Jim White leaves Sky Sports News after 23 years

Jim White is leaving Sky Sports News after 23 years to focus on other media challenges.
From interviewing Sir Alex Ferguson, Pele and Franz Beckenbauer, to the collapse of the European Super League, plus countless deadline day scoops, Jim has always been first with the breaking news.
White donned his now-iconic yellow tie on every Transfer Deadline Day to become synonymous with Sky Sports News' coverage.
Mark Alford, director of Sky Sports News, said: "Jim is a first-class broadcaster and journalist. The energy, drive and, of course, stories he has delivered in his stellar 23 years with Sky Sports News is peerless.

Sky Sports has become utterly unwatchable in recent times. Such a pity that it thought ramming agendas, box ticking and politics down the throats of viewers was a good thing. My subscription was cancelled.

This legend is going to be missed. Transfer Deadline Day without Jim White and the yellow tie will not be the same. I remember watching Ford Scottish Football on Sky Sports One back in 1998 when he presented the coverage back then.

I remember watching a young Jim White hosting Scotsport with Hazel Irvine way back in the mid 80's long before he moved to SKY Sports News.
He's been a great servant to Brittish sport for Decades, from his humble beginnings on Scotsport before moving to SKY where he would go on to become the face of Deadline Day.

Good luck for the future Jim, you will be sorely missed and it won't really dawn on most viewers you have left until the next transfer deadline day which you have to admit "YOU OWNED" - i'm having problems now thinking what the next deadline day will be like with you gone, like when Dan Walker announced at the end of the show a few weeks ago he was leaving Match of the day 2 having presented it for years his ending speech where he mentions how the programme had shaped his weekends and the thought of not going thru the same ritual every weekend after doing the job for so long will be so strange, he also gave shout outs to all the staff he has become amazing friends with, all the ex footballer pundits he's ever worked with and then he said but most of all "i'll miss you"
and suddenly for some strange reason i started to shed a tear, i had to google Dan's second name as i did not know it yet i have been watching Motd 2 since it started? how weird is that?

That interview seemed like those talksports guys were looking down on a you tube channel and seen them as a threat. AFTV can be ott sometimes but they have earned the right to be were they are. Interview was snobbery I think.
