73 year young lady here just follow your video and now my pump is back to new. Thanks great video
This is THE BEST instructional video I’ve ever watched. We have the same pump and motor under the SPARCO brand. Thank You!
Thanks for info Mark, never new the flats were available on shaft my 2nd. Time to replace seal. The first time I used a thin channel lock to hold shaft. Tried using the nut driver to loosen the long bolts to front of mtr. I put as much tork as I dared but was afraid of twisting them off so I did what is not recommended and used a thin blade screw driver to remove ceramic seal. My pump is 12 plus years old and weathered. Thanks again
E A S Y !!! Fixed my pump with the parts I found in the links you provided!! Thank you, thank you!!
This is EXACTLY what I needed to know and see. Thank you.
Thank you for your help. This video helped me compete the job this morning.
Thank you for the video. Very easy after watching.
Great information, I had to do this last year……….THX
Great video! Thank you!
Thanks so much. My housing was loose and I didn't realize it screwed back on
Great video! Huge help!!!!
Thanks
Great video! I had trouble finding one with this kind of pump.
My pump motor gave up the ghost. I have purchased a new motor, ring & seal kits and an impeller while I was at it. With great difficulty (my pump is plumbed with pvc and I didn't want to remove the entire pump thus requiring re-plumbing) I removed the workings from the pump housing back & electrical and brought it inside like you. I have removed all but the diffuser bracket. At some point, the motor got wet because the nuts and rods holding the diffuser bracket in place must have rusted. When I attempted to remove the rods, they simply broke off and the diffuser bracket is stuck to the old non-working motor. Is there any recovery from this or do I simply need to replace the diffuser bracket as well? (Seems now buying a new pump entirely would have been easier and with piecemeal purchases of replacement parts, maybe cheaper. Ugh!)
Thanks in advance for your help.
Spray the broken rods with WD-40 and let it set for a little bit. This should help, however you have to get all 4 rods out. If you can not get all the rods out then you will have to replace. Thanks for watching.
This is kind of a silly question but for the basket in the pump, do you need to turn it in order to remove the basket or does it just pull right up and out?
I tried to remove it just by pulling it straight up and that was a no go. Tried twisting at the handle, counter clockwise, but still a no go.
@@gmontenegro9711 The basket just pulls out. Thanks for watching.
Perfect content! Thanks so much. I need to replace the switch on mine as well; could you tell me where to find one? Local pool shop said I was out of luck.
I have the switch available on our website. Here's the link if you would like to order it.

Thanks for the video..-.
Excellent content. Got our pool in 2020 with this motor. After only about 1.5 months it started making a very loud noise. We were lucky enough to get an entire new pump from our pool company because it was so new. Now, after running the new one for one season it is doing the same thing. They work fine, but the noise is too much. Do you think its from this seal set rubbing together? Maybe bearings? I cant see bearings running out so soon. Anyway, I have a spare so I can do what you have shown here without risk. Just curious if you know why these get louder?
What you are describing sounds like bearings, when the bearings in a motor go out the motor will run very loud. You can have your motor repaired at a local motor repair shop or replace the motor. Get an estimate first, sometimes it’s better to replace than repair. Thanks for watching.
@@HallmarkPoolSupplies I have 2 of these so I am willing to play around a bit to restore the first one and then move to the other. Do you know what bearings this motor takes? I’m guessing a shop that does starter or alternator repair could put on new bearings after I get the motor out. After all, it is just a stator more or less. Thx
The video is great but for whatever reason the replacement seal doesn’t fit all the way on the impeller shaft. I ordered part 354545S but it doesn’t fit over the ridges at the base. . Wondering if there’s a different seal part for my Pentair Dynamo pump
The seal set you have is correct, it sounds like you don’t have the old seal removed completely. Sometimes part of the seal on the end gets stuck on the impeller shaft, it looks like an o-ring. If you remove, the seal will go all the way down. Thanks for watching.
I replaced correctly replaces the seals but it’s still leaking at hi speed. Do I need to replace the O ringer too. They look fine but the difusser O ring is loose and falls out. Could that need to be replaced? Thank you
If you replaced the seal set properly, then I would check all o-rings for damage. If an o-ring is questionable you can replace. I would also make sure that nothing is cracked.
Excelente explicación me sirvió de mucha ayuda
Do u have a part number for a seal kit like u had rather then buying them separately?
Here is the link for the seal set for a Pentair Dynamo pool pump. Thanks for watching.

Great love it
Thank You Sir , i need to separate the filter basket from the pump , my oring is leaking , i have air going in when i turn the pump off its like back pressure pushed the filter basket away from the pump, i notice lot of air bubbles going in the pool while the pump is on , any advice would be appreciated Sir !!Thanks in Advance !!
I would check your o-ring and your lid. You want to make sure that you have a good air tight seal, if not you will suck air. Also check and make sure nothing is cracked (lid, housing etc.) Thanks for watching.
hi, i have 20'x40' inground vinyl liner about 4' to 14' deep. we r not planning to use the pool this summer. & we already removed the old liner . is it OKAY to leave the pool empty the whole year ? we live in NJ btw. we r planning to use the pool next summer. thanks in advance
It would be best to not leave it empty. I would put a new liner in the pool sooner than later.
I brought it to a shop and they replaced pump seals and o ring and inspected everything and said it’s as good as new. Got home hooked it up and still leaks. Other than $500 for a new pump anything else I could try?
Check all gaskets or o-rings for damage, I would also check the housing body or the diffuser bracket for any cracks. Thanks for watching.
Where can I purchase the seal kit?
I do sell the shaft seal set on my website, the link is in the description down below.
Can I order these seals on this same pump?
Yes, here is the link for the seals on the Pentair Dynamo pump. Thanks for watching.

Our lid won't fit back on all the way. Do we have to lubricate the seal?
Lubricating the o-ring is recommended, it will make it easier to put the lid on and take it off, it also adds life to the o-ring.
Silicone lube from the plumbing section of the local hardware store, or from a diving shop (much more expensive).
My pump just like that one hums when turn on why is that??
You need to check the mechanical contact switch (starter) inside the motor. You have to remove the back cover plate. This contact may be stuck, you can pull lightly on the copper tab to separate, when doing so make sure the power is off. This contact is shaped like a V. This should work, if not you may need to take your pump to a motor repair shop. If you need help or have any questions feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help.
The Pentair dynamo pool pump is discontinued from Pentair
Mark, thank you for this video. I had trouble with my 7/16th wrench because it was too thick. But, found another one in tool box that was thiner. Made all the difference.
