What are some ways of getting real experience when you're learning to code that I didn't mention in the video? Let me know in the comments!
Well, nowadays you can follow a path make some project and post it on github, you can refine the project or just making it for fun. Doing it for free is a option if you can explain" You want to do it for experience, so just once because you don't get any payment for that project " So, if they asking you to do it for free forever tell them if they want to make something "more professional way" They must pay certain amount of money because you still must survive and using a resource that aren't free at all.

My pleasure
As a self-taught Js - React developer, I tried to use all possible resources, blogs, youtube, udemy and other platforms, docs ... At some point I realized that creating projects and improving myself was the only thing I could do to compete, with those who had more experience than me. Sometimes it's really annoying, but if you don't get better, how can you think about getting hired. Then you move on to create a good Linkedin profile and a whole series of things that can help you, because only the code is not enough.
Do not give up ✌🏻
Thanks for all of your content Dorian! Been a fan for a couple months now :)
Really good ideas! I never really thought of working on my own product/site as a means for gaining experience. That’s something that I will definitely put to use. Thanks Dorian!
Thank you so much! your video pushing me to get better. I'm not already work on this field (i'm student (CS)) but you make a lot of video which bringing more motivation to me.
Good Thumbnail, its dope seeing your progress, Salute form miami
Love your attitude bro. Keep the content coming. 👌
I've paused the video at 0:26 to admire your desk setup. It feels amazing to look at, it certainly must be pleasurable to work on it too. My sincere congratulations for both your workspace and your content, I"ve been subscribed to your channel for a while now and your videos are meaningful.
I believe he has a video on his desk set up, if you haven't watched it. Seems like it would be interesting to you
@@Belkak021 I've watched it now and yes, it was very interesting.
Thank you!
Thanks for the info love the channel
Great vid Dorian
Dorian back again with another video!
After building some stuff, through whatever avenue you take, I would suggest to build a portfolio of work asap, it really makes a difference. I built a portfolio of project work i did through Udacity courses, and within a week of posting it on my Linkedin a connection suggested me to a freelancer with too much work on their hands. I'm now getting paid work that is something i can put down as legit experience, and will hopefully lead to something bigger in future.
Amazing guide for beginners like me to get a experience as a coder
Guys here's real world advice, advice that your grandfather and then father should've told you. This whole world is about relationships! Who do you know and better yet, who knows you? Have you harnessed and nurtured these relationships? Do you treat people with kindness and respect? do you GIVE GIVE GIVE? NO? then you've got a long life ahead of you.
Yes, you must learn to code, YEs, you should have some proof of your work as a portfolio. Maybe you can even do a few projects for free but why do all of that when all you need to do is build great relationships in your industry, volunteer at events like hackernest etc etc. be in the know, be in the circles.
Great advice Dorian!!
agreed. though i was raised to have shit social skills and often find it hard introducing myself to colleagues and getting to know them. small talk is pretty difficult. but i try and each cringe moment makes me stronger
Sometimes doing bootcamp or getting a degree in that field on paper (certificates) doesn't mean anything. If you can't demonstrate your skill. I did a bootcamp, c# an python. But still I have to continue self learning, currently started html, css an java.
It's so annoying, I have learned a couple of programming language, fronted and backend frameworks and some complex topics like multi threading, system design...etc and off course algorithms and data structure. but still I can't get a job because I don't have a real job experience!
Update: I finally got a job.
I got interview invites from several companies after updating my resume (I think my old resume didn't impress the recruiters) and then I choose the higher paying job.
Thanks for your help
@Mirjalol Thanks do, I hope so
I would say try speaking to devs on Twitter. I'm doing a project with a senior dev from Microsoft to put alot of weight on my github and portfolio.
I'm cheering for you.
@@ericb4898 I will try this, thanks for the tip
@Mirjalol it blew me away as well I did not ask or anything just a person that wanted to help after a brief conversation. Try to do a coffee chat with a dev that works for a company you way want to be a part of.

Idea for the next video:
How should you make first projects like to do app when you don't even know where to start: from scratch or following a tutorial? Which way is better?
Does following along tutorials make you "weaker", instead of putting yourself into struggle as there's no solution and you have to do it yourself?
I follow a tutorial then a structured project telling me what to code step by step without showing me the code.
@@CE-vd2px What do mean by "structured project"? There are projects on the Internet like tutorials, but instead of showing you the whole solution they only tell what steps to take? Where can I find them?
I start with what I know. Once I finished the project I watch other’s code and try to learn from them
@@kaitakami8641 It becomes a problem when I'm doing the first project and know almost nothing 😂
But this is a good approach. I'm gonna use it in future projects. Thanks for the idea 👍
@@mark_pribylnov you need a structured program that will give you projects at a good pace. I suggest the odin project if you want to learn web development. it's free.
The only way is to learn the syntax and reserved words. They are generally the same for each language. Create custom methods. Learn inheritance, recursion, etc. Learn DSA. Learn GUI. Learn how to read requirements to create programs from scratch. Set up UML and docs for your own projects. Debug. Clean code. That is how! Know how machine works
Hi Dorian, I wanted to ask if you know why is it that almost anyone on youtube just talks about web developing as if it were the only area to chose when becoming a developer. Like, people tend to just ask, what do you aspire to be, a front-end dev, or a back-end one? But what if I just wanted to something else in coding? (also bootcamps and courses make emphasis on web developing) Since coding is an enormous field with a lot more stuff than just the web. (Also, since its such a well known field, thanks to this type of marketing everywhere, maybe its even harder for someone to start web developing with the amount of supply of new web devs compared to the demand) You could probably make a video showing the other sides of coding! thanks
I'm not any kind of expert but I think the main reason for this is that as browsers and servers are becoming more powerful and as people use more and more mobile phone than desktop for accessing information, desktop apps are becoming obsolete and the tech world is shifting more towards web and mobile apps. Therefore, the supply of new web devs is simply the consequence of the market need for more web devs. Only other developer/coding areas that I find are still very wanted are IOT (embedded C/C++) and creating operating systems
web development is easier to learn than other coding applications too, i think.
good info
I like your video they are real life experience, please make some video on affiliate marketing, or Click Bank. Thanks
Thank you so Dorian for the helpful videos, please I need your help on this one, i know if you are working for a company, they probably have designers who do the designs and handover to the developers to put that into code, however what if you want get into freelance how does that work, I initially thought it's not a big deal only to find out after trying out designing my own designs that it's one hell of a job on it's so please your advice will helpful here, is it a good idea to learn both development and design? If not how does one handle the design part of they are freelancing...
Thank you in advance
If you want to shift your knowledge more towards developer side than designer side, your websites dont need to be the prettiest on the market but if their functionality and usability are on point you dont have a problem. Also, you can use a lot of templates for your projects to get a feeling of what looks and feels good in terms of UI/UX design and get better at it on the go.
@@vuktodorovic4768 thank you so much for the kind response sir I really appreciate, that helps
@@vuktodorovic4768 thank you much appreciated.
If it is possible to make a video about to level your skills up and is it normal that lower intermediate developer stuck 10+ to solve some problems sets which are only 50 lines of code?
I need someone who can be volunteer to just guide me a little bit...
And hope Dorian make video or answer my question
If they are that many problems, that could be indicator they are doing some call back many time over project or resource, normally 50 line of code can maximum solve 1-3 problem(if you are experienced and a clean coder), first step of try make that works and slowly refine it (just a advice from someone just starting over learning code)
Sometimes i'm negative in your comments but your motivation has dawned on me. Just launched a CSS/HTMLwebsite catered towards helping delivery workers out. Not sure if you would be willing to give a shotout to help a fellow developer. Either way you have good content man! keep it up!
For you, what is the crack path😁to take even I'm CS student, to be software developer. I'm asking that because at school we learn a lot of traditionnals and old things. Without learning modern stuff in demand nowaday. and i find it very boring!
What a thumbnail 😂

Great stream, as always. I appreciate the level-headed approach you take to the news and the markets. @Rolexy jallow doge?
@Joe turner One thing I learned in life is that a big part of winning is knowing that you can and it is possible for you to win.
Been hearing about Richard for a while, how do I get him??
@Rolexy jallow okay then, I will give him a head start to see what His capable of making.
I feel like you make all these videos against coding and coding schools to get people to not do it. You know most people won’t be willing to learn on their own. I’m sure these schools are a big scam, but maybe they do actually help in a way. Keeps the need to fill the position cos there isn’t many of em. But who knows lol
