I had the good fortune to be within about 50 feet from some resting Brent geese, last weekend, in Poole harbour. Had a great binocular view of the 6 geese and a couple of hours later, their number had grown to about 80. The most I've ever seen at once. Lovely bird. Cheers

Great. I tried out the lens over the weekend . I had the first one from Castle Cameras. Very impressive so far but I am guessing you will have the edge overall but we will see. Any ideas where to go ? China sounds great, my Wife wants me to go with her to the Cook Islands ! So much for local accessible wildlife ! 😢
@@CamillaI I think you have the better knowledge of local locations, so I will take your lead on that. I will be interested how the image quality of the two lenses compares, but no doubt the 300 GM has the advantage when it comes to flexibility (300 F2.8, 420 F4 or 600 F5.6) and shooting speed (30 fps on A1 or 120 fps on A9iii). BTW Gas got the better of me, and I also now have an A9iii which you will be welcome to try as well. I have not regretted getting it for a second - in just a couple weeks of ownership it has already gained me a number of action shots I would have previously just missed.
Wow you have been buying Jonathan nice .If money no object then Sony all the way, but this is a great way to get pro results for £2,800 . I have a Video taken in low light of a Robin 4K coming tomorrow on "C&I". This will give you a taste for the quality. Like the A9III this lens benefits from better light but the quality is a step or two up from a zoom lens. For the shoot out how about Figsbury Ring for the Skylark . You have to stick to the paths as it is a restricted bird, but it poses in the air and on the ground and is not too far off. A good test favours 600mm but should be good at 500mm too @@Jonathantuba 🤔

I am not running down the Sigma - as a lightweight and reasonable priced wildlife lens, from what I have heard it is very promising. I imagine you have got for its lightness, as you already have the best with the 600 GM?

Looks like you went on a quiet day but after the heron action everything is going to be a bit dull. When you consider how built up the rest of the coast is Pagham Harbour is a real oasis. Not sure if you've been to Medmerry yet, again, on the right day at the right time there can be a lot to see and it has nice paths.

Once the volunteers don their waders and start wading the channels with rolls of fencing on their backs Tern Island becomes divided from Pagham Harbour like the old days of east and west Berlin. The beach becomes less accessible too, the best vantage point then tends to be the seat at the waters edge down from the Church, quite a distance sadly. Sometimes wonder if it would be better from the other side of the harbour from the holiday park. I'm sure you'll get great pictures whatever. @@CamillaI
🤔I was hoping for closer than that, but never mind we have to protect the Tern's . Miles from the action too at Ferry Bridge in Dorset.@@SurreyAlan
