I used to live in Raymond, Washington back in the early 1970's. I taught at Willapa Valley High School on Highway 6 in Menlo. Back in 1976 when I began my 42 year long teaching career that old Chevy was only 9 years old. I had a '66 Buick Special at the time. I wore it out and traded it for a '72 Skylark coupe. I taught there until 1984. The high school where I taught used to play football with Toutle Lake High School every year. I know that rest stop well.
Back in 2009 a good friend and I drove his 1965 Buick Skylark coupe from Federal Way, Washington to Colorado Springs and back for the Buick National Meet that year. We had to stay in Twin Falls, Idaho an extra day to get the rear end rebuilt. We needed to re-shim the ring and pinion gear because the last rebuilder hadn't done the job properly.
Dang...been following you on IG and never realized you had a YT channel until I watched the Galaxy video. Aired up the tires on my Caprice today from two tires having gone flat from sitting for so long🤦♂️
Me (Jamie / DeadDodgeGarage,) or Colin (273_Duster) with the Impala? Haha. Colin has made a handful of videos for the channel so far but it’s largely my operation.
Did 850 miles in my 72 Duster the weekend after this in SC. Down to Myrtle Beach and a bunch of cruising. A drive to Darlington Speedway, our charity laps got rained out. But the drive there and back to Myrtle was cool. Six classics and 100+ modern Mopars. Cammed 340 that runs low 12s got 14mpg with the 3.23s. Looking forward to a TKX or T-56.
Welcome to another fond "Bad Ash" memory! At age 15, my older brother tried to give me a '66 Caprice Classic 2 door with a V8 auto. I passed on it, because I was already a Mopar guy. At the time I was training myself to do pinstriping and lettering. I painted the name of "Street Hog" on the trunk lid of the Caprice in the style of the band Fog Hat. It turned out great, but the car wound up in a junkyard. Next, I turned my attention to the old rounded style fridgerator in my parent's garage. I pinstriped the heck out of it! Turned out great too, but my unimpressed parent's sold it. Twenty some years later, my brother was helping a friend move, and in the garage stood the fridge with my pinstripes still intact! So cool! You and Colin are making some future fond memories now. Besides the videos, take plenty of pictures. Sadly, I didn't take enough pictures. Hopefully, my newly invented "Time Machine" app for cellphones works. Otherwise, my blown Hemi Super Bee might be able to take me back in time! I will buy up all the Hemi 'Cudas for $2000.each! Ha ha ha! (He said with an evil laugh)

Love the Impala! We had a 67 as our family car in the 80’s, 327 power glide car, funny thing is that my dad used to brag that it would get 20 mpg on the highway. I guess that’s what they get with that size engine old school or new.

I've not done a video about the swap, no, but I should! I contemplated shooting an intro after the trip to show off the car some but... didn't. Not sure most of the Dodge guys here want to see much of a Chevy. 😅The switch under the hood is actually to turn on the fan manually, the radiator leaks at the seams and the computer seems to get confused about the engine temperature when there's not enough coolant in it, lol. Thanks for watching! It was a fun trip.
@@deaddodgebrother Please do a vlog on your car And the power train transplant procedure 🙏 I think 🤔 most MOPAR guys Can certainly respect A solid Chevy Impala Especially from the 60s
I had a '67 BelAir station wagon at one time. Really liked the car just wish it had some horsepower(it had a 283 2 bbl with PG trans). Found out later the block was one of those blocks you could overbore 1/8" and put the 327 crank in it. Now that was a peppy motor especially since the car came with a 4.10 geared ten bolt rearend(somehow someone finagled a tow package on a 283 station wagon LOL) Used that car to go from Seattle to Denver then Wichita and a couple more years before it finally died. Was a really tough car and the body was still rust-free and straight when I left it at a junkyard. Wish I had it back.

Colin's videography & commentary and Jamies music- good collaboration and made the longer format scoot right along! Find that coolant loss- that radiator glop serms to always fail or plugs up the heater core. Unless you dump in a bunch of them in like the previous owner of my '78 4x4 did to the 318. Block between oil filter and engine mount is pushed out 1/8 inch, bellhousing freeze plugs are full of spray foam, #5 piston has a hole in it, makes only 20-25psi of oil pressure, oil looked like black metalflake paint, and had bald 38's. Bought it about halfway between your town and mine and drove it home. Pulled heater core afterward. The inlet & outlet pipes plugged with Stop-Leak and it weighed a ton- almost no flow.
I've seen some goop in cooling systems before but that's nuts! This car needs a new Radiator, I just need to sit down and order one. I'd rather replace that than have to do another heater core in this car, maybe I'll get around to it soon. @@dantupper1784
