I've never had a problem gluing clear styrene with model cement. I have this exact model and I used tamiya extra thin cement for everything.

Have you seen the Trekworks build up? Some good tips on there, especially around decals

Don's Light and Magic Decal set for the 1/1000 scale Enterprise B Model Kit is available and they did a much better quality set. DLM makes decals for most Star trek model kits and scales check em out, they even have lighting kits.

Cool. I didn't know about the other changes. That means I can build the Excelsior later on.

I'm starting to enjoy your videos more and more, good information and I like what you have to recommend and where to get the add-on's to the models you are building, I’m trying to get back into building models myself but the cost, food is more important at this time, one day soon I hope to have one kit built.

I had trouble with clear plastic too, until I discovered 'Testors Model Master Clear parts cement & window maker'. It's a glue that dries perfectly clear AND can be used to make windows in small holes/gaps/whatever. Super fun to use, and works really well.

Green strawberry has photoetch you can buy that enhances the kit including the shuttle bay that hides the walls when installed

The decals seem to be a green colour, or is that just the camera picking it up? Looking forward to the build as I'm hoping to start this kit soon myself

And if it is 1:1000 scale, then it will go well with my Enterprise Refit: ua-cam.com/video/X7HuQ7g8uhk/v-deo.html

I seem to remember some aftermarket parts for the secondary shuttle bay in the lower 2ndary hull on federationmodels. Maybe I find the time to browse their pages for it some time soon.
What I can't figure out is why they did the nacelle grilles in clear plastic... neither of them lights up in the original studio model, The upper one is supposed to be turquois-ish and the lower band-like ones steel-colored...

Lol....I was having the same thoughts as you! I left those fin extensions out entirely. Looks better without them. If you look at the Diamond Select version they don't have the extensions either. I also fully assembled my nacelles without painting.

Yes, I was incorrect. It is indeed chrome silver in the movie, although the color does darken slightly depending on how they lit it.

Sure you can use plastic cement on the clear. I'm using the Humbrol in the yellow bottle right now and it's working just fine for me.

I painted the neck and similar parts chrome silver enamel then gave a wash of Tamiya gunmetal acrylic to darken them and accent the grooves.

It's just the crappy white balance on my camera.

This ship would be near impossible to light up.You can't run any wiring from the pylons running from the nacelles down to the primary hull. Its a shame too.

There are holes on the back of the nacelle covers you just have to poke through them from the bottom

Actually, the Excelsior mold that got destroyed in making the B kit was the upper saucer.
The Excelsior secondary hull bottom was one piece. Trust me, I've built both versions of the ship.
The nacelle piece issues result from the differences between the Excelsior and the Enterprise B.
Excelsior's nacelles lacked some of the fin length, as well as not having the top fin.
Sides of the nacelles, as well as the neck, work best in a gunmetal color, actually.

If you can, buy another B kit and use the under side of the saucer for your excelsior..

@doctor Faust’s painting clinic Models Really Sucks TOO Much Work TO Do
I PREFER Diamond Select Toys BETTER
I have a Diamond Select Toys Enterprise B That’s Way better than model kits because it’s Already Prepainted and Assembled And has lights and Sounds from the movie built in, Similar to Playmates Toys.
