    I am newly diagnosed "gimpy," one diagnostic point above qualifying for handicapped plates and a cane. As far as I am concerned you can used the term gimpy. My daughter says I have a hitch in my giddyup.

    Gorgeous gown, but you would get snagged up on every bracelet, button, door handle and stiletto heal, not sure how you would get to dinner 😄

    If i read the pattern correctly, you would have shifted the increase each round by one loop had you not made the last segment one loop narrower and thus avoided the stacking of the DCs - I think there was a line in the pattern that said to shift the increases by one each round? Anyway, it's looking great so far, look forward to seeing the rest.

      Indeed, and it seems to be working out ( other than running out of yarn lol , currently and painfully waiting for it to arrive haha) , I did post some current progress pics in the community posts here on my channel 👍👍

      For me, one of the best parts of doing these tutorials like this , and showing the pattern is the fact that others can see what I may be missing, and we help each others progress and to learn , like a sewing circle 😊😊😊, thank you

    That is SO pretty! I suspect that the weight of the seams being created by the increases, combined with the weight of the 8 dc shell in each loop at the bottom are meant to give gorgeous drape to the skirt. I'm very excited to see your finished project! Thank you!

    I feel like the long stitches are actually the knee area. To me on the picture the stitches around for knee are larger stitches which makes sense to me because as you sit and walk you would want more room at the knee. Just my thoughts. I love your channel, this is the second video I've watched and I'm loving it! Thank you for the entertainment. I can't wait for part 3.

    I am a lace knitter. It I am not sure whether the stitch count of a pattern is going to work out, I will often plot it out on graph paper before I start. It saves me a lot of frogging.

    I know this comment is way behind, but I just joined your channel, so back in the day of this dress using fabric it was cut from fabric on the bias, so it was a natural flare at the bottom as the pattern increased using a wider cut. When done ,the dress draped over the body and flared naturally at the bottom. So maybe in order for the bottom to look right crocheted it has to have the lines

  • @dawntowe5799
    @dawntowe5799 Рік тому

    I think the lines are necessary for the folds to happen and give it a little more weight to flare when dancing.

    I have a doily pattern with that knot stitch. I tried to make it but it just looks so messy. I don't like that stitch much. But with a slip under it it looks fancy

    What did they were under such dress? A ready made dress like underdress or a tailored peace? On the picture it looks shiny.

  • @uniqabb
    @uniqabb Рік тому

    This dress reminds me of the fishnetdress that is mentioned in a fabel or something. A clever women who solved the problem of being dressed and yet not dressed. Well if im reading the picture corretly you are not doing the flare corretly. In the ankerpoints you should start an new loop then in the next round it becomes to two loops an vise versa. The loops in between should not increase but keep the same amount. In that way you will create a triankular peace. It is exactly the same way you would do if you sewed it!

    • @justvintagecrochet
      @justvintagecrochet  Рік тому +2

      you're nlikely right , I will say, at this point it seems to be working out , Im just about to the hem and it has a lovly draped efffect and the lines are totally hidden now , but I do agree i may not be doing it right. after over 200 yards of yarn and over 40 hrs worked , im like " if it works , is it really wrong" hahaha , Im just kidding of course , but that is what I love about the comments , we learn so much from eachother , Thank you :)

    Dumb question: is the model wearing high heels? Been working on my 18"doll size n im deciding to not do the long solomon knot n go straight into the flare. Ineffect it will start at the knees for my doll, the trumpet part.
