I Bought The RAREST Keyboard In The World...
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2021
- In this video I do as genuine unboxing of an extraordinary piece of keyboard history without knowing what it really is. Will this be my rock bottom or have I become the custodian of something my children will pass down to their children? Are you as foolhardy as I with your purchases, a category one consumer or are you a spec hound category two?
Join me back here on the 12th of October 17.00 GMT for the launch of pianobook v3.0 check back after then for a link to the *FREE* "Pitched Electric Celeste"

The sheer joy on your face, “it’s a fucking celeste!”, brought tears to my eyes. I hope you have many happy years with your new investment.
Ha ha ha!
Same here, it was such a happy reveal.... much needed after a couple of heavy days this week
im sad cuz ive been hunting for a non-galactic priced regular celeste for ages and this video will now put it even further out of reach ahahah. anyone else surprised to see no sustain? i always thought this was a fundamental part of the celeste..?
It was genuinely the look all parents hope to see on their kids faces on Christmas lol. Awesome!
@@TheCrowHillCo or new partner...
I was legitimately nervous for you before you pressed the keys. Sounds incredible and can’t wait for the sample!
“Sounds incredible”, I was thinking it sounds shitty. Sounds like a cheap Kids xylophone from China, which is not a good place to build sounds from. But I imagine if someone is spending around £20k on a piece of rare vintage crap then people are going to romanticise. But let’s be honest, ears are still a thing - that is a very rare vintage piece of shite.
@@watercolourmark On its own, I agree - it's not the greatest sounding thing in the world. But with all those effects I think it sounds pretty neat.
@@PonzWasTaken - I agree. But we could day the same about any sine sound.
@@watercolourmark Just realized you're just trolling after listening to the music on your page.
@@shouldabeengone - what is your point?
Beautiful instrument! Hard to understand why Fender only made ten of them, after taking the time and effort to develop it ... and it having such a wondrous tone.
"It's a fucking celeste" and the sheer joy on your face is probably the most emotional moment I've seen in one of your videos. And I've seen them all.
To be really honest, I have never been a fan of the Rhodes but i must say this Celeste sounds absolutely gorgeous!
My spending habits on gear is simple, when i've got dosh, I buy gear. Thats why i've never got dosh! lol
Not a fan of the Rhodes? Well I disagree however I respect your opinion as a member of the deaf community.
sounds beautiful Christian - "it's a fucking celeste!" put a big smile on my face - really happy for you that you got what you actually wanted!!!
yeah i really laughed at that, glad it was eh.
The moment you heard it, your irrepressible expression... priceless.
That was when I thought: Pianobook, Pianobook, Pianobook!
A million and one thanks in advance. I'll be there on the 12th.
The moment you lifted the lid, Christian! And then the moment you realized it's a gem! Absolutely amazing! And thank you, as always for sharing this with all of us. Can't wait to play with it! Have fun :D
What a beautiful sound! That nervousness before playing it, followed by your jubilation and glee is wonderful. Thanks for sharing Christian!
It was wonderful to see that kind of joy :D
Really chuffed for you.
The boyish delight when you played it, was so lovely. You deserve it.
Such an inspiring sound.
Okay... when it comes to sample libraries, I am MOST DEFINITELY a Type 1 consumer... especially with Spitfire and another unnamed company! Even though I've not had much time to dig into the libraries I've purchased, I still get more!!
Seeing the look on your face when you realized that you hadn't been scammed was priceless!!!
What a beautiful instrument! I'd have to describe myself as a type two since the world shut down, although I did pick up Symphonic Organ recently. I've had my eye on it since seeing "The House With the Clocks in the Wall" with my kids. ...cheers
I had to stop the video and crack up after your motorcycle imitation!! That was priceless!! Loved it!!! Along with the entire video!!
REALLY looking forward to seeing this on Pianobook! Sounds lovely, (love the sound with distortion!!!) Thanks for sharing this moment!
That sounds absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations to you for getting this rare and beautiful instrument!
05:21 Me when my sister says that the Harry Potter theme was played on a piano
5:21 - best reaction EVER! Not sure, but I got sooo excited when it turned out to be a Celeste. Absolute UA-cam gold, Christian! 👍👍👍👍
What a great video-I really felt your excitement there. Also it sounds so great!
lol love the video and LOVE Christian's face when he imitated a Motorcycle SFX LOL!!!!!!!!
Congrats on 100K!!! And that thing is beautiful... LOVE the colour... and the sound!
Christian, that was absolutely genius. Pitching it down that is. I’m imagining it produces a lot of harmonics post 20k. Your reaction was priceless too. Best video you’ve done in a while. I’m so excited to get the samples from piano book!
Truly an extraordinary instrument. It was a total blast watching you discover its true nature. Many of us have that "bad room" where our unfortunate equipment decisions go to die. I certainly do. However I also have a well equiped toy room and can report that for you, me and many of our friends a bad room is actually required for to have a super happy fun room.
Absolutely beautiful! The look of excitement on your face was fantastic:) enjoy!
looking really forward for the sample pack! many thanks for the video and of course also the work you put in for the sample pack!
That distortion is fantastic, can't wait to hear it amped. Don't get me started on the orange and black ! F**kin gorgeous.
Priceless Reaction!! Love those Moments! 😊💚
Wow that octave down sound at 8:12 IS awesome, and YES, I want the sampleset of that sound!
Sounds amazing through my studio speakers! Can't wait for the sampled version!
Sounds like the instrument that opens Dancing in the Moonlight. You just about play the lick at one point.
Manhattans and ebay were a deadly combo in the mid aughts. That said I do love my '64 AC30.
It's beautiful. I hope it's worth breaking the bank on the current project. Thanks for sharing. You're going to put it on piano book! There's a place for you in heaven.
Your excitement made me smile with you when you started playing. Wow, what a beautiful sound. I've just spent over an hour reading about this.
This is the first of your videos that I have watched. Well done, Mate!
Congratulations! It sounds absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to that sample pack too.
loving these VLOGs. I got so excited when you pressed that first few keys.
Very cool to see one of these played! I used to work for the number one Rhodes tech in Hollywood during Covid. I got to see tons of Rhodes and Wurlitzers and Hammonds restored to mint and I will never forget the amazing time I had there. I had read and heard about this but never got to actually see or hear one!
Dude, that sounds amazing! I want all the samples of this thing, since I'll never be able to play a real one
When you dropped it a couple of octaves!! Amazing!! Just discovered this channel and I love it. Personally, I'm a type 1 consumer! It is a good job I don't have much in the way of disposable income, otherwise every time a new edition of Sound On Sound comes out I'd be buying every trinket that catches my eye!
Somehow your videos are always so awesome and insightful, no matter the subject ! Thanks you for sharing !
Man, as soon as you hit those keys for the first time I yelled along with you, “It’s a CELESTE”! Great sound and that red shell is dynamite
Granted that 90% of us do some impulse purchasing, buying RME interfaces that you *never* use puts you in a different category, Christian! 8-) Congrats on that celeste. It sounds lovely, and I'm looking forward to hearing some of it in Pianobook or other future sample libraries. -Tom
the motorcycle thing at 4:21 had me in tears LOL
I'm a massive Fender Rhodes fan... I can't believe you snagged one of these! Super cool find!
Wow! So cool! The processing that you did is beautiful. Congrats on your purchase :-)
That moment before you touched the keys was full of suspense! :D Sounds gorgeous and I love the pitched down vibe you got going. Subbed :)
It sounds magnificent exactly how it is, effects just cover up the delicacy !
So glad it turned out to be what you had hoped! Restores one's faith in... etc.
Wow ! That octave sampled version is stunning !
Now if anyone needs a theme song for a new early 1980s sitcom, you're all set.
"Trumpet-fiddle"....I need to know more!!
Oh man! I’m so happy for you, your face on hitting those first notes where magic! Absolutely brilliant 🤩 well done you
Loved it - thanks!
5:20 as music lovers, we all understand the big smile he gets here. I love it (:
New to the channel. Thought this was amazing! So glad it was what you hoped for. This video comes out on the day I'm unboxing a Lumatone. Awesome!
Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us Christian! Also, love the antique desk you've got in your studio. The one with the titanic synth on it. My Mum has one very similar. I have been told it's at least 200 years old.
Ha, when you hit that first chord, my immediate thought was, "You NEED to sample that!!!". Beautiful sounding and very Rhodes-like.
Oh,and I'm a serious type 2 buyer. I research the bloody heck out of every purchase and am always available for hire.😁
So pure, loved this!
Sounds lovely. Looking forward to playing one tomorrow with the original speaker cabinet!!!
Thank you for your help in identifying my disease. I have come to recognize it over the years. Even when anticipated that warm endorphin rush from buying new gear is irresistible. It hits the low point for me when I re-buy something I have already owned and sold before. That has happened a bunch of times.
wow thats such a beautiful sound!! i dont think ive been more excited for a pianobook release
Beautiful sound, great purchase !👌
Awesome video from every angle imaginable.
This celesta makes a gorgious sound! Also that distortion. Lovely
Just subbed, almost at 100k mate - we need that sample !
Most suspense I e had watching a keyboard video is ages, congratulations 🍾 🙌
Look at that big ship in the water - I did say ship!
Your sheer joy was a joy Christian. Please oh please 🙏 make a Pianobook instrument for us all to share in your Joy! What more fitting an addition to the new site!!! Cheers 🍻
All these Rhodes instruments have Metal Reeds struck by hammers so they work the same way
Beautiful, and well done! I recently bought a local Rhodes Electronic Piano and had similar nervousness hearing it for the first time, being as there were no real demos. Luckily, it sounds great, and turns out its NOT an ARP 4 voice after all!
Can’t wait for the piano book and the Celest! I’m a type one, so so bad, but sometimes! Yes sometimes it’s magic !
Sounds gorgeous. I laughed out loud at some of your tiny purchases. I was prepared for it to be the most expensive turkey you'd ever bought, but I'm glad it wasn't! Look forward to using the sampled version at some point - I would definitely use it.
Oh so that's where your old trumpet fiddle went, to the Dark Cave of a Thousand Discarded Various Electronic Items and Such - I remember seeing it in an old cribs video and had always wondered! Also that Fender electric celeste has an absolutely fantastic timbre! Reminds me a little of the custom celeste Randy Kerber designed for the Harry Potter scores.
I'm so happy for you Christian! Beautiful instrument!
That sheer joy when you realised what instrument it was literally brought an equal (perhaps a greater) amount of joy to me as well! haha...! 😀
It's absolutely gorgeous to hear...
oh, and I think I am a type 2 consumer... I do take my own sweet time to decide on things. It's both, a boon and a bane.
What a lovely experience to share.
I’m subscribing because I can relate too well with the first half of this video. I’m glad it worked out well for you. I’m a type 2 consumer now. :/
cool, and even cooler when you decide to sample it
sweet and warm tones.. Quality af
I’m so relieved to know that I’m not the only one who buys shit that I don’t need and never use.
I laughed so much at this.
Thank you Christian
That is a beautiful sound.... Congrats!
That sine into distortion... Makes me want to try my Casiotone 1000P and do the same thing...
To answer your question - my main remorse is a small, but cool synth that lacked connectivity so I can't use it easily in any songs. It probably set me back only $150 though, so I'm OK. It's just fun for noodling nothing more...
I have a Kickstarter that hasn't delivered now after 4 years, that is a disappointment, but I think the guy is still actively working on it.
I'm a bit analytical, but I do get convinced to buy certain pieces of gear after hearing a good demo (or two) in context and just a small amount of research. Thanks to that I added two other pieces of 1979 gear to my Moog Liberation....
Casio mt-70 for a poorer man such as I.
Ah, so that's what they used on "Dancing in the Moonlight" by King Harvest. And sounds great!
Now I need to know more about the trumpet fiddle
Really enjoying your content (lovely sounding celeste BTW) especially as you are a little more 'expressive' here than on the spitfire films!
That rug really ties the room together!
Some instruments (guitars mostly) have "spoken" to me and told me "I have a song hidden inside for you!" Other times just the sheer beauty of a guitar can cause me to open my pockets and invite it into my collection,... which by most standards isn't all that much,... just reached 50 guitars and 10 assorted amps (amps tend to be a smaller collection),... but, I in fact do play them all, and most have been recorded as well.
The thing sounds gorgeous!
Amazing thanks for sharing 👏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾
Wow...beautiful sound...glad it worked out. I have found out recently that buying music equipment can be very addictive....I try to do as much research as possible on pieces before buying, so havent had any buyers remorse on any big ticket items......so far...LOL
Love the big kid christmas morning moment.
What a gorgeous sounding passive analog keyboard
“It’s a fucking Celeste!!” That proper creased me up! The involuntary glee explosion 😂😂😂 sounds amazing
This thing sounds awesome, Christian. What a rare find...so cool. One day people will approach Roland Juno Ones and Korg Tritons the same way.
I am so happy for you man, enjoy your new toy ☺️
Sounds gorgeous!
That's a beautiful keyboard, man. What a rare find. Congratulations!
i really like the vibe of this video and i don’t know why
Sounds really amazing!
Christian... are you absolutely bonkers? £16K really? And then I heard it, oh! Then at 8:11.... oh!... now I understand... I love being type 1. Grand purchase my dear fellow.
I could listen to that sound you introduced at the 8 min. mark for hours!
That distortion was so beautiful I almost cried.
Those first two notes you played blew me away.
THAT THING SOUNDS LUSCIOUS!!
