That Rock crossup is going to be something to watch out for. They gave him actual sauce in this game.
there's lotsa of techs in this game. Air just defence, brake timing, routing for meter and when counter. there's lots to discover. Man, love this game already.

5:34 trying not to nit pick but a cool thing to note is that on the demo moveset for rock we see the air slash move as a rage run followup as well as a rev blow option, seeing as we see no green here and there is a normal version done from rage run we see, it is safe to conclude that is what Rock did there.

It seems that weird crossup kick Hotaru is doing could be based on the mechanic in Real Bout 2 (maybe its in the other Real Bout Fatal Fury games too, but 2 is the only one I've played) where you can manually turn yourself around in the apex of your jump in order to crossup your opponent. You can see her turning around in midair even without going over Terry at 38:00. I don't think this mechanic is mentioned in the official play guide by SNK, so that leads me to believe this is a Hotaru-exclusive mechanic.
Like in that game, I think we're definitely gonna see some super ambiguous left-right mixups with high-level Hotaru players.
EDIT: Took a look at the character movelists SNK has on the COTW website again and yes, Hotaru can turn herself around in midair by pressing the REV Guard button (or E if that's what you wanna call it).
that's how it worked in MOTW yeah, only hotaru and gato could turn around with jCD
Can't believe how promising everything looks already. Can't wait to see where it gets to. I do wonder if jumps could be a tad more aggressive given the plethora of mechanics we have to deal with them and if that'd make the pacing even better. Looking forward to more. jumps do seem a little floaty or “stiff” at the moment but i think as people get more comfortable with all the mechanics we’ll see some good aggression

Yeah there's hops, there's even a hop button now
yes! short hops are done the same way like KOF but also now there’s a button input for them
those matches against hotaru was incredible and i see she still has her taunt poses from garou. Btw where did you get find these matches btw cuz i honestly wanna see them myself

Just waiting to see what Andy's corner tomfoolery is going to look like. With breaking he'll likely still have that on Kuuha Dan. And maybe bring back his Gen'ei Shiranaui.

I think that rock is actually doing moon slicer from his rage run and not his REV blow in the first match, he is not in SPG at the time

Also part of me is hoping with nintendo announcing the switch successor today that CotW becomes a launch title for it. I would not buy it for the system but I can't deny that it would probably sell more copies because of it
