This is one of the most underrated games Capcom ever put out. It's very visual novel-esque, almost anime in game form, but man does the soundtrack and emotions hit hard when they hit. Keep at it, and enjoy it. There's a reason Asura has been requested to appear in crossover fighting games.

If you want to see kratos fight Asura. Who do you think the winner is going to be, cause to me it's obvious that Asura will win. Kratos doesn't stand any chance of fighting against someone like Asura. If you don't know Asura is their take towards Hindu Mythology here. Which you see why he gets extra pair of arms.

Ah, yes, the living embodiment of "too angry to die". Messing with Asura for any reason is a really dumb idea, and the game is glorious because no one learns this.
This game is hugely influenced by hindu/buddhist culture. A lot of the stuff you'll see is sort of subversion of class relationships/dynamics and tropes within those cultures. Like in Western fiction where it turns out angels and god are actually jerks/tyrants, it's the same kinda deal with this game. In Eastern traditions, arms are a symbol of power, influence, or enlightenment. The more arms you have, the more transcendant a being you are. If you see some art of a deity with dozens of arms, that's visual shorthand for "more arms than you can comprehened", denoting an infinite and perfect entity. Deus is a word for "god", he's basically the Hindu god named Indra, which is based on the same proto-deity that Zeus from Greek spirituality is based on. Indra is a god of lightning and storms, the king of the various devas (benevolent deities). An asura is not a specific character, but a class of being. It's a good fit for a powerful, angry and passionate character that is opposed or in conflict with gods. They are typically depicted as red skinned, angry and powerfully built men with six arms and wild hair who love combat. This is one of the major inspirations for the super saiyan in Dragon Ball Z. The big guy with the sword (Augus) is actually based on a first draft design for Asura, and he's even more in line with the original depiction of asuras. There's a hindu/buddhist myth where the asuras, who loved to pick fights, got into some Gandapana, which is basically Super God Booze, and went on this big drunken rampage. Indra warned them not to beforehand, but they did anyway. When they were passed out, Indra gathered them all up and threw them off the highest point of the world. When they woke up, the asuras vowed revenge on the gods. Basically Asura's Wrath is sort of an eastern version of Paradise Lost, where Lucifer is a more sympathetic and wronged character than what he's depicted in other accounts. The weapon he wields and a lot of artillery in this game are based on the "vajra" shape, a ritual tool and symbol associated with divine weapons. Vlitra is an entity associated with droughts, so here we see it's a being that's basically a natural disaster. Indra killed it in the myths, so we see the forces of Deus (Indra) using his forces to subdue Vlitra. There's more, such as a lot of Asura's character arc having a lot in common with Sun Wukong from Journey to the West, though the details and motivations vary. another cool detail is the Guardian Generals' skin are all meant to resemble a lacquered statue, which is common in hindu depictions of deities. Youll see their skin has a brushed texture of clay. That's intentional. This game's design is so cool.
I hope you got this game and its DLCs before the Xbox 360's online store closed. Otherwise, you'll have to just watch their cutscenes/gameplay. Kinda a big deal because the game's 4th "part"/true ending is part of that DLC.
Oo I’ve seen this game and some of the gameplay and stuff and I thought it was pretty decent looking but I haven’t played it, although I have played Metal gear reveneance and I highly recommend it 😏
36:37 Your mistake is believing you have to be skillful at AAA titles to be considered a gamer. A lot of newbies make that mistake because it's generally the kind of games journalists will push down your throat with their publicity. But since a moment now, most gamers realized AAA games are terrible and overrated, their only appeal is their flashy cinematics with overly polished graphics that will try to impress you to hide the lack of originality of their stories/gameplay. There is actually a AAA fatigue and the real gaming renaissance is coming from cheap indie developers now. You don't need to have super reflexes to be a true gamer, you don't need to play what's trending, you don't need to play what everybody else seems to be playing, nowadays there are legions of different games genres that you will never touch if you keep looking for blockbusters. There are a lot of games genres that don't recquire superhuman reflexes but focus instead on the story, on character development, immersion and will ask for your strategic mind or imagination to progress : RPGs, Visual Novels, Points-and-Clicks, Dating Simulators, Immersive Sims, Real-Time Strategy games, Trading Card Games, City Builders, Life Sims, Puzzle Games, Text-Based Mystery Games, etc. There was a UA-cam reactor that I used to follow, she was a writer of fantasy novels that she sold on Amazon, and she had never touched a videogame in her life, so I thought that was the perfect opportunity for her to discover a World of story-driven games that would rival her experience with books and possibly even influence her own works. There were plenty of titles to do that....But what game did she decide to play? Doom. A FPS of course🙄(pew pew bang bang) I get it that she probably wanted to experience something foreign and new, blowing some steam in the process, but........Do you see where I'm getting at? It's like looking at a cinema newbie thinking she has to watch the MCU or all the famous action movies while there is a European art filmmaker waiting for her to discover that would match her inner sensitivity. Or watching a music listener thinking she has to listen to the last trending rappers and Hard Rock bands of the Rolling Stones Magazine's Top 20 while her inner delicate self is waiting for her to discover intimate-sounding composers like Mompou or Debussy 30 years later. One of your best gaming experience of all time, possibly life-changing (yes, such games exist), might be somewhere waiting for you, but you will never know because nobody told you about it. Just the "Story Rich" and "Choices Matter" categories of Steam are full of ground-breaking stuff. Heck, I even know a bunch of erotic games that were deep enough to send some people down a path of existential crisis. There are AAA games, there for big entertainment, they are the blockbusters of gaming, fun and all until you finish them and move on with your life as if nothing really important happened. And there are games that stay within you even after you finished them because they touched something inside of you that you didn't know was there. Sorry, I hate to be "that preachy guy", but this is a recurring pattern I see among new gamers, and I couldn't hide my frustration. You don't need to be a 360 No Scope MLG pro-shooter to call yourself a gamer. Thank God gaming has evolved over the last decades and the cliché of the fat neckbearded nerd who hasn't washed in 2 months because he was grinding on World of Warcraft is mostly a dead stereotype. There are games for everybody. Don't be scared to explore. Me, I personally prefer short games that I can finish in a single night or in a weekend. Thus why my favorite developers are Devolver Digital. But, like I say, don't be scared to explore new territories to discover what you like.
This game is great. It's really not a good "game" game, it's gameplay really isn't anything special, but the visuals, story and especially the voice acting more than make up for it. It's more of an interactive anime than a real video game, but it's a really damn good interactive anime.
