A tip for Keith from a California avocado farmer family; put your newly bought rock hard avo in a brown paper bag, like small lunch bag size. It'll ripen quicker. 😉✌️
The Gulf Stream; a current of warm water from Caribbean keeps Ireland & Britain slightly warmer than other places at a similar latitude. I've seen palm trees growing on the west coast of Scotland & it rarely snows in Ireland. You'd have most success growing an avocado in a large container where it could be moved somewhere sheltered in cold winters. So saying I don't know if he's actually grown one.
@@MelissaThompson432That was my impression as well. I'm from Wisconsin, our store bought avocados have been coming from Peru for quite a while. They ship early when the fruit has a very low oil content. This means they will take much longer to ripen, but will safely make it to many far away ports. All of our avocado commercials used to end with a little jingle that said, "Avocados from Mexico". Then there was a short ban on Mexican avocados and I don't think the jingle ever returned.
@@anonymouse867 I don't eat them, myself, but I used to buy them for my mother, who grew fond of them while living in Florida. I always bought them in varying stages of ripeness so they would last out the week. (In Florida we would get another variety, rather than the little black Hasses available most everywhere now, one that was a little larger than a grapefruit. You would have to sprinkle them with lemon to save them because otherwise there was a lot of wastage.)
Congratulations Mike and Keith! Love the podcast! I have been a faithful listener since you started them and look forward to a new one each week. Keep up the good work guys! It would be cool if Keith co-hosted a That Chapter video sometime, would be nice to put a face to the voice! Love ya guys! 🥰
There's no better way to start the day than listening to my two favorite Irish lads telling a story about a murderous doctor, or really any story. I never realized that strychnine was pronounced so differently in the land of Ire. Also, as soon as you mentioned Guinness, I put my, "Interestingly" finger up and had a laugh as I am currently wearing a Guinness T-shirt. Sláinte boys!
An interesting fact for Keith - in the restaurant business, I was taught that when you tell a guest what their food/drink options are, if there is an item you want to sell more than another, either cuz its on sale, or in case of food, needs to be sold or it gets thrown out the next day, when you give the list of items to the guest, the items you want to sell go at the start & the end of the list, because people will naturally retain those & blur out the middle stuff.
Same thing when you are doing reading to study for tests. Beginning and end of chapters are easier to recall. (This comes from a very grade intense, competitive perpetual college student, now retired, and still going because I like it).
I genuinely love that you put the podcasts on YT. I had been listening on Google podcasts at first, but so prefer it on YT! I ensure to listen every week and sometimes multiple times. 😂
I can totally see it, the football helmet, goofy facial expressions & all! 🤭😁🥰 Thanks for giving him the prompt to bust out the life insurance dance, Keith! Looks like you're one of us, after all! 👏👏👏😂🖤
You guys always keep me laughing and not in a disrespectful way to the victims, it’s more of a good duo bounce off each other and lighten up!! Thank you both and happy holidays 🌺
Just one aside. The pronunciation of senescence - the accent is on the second syllable. The term is also used with plant, especially leaves on deciduous trees. Withering and falling off in the fall....
You guys make my day! I love the fact that you guys can make me laugh while cracking yourselves up along the way and talk about murder at the same time! It's the best of both worlds really
To be fair, with the effectiveness of 19th century or earlier medicine, the terms "physician" and "serial killer" are practically interchangeable... separated only by intent. I'm still of the opinion that Whitechapel Jack was a doctor or veterinarian.

I was thinking the same when it came to early doctors. They were literally digging up corpses to do their forbidden research. Benjamin Franklin was said to have a studying surgeon as long term houseguest and the bones of nearly 30 people were found in his home after his death. I've always thought of early doctors in the same vein as modern day morticians. Not for the faint of heart and usually for those who seem a little, (or a lot) odd.
I'm curious what the Dr's bedside manner was like. I mean was he charming, a sociopath say? Or was he just a mean bully? He seemed to be able to sweet talk and convince people.
Hey Mike & Keith I just wanted 2 let you both know that I love listening 2 the 2 of doing these podcasts & I happen 2 think you are both hilarious!! ❤❤❤❤
London, Ontario is about 192km from Toronto, Ontario. Love the podcasts & That Chapter. With all the others, it would be nice to see Keith to put a face to a name! Keep up the great work! Take care!

Sealing it in a paper bag works to ripen fruits & vegetables by trapping the ethylene in the bag. If you need to ripen them by the end of the day or next morning, placing a piece of ripened fruit in the paper bag with them helps speed the process up.
Ive had the same experience with avocados lately, waiting for them to rippen and after a while I cut them open and they are rotten. Im pretty sure yours will be too.
Ummm that advocado might be bad. But to ripen something fast put it in a brown paper bag with an apple. The apple will help it riped faster than just on the counter by itself.
I'm really enjoying hearing you two sounding like you're having a good time. Is it true a byproduct of lsd is strychnine? My grandfather was a pharmacist, it weird to think how far things came from 1892 to 1925 or so when he started his practice. Anyway great show, thanks!
Ah yes, Avocado. It comes from the Nahuatl word "ahuacatl". It means testicles because they tend to hang in pairs, looking like a yambag. So enjoy that creamy ahuacatl😁
" Thats not my corpse im only holding it for a freind " keith lol
I love when you dance in the podcast. I heard the music and screamed out loud.

I enjoy Keith's research sidebars. Also wondering how the heck he grew an avocado tree in Ireland 😂
I took it to be a grocery avocado. You can buy them unripe and let them ripen, like bananas.
---Usually.
It seems like this one is a dud.

Put the avocado in a brown paper bag. It will ripen in a day or two! Hope this helps!😊

Better check it after one day. They ripen fast that way!
Yep that works most of the time. Great advice.
Hearing strychnine being pronounced "strike neen" instead of "strick nine" is a bit strange.... 😏

A doctor would have stuck out a mile in that area, same with a vet, only not so many of them around the East End at that time.
And since we've touched on Jack the Ripper conspiracies, my preferred candidate for Jack who is otherwise well known in his own right is H. H. Holmes.
