I'm from taupō and I am from Tri Sport Taupo club. I got the amazing experience to talk to Hayden Wilde and Kyle smith about the upcoming race. They both said their confident to race a great race and have a crack at winning.
It helps that they're both from Taupo and in front of a home crowd... the support for these 2 will be amazing and a HUGE advantage!!! a penalty for anyone in this race and it's game over with the level of competition.
This year has been interesting to see. In my opinion, most of the top athletes, male and female are burned out. It's been a long season. Advantage goes to the athlete that hasn't put in a season of chasing series points.
Bold prediction: Hayden wins by 4 minutes - front group or better off the bike and we see a whole other level of triathlete run away with it. World champs is wild though… just remember last year, the whole top 5 was a surprise really
