Left and Right wing belong to the same bird.
At least Greens aren’t working off the same base as the two parties.

The reality of the situation is that more people will be moved to tents as people from over seas with financial means secretly agree to pay more rent than the asking price.

Labour wants to put money into a collapsing market, gamble that money and hope it gives returns so only then they take care of Australian people. Maybe they should do that with their pay checks. If there’s a return they get paid if not, oh well.

They aren't saying that with migration, this is a drop in the sea of the housing we will need.

Hang on ... this Labor policy wasn't going to start building any houses (maybe) until 2025. After the investment (maybe, possibly) paid off. So this current standoff isn't delaying house construction right now, surely?

GREAT point. Their election promise was 2025, not before.

Part of the issue about builders collapsing is because there isn't enough tradies and the ones we have are charging more and taking longer to finish the jobs. Normally, immigration where trades are brought in from overseas would be the solution .... oh but wait, everyone is complaining about bringing in more migrants.

Paying people less from overseas to Undercut the Australian tradesman will drop the standards in construction so fast. Why not just pay Tradesman a proper wage and crack down on suppliers profiteering on construction products.

@@BH-ye3df LOL - you don't think standards in construction are an issue now? I just built - the sloppy work that was performed was due to tradesman having too many jobs and not enough time. The work was rushed and thankfully I had an independent inspector who picked it all up. You can pay the current Tradesman better but that won't increase their numbers. We need MORE tradies to cope with the building contracts that are currently blowing out to 18 to 24 months to build.

Why not delay transportation infrastructure spending?
People working from home has reduced strain on roads and public transport during peak hour.
Delaying transport infrastructure spending will free up tradies to work elsewhere.

@@JamielDeAbrew Those contracts are already signed and started. You'd have uproar in the area I'm living in, with many of the roadworks started and incomplete, being stopped. Our area was a fast build with land estates popping up everywhere. Infrastructure did not keep up. The secondary school I teach at has over 2000 students, beside a primary with over 1000 students. They share ONE hall. There are not enough buildings and most classrooms are now double decker portables. They've only just started to build other schools. Roads weren't upgraded from country roads to bigger suburban roads to handle the traffic and have just recently started, causing major traffic jams as we are detoured everywhere. Tradies on infrastructure have different skills to those building houses, cabinetry, plumbing etc. It wouldn't work.

If the Greens pass this so called “solution”, politicians and the media will move on to talking about other issues. They’ll pretend this “solution” fixed the problem. The numbers show us Labor’s “solution” won’t fix anything for people needing homes.
If enough supply is really added to the housing markets (purchase and rental), prices would go down. Property owners want prices to go up. Political parties either want votes from people who don’t own property or from people that do.
