    Hello ASL Heroes!!!
Hey, I could really use your help.
If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

    Thanks!

A funny (albeit slightly mean, but in good humor) chicken joke I once read:
q: "Why did the chicken cross the road"? A: To get to the idiots house... Knock knock (who's there) the chicken.
Thank you for another great lesson.

I can pretty much guarantee I'll be using that joke at some point in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Just recently(cs) learned to use "Lalala" in distances. I read "road bird cross why" as "way bird walk why", as I'm still inflexible and think of sign for road as bent open hands marking edges with CL 3's on them. Oh, shake boots before putting them on, especially in late summer through fall, totally lucky in my area mostly have crickets~~ A video showed "Fly" as "C, apostrophe-A" while tracking the fly, or thereabouts~

Please have Closed Captions so we know what you are saying. Some people like me are just learning ASL. Thank you.

Tip: Start at the beginning of the official ASLU UA-cam master playlist and work your way up -- that way you'll have a foundation in sign and be able to have meaningful conversations instead of just knowing random signs for animals.

I'm not disagreeing that captions are helpful -- but unlike Hearing / voiced videos, UA-cam has not yet developed a way to auto-add captions for ASL like they can do with voiced videos. That means adding captions to signing videos costs hundreds of dollars per video or eats up many, many hours of individually captioning the videos.
I am indeed "working on" captioning the videos.
However my belief still stands that captioning of ASL videos actually detracts from the learning process and method. My students don't have captioning when they take the class live and in-person. They have to pay attention to the signing and learn by watching the hands and using the clues provided in the slides or occasional typed notes. In the end it helps them to understand Deaf people in real life since Deaf people don't walk around in real life with captioning.

I found captions to be distracting. I'm glad this channel doesn't have them. It really challenges you to learn in a real life situation. The website and earlier videos are super helpful in getting started.
