Excellent. As a life long student of Irish history in general and the Irish War of Independence in particular I found these lectures, insightful and helped me to get clarity on some of the background information. . Specific to the period leading up to and away from the Treaty negotiations I am familiar with the main players however much of the background and anecdotal information included in these lectures are revealing and in many cases make sense of some of the big questions , such as Michael Collins reluctance to go to London with the plenopotentiary committee . This is in contrast to the perhaps not well known dissapointment of the same Michael Collins when he was not included in the Summer 1921 delegation who went to see DLG at No. 10 Downing Street. Dr. Anne Dolan and Dr. William Murphy are clearly experts on the period and the people in question and it was my pleasure to have invested the time I did to listen to what was being said. Overall .. a great review of an amazing period of Irish History. Thanks to all for putting it on here in UA-cam.

I can't believe that in all this discussion not a mention of the fact that the Northern Ireland Parliament was already up and running before the treaty was signed. King George had been over to open the NI Parliament in the summer and the treaty was not signed until December The position of the border was not yet agreed . Most people in Ireland don't know this very crucial fact. DEV knew what was available and if he thought that he could arrive home with all his demands met, he would have been there in a shot. He planed to attack Collins from the very start

"troops who did not look for him in a coffin" does this refer to when John Moore in Clones helped Collins escape the British by pretending he was dead- so when the British entered the house they saw the 'wake' happening and left? Ive only heard one reference to this incident. John Moore was my Grandmother's uncle so Id love to know if this is true please
