Very helpful video showing the new Content Aware remove tool, Scott! I have used it a few times and am amazed at how well it does. Glad to see LR has upped their game in this department. Thanks for your tips and tricks when using this tool.

Thank you for making a video about this and not assume everyone is an expert at Lightroom. This is the first video I've found that explains it in a simple, but precise way. Great video. I learned from it. Thanks. Oh, how do you "refresh"?

Glad it was helpful! Not quite following your 'refresh' question .... maybe I did a Cmd-Z/Ctrl-Z to undo and try the removal again during the video.

The refresh option often improves on the previous content-aware-fill attempt.

I had a large, yellow traffic sign close to the road, and in background a large flat top plateau, in Utah. When removing the Yellow sign, and shaft, there were yellow-smeared artifacts left in the background, and the location of the sign was quite smeared. How can I avoid this, if possible? Not a very good replacement at all. Also, you show going over previous locations: my LR shows the outline, and I can't select that area again. Is there a setting I can change this action? Yours doesn't show the outline of the path, like on the rocks and removing the kelp. Thanks!
    Good video!!

You can try including more of the surrounding area in the brush strokes (paint “outside the lines”). The ‘h’ key will hide existing retouch strokes, so you can repaint over areas to do a secondary correction. The hotkey changes the menu selection in the lower left corner in the retouch toolbar. Good luck.

question? I'm a professional photographer and been using LR since days of LR3 in 2008. What nobody talks about is what does it take to run these new AI & updates. I'm on a 2 TBR hard-drive desktop bought new 6/2016. Also, have a laptop I bought at same time; both are HP's. The newest version of LR that i can run is 11.1 beyond that , they both crash. Desktop PC's / Laptops R not cheap and at the rate adobe is going U need to spend thousands on a new PC every 3 years. My computers runs great, just not in doing LR/PS. So, what is the point of all these new features they come out ever few months with, if you can't use them??

Hi Anthony ... yeah, this is a general problem with software, pre-dating AI. Software gets resource greedy. AI is another agitator that wants more power. I can't speak to feeds and speeds and what could make one as future-proof as possible. I can share that the system I'm running is a 2017 iMac, middle-of-the-road processor (not the fastest, not the slowest), a lot of RAM (64GB, I run video, audio, photo software simultaneously) and a good graphics card with a lot of VRAM. The current tools run reasonably well... I notice some sluggishness when I am 9 or 10 mask layers deep in a photo.

I stopped subscribing to Lightroom three years ago, but I thought I'd watch this out of curiosity. I wonder how you think this compares with similar tools in On1 Photo Raw

ON1's retouching tools are on par. The notion of content aware fill/remove has been a long-standing gap in Lightroom.

Apparently it doesn’t do that good of a job lol, photoshop is supposed to be the alternative from what I’ve heard?
