Sabah Style Lion Dance (Bamboo Dance and Sumazau)

This delightful lion dance performance includes Bamboo Dance (Magunatip) and Sumazau dance of Murut and Kadazan people respectively, the two largest indigenous groups of Sabah, Malaysia. You won't see such lion dance in other parts of the world. Lion Dance Team: Kelab Tarian Singa Muda-Mudi Penampang (Penampang Lion Dance Youth Club). Kulingtangan (mini gong), a traditional Sabah music instrument, is also used in the show.
This is the story of the performance:
A lion wants to enter a village to play with his monkey friend. However, the villagers don't welcome the lion, and they build bamboo fence to keep the lion away. The lion is still able to overcome the obstacles and challenges to get into the village.
The village chief tries to stop the lion, but the lion still manages to reach the monkey which later jumps into a cave. The village chief is so unhappy and throw his walking stick on the floor. The lion picks it up and returns it to him, trying to make peace with the village chief. At the end, they both become friends and dance Sumazau together.

This was really well done! I mistaken the lega of the people in there to actual lion legs! Their foot work is so good, and the fact that it acts like a doggie is also cute xd it killed me when it rolled over. If i was judging over there i would say 100000000000/10 🙂
