I'm completely new to common rail diesel. Had to clean the EGR and replace swirl flap assembly last weekend. All injectors tested in vida before i started (leak test) and all injectors looked near perfect. Injector 1 however was seized and took a beating. It was coked up all the way, so i removed the nozzle and cleaned it in the ultrasonic cleaner. When i reinstalled the injector the engine ran smooth for 5min and then started knocking extremely hard on cilinder 1. Maybe the beating threw the calibration off, i didn't clean the nozzle enough or perhaps because i re-used the old clamp and bolts. The knocking is extremely loud and the engine almost stalls at idle. On throttle its louder but when leaving the throttle the sound is gone until the injectors are engaged again.
If you have disassembled the nozzle, it is practically impossible to assemble it yourself. And even more quickly, the very, very small shot inside the nozzle will be lost. For gasoline engine I don't know because I working just with diesel engines. But I think this procedure working with all Volvo cars. You can tested and report.
