love this song too. Michael
Taiwanese, for market reasons, most Minnan singers (from Malaysia/Singapore, Mainland, etc.) use Taiwanese terms and accent. "Hokkien" is a name that is only used in Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia. It's actually a bad name: it disregards She, Hakka, Mindong, Minbei speakers in Fujian.

Yeah, I also agree that this version matches better to the music.
@HDVLAD In no time, your children and great-grandchildren have to lookup at chinese people to pay respect to great race. CHINA IS GREAT,

If I'm not mistaken, the national language in Taiwan is also Mandarin, but Hokkien is still widely spoken.^^

This hockien version has a better arrangement than the original .2thumbs up.Is the artist still performing?
agree, the hokkien version gives a more "moody" vibe

Hi limyangyang,
Regarding your "Many younger generation under 25 years had lost mothertongue dialects like Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew."
That's not very true of you to make a claim like that..
I'm below 25 and i can say that i speak very fluently in hokkien, as well as abit of teochew..
My younger sister and all my other younger cousins and newphews knows how to speak fluently in hokkien too..
**not those swearing words, but a real conversation in hokkien**
=P

Nice song and beautiful voice plus wonderful scenery, but what is the song and singer's name.
I like the song although not the original.Whoever wrote this hokkien version, can you give the title to this song and the name of the singer.I am impressed and like to know.

The Mandarin name is HUANG HUN.
Wow
Taiwanese version: 愛人叼位去
Mandarin version: 黃昏
I am taiwanese and I never heard of this? which country made this version? not bad.
i cant believe this is the 1st time i heard a song in hokkien
what a shame
I gotta admit: Xiao Gang's version was nice but the hokkien version is simply amazing.
Very tuneful song with romantic lyrics. I like.
❤❤
chinese song is 黄昏
Han Chinese is China's Chinese. Singapore is Singaporean. Taiwan is Taiwanese. Make sure you see the different!!
I never intended to group Mandarin in the same hierarch level. I know that Teochiu and Hokkien are dialects of Min-nan Hua (Southern Fujian Language).
That's right
I am a Hokkian
May u tell me how to do it. I dun know how to download many song i really like from UA-cam. Pls teach me how to do it. TQ in anticipation.
lolz i love hokkien
Though not understood, I used to listen to some hit hokkien version love songs with my singaporean friends(chinese). I really miss those lovely songs. I remember the super hit female singer later passed away. Can anyone give me some hints to find those songs? Thanks.
HUANG huN!!!! :)
this song is good. where did you find it?
Taiwanese is actually mandarin plus hokkien.
Which is so beautifull. i like it
Taiwanese if any has more Japanese derived terms than Mandarin. Any Mandarin is due to pop culture mixing of languages. Taiwanese is largely Hokkien.
nice song!! Where to download?
I understand neither but I personally think this one is better as well. More like she puts more emotions into the song.
For an outsider like me hokkien has some Japanese touch ...
can i noe the actual singer name? where can i dwnlaod te MP3? Pls advise.
This version is better than the Chinese version
