- Everything costs more now, but with the price of cocoa doubling since last fall, chocolate could soon become a luxury item. We looked at the price of chocolate Easter eggs at three different stores in New Brunswick, and what we found might surprise you.

I’ll just wait days after the Easter holiday and buy it at a discount.
Retailers know that most of the purchases of these candies and chocolates are parents for their children, and if they don't their children will be upset and they will feel like failures as parents, so they buy it regardless. And because retailers know this, its not demand, its not commodity prices, its pure simple exploitation. The manufacturers know this as do the retailers, they they shrink, and raise prices every year and people keep buying it, pushing companies profits up every year. If consumers want to be heard, and actually make an impact, companies all around the world pay attention to one thing, MONEY. If you don't give them your money it affects their sales and bottom line. If you register a complaint or give feedback, it affects nothing. Consumers that can't afford the insane prices, or don't want to participate, need to go back to the easter celebrations of the past, before all the chocolate and candy. It's still fun, and if needed only buy 10% of the candy or chocolate you normally do. Consumers only buying 1/2 of what they used to will eventually affect prices.
*Consider getting chocolate from Vietnam:* they have *amazing flavours and spice blends* apart from very *bold dark recipes.*
Here in Québec, one can get a number of varieties from *"Marou : Faiseurs du chocolat"* (from cocoa from several sources as well as factories in Vietnam).

Wars and corruption have devastated crops, making it difficult for farmers to harvest in a timely manner due to the constant threat of violence. While weather conditions also play a factor, the ongoing conflicts make it nearly impossible for farmers to tend to their land effectively. It is important to acknowledge the complexities of the situation and provide accurate information, unlike the partial truths often presented by news outlets like CBC. Thank you for educating the public on the true challenges faced in Africa.
Maybe also pay the farmers a living wage?😢
Eat chocolate all year round! Don’t need a special occasion anymore
I have a 100 liter tub of a variety of my favorite chocolates I have bought on sale in the last few years. I want chocolate, I dip into my stash. Lots of M&Ms, mini eggs, Lindt, chocolate covered almonds, Ferrero Rocher, etc. I do the same with coffee, crops also being affected, I have a 2+ year supply of coffee, bought on sale previous years. I also have cashews, crops affected. As long as you store in cool, dark place, sealed, they are pretty much fine.
Can I come to your house?
Don't buy things you don't need.
We need to tighten our belts so much that the companies recalibrate their price sensitivity metrics.
You can buy travel board games of Clue, battleship, and monoploy for $4.75 at dollarama here in Ontario. That would be a great alternative to procey chcolate. You can even play the games together as a fam, over and over. Also neat would be opening a mini lego set, hiding pieces in eggs and at the end they get to build the set.
I didn't pay that much for yummy 😋 chocolate.

I heard carbon tax hike affect all transportation, which keeps driving inflation up
Did you ALSO hear that the Loblaws co. store - Atlantic Superstore - FOR THE SAME ITEM as Walmart was ALMOST DOUBLE the cost! THAT is NOT transportation. THAT is using carbon tax & transportation costs AS AN EXCUSE TO GOUGE - OUT OF GREED at THE EXPENSE OF THEIR VERY OWN CUSTOMERS WHO ARE ALREADY HURTING!
The governor of the Bank of Canada advised that the carbon "tax" (which is not really a tax because 100% of the money is returned) adds 0.15% per year of inflation.
Please dig deeper and don't let yourself be a victim of spreading memes of the Conservative party.
