Black Sabbath - Hand of Doom

- What you gonna do? Time's caught up with you
Now you wait your turn, you know there's no return
Take your written rules, you join the other fools
Turn to something new, now it's killing you
First it was the bomb, Vietnam napalm
Disillusioning, you push the needle in
From life you escape, reality's that way
Colours in your mind satisfy your time
Oh you, you know you must be blind
To do something like this
To take the sleep that you don't know
You're giving Death a kiss,
Oh, little fool now
Your mind is full of pleasure
Your body's looking ill
To you it's shallow leisure
So drop the acid pill, don't stop to think now
You're having a good time baby
But that won't last
Your mind's all full of things
You're living too fast
go out enjoy yourself
Don't bottle it in
You need someone to help you
To stick the needle in, yeah
Now you know the scene, your skin starts turning green
Your eyes no longer seeing life's reality
Push the needle in, face death's sickly grin
Holes are in your skin, caused by deadly pin
Head starts spinning 'round, you fall down to the ground
Feel your body heave, Death's hands starts to weave
It's too late to turn, you don't want to learn
Price of life you cry, now you're gonna die!
Probably the most underrated song on the album
This. .....and Planet Caravan. ..indeed
And The best
The best track on the album underrated. What world are you living in? Only posers who call the singles the best wouldn't know Hand Of Doom - Black Sabbath's 4th best song. Who doesnt know Hand Of Doom? Come on.
@@joshuamasserant8215 okay elitist
@@joshuamasserant8215 This is a great song but War Pigs is way better IMO.
Bill ward absolutely kills it on this track, he has such a great feel and timing for his instrument
The best feel. Truly a musician despite the old " you're a drummer, not a musician" saying. Bill truly has a unique approach to drums that truly involves his bandmates parts and what they are doing in the song. He considers himself a percussionist not a drummer. I really don't think he's appreciated enough, can't think of anyone that has the same approach, flavor and groove in their playing.
Bill ward is the greatest heavy Metal drummer in the world!
Right, slags behind the beat a bit, then wham! he kicks in with the others.
Damn straight he fyo🔥
When you listen to old Sabbath albums you can clearly hear Ward's jazz roots. One of my fav drummers of all time.
Ozzy: don't stop the beat now
Bill Ward: stops the beat
the heavy metal escense
Lol! Don’t stop and think now!
I don't see how anyone could dislike this. BeSt album ever made.
I do not dislike. But I do disagree: their best album to me is the previous and first one. Pretending to indicate the best album ever made by anyone is a useless and utopic effort: music is so wide and mankind creativity explores it in any direction so that there are hundreds (may be thousands) of "best album ever made". Nevertheless "Paranoid" is an absolute masterpiece
The guitar isnt that powerufl like classic songs by black sabbath like iron man. a lot of black sabbath fans just like iron man and war pigs and paranoid
@@tinapica68ify He said to Him it was the best album ever made. what part of that don't you comprehend? Poser.
@@AquinasBased A lot of fans didn't grow up listening to these albums.
@@allenblevins7430 Poser! What a memory from the past, from the 80's, this adjective represents!
I am almost grateful to you for using it 'cos you make me feel like a teenager, anew, more than 35 yrs later!
*A staple of Heavy/Doom Metal*
Fuckin a
@Влад Прохода It's a matter of opinion. To mine, Black Sabbath are definitely a heavy metal band. They figured, started, created heavy metal, and this song is no exception: it's heavy metal.
This song is like a mix of rock and heavy metal, which was the case with a lot of 70's bands.
@@tinapica68ify Ozzy said poeple liked scary movies so let's make scary music. I'm paraphrasing, but that's a quote. Sorry about the my first reply to you.
@@allenblevins7430 Don't worry 'bout it: you made me laugh and that's always positive!
Best anti drug song ever written. Absolutely outstanding performance
MoP?
Also Iron Horse/Born to Lose by Motorhead, Needle and the Damage Done by Neil Young, and so many others.@@jvoges
There’s nothing about this band that was anti-drug. This song is anti-heroin.
True, but most won’t understand the lyrics until them or someone close to them falls victim to the needle.
The very definition of someone caught up in heroin addiction!! Very powerful song!! I lived with addiction for 25yrs, and I can relate to this song in so many ways!! Now just coming up to 20yrs drug free, and I still listen to this to remind me of where I came from! ❤️
Well bloody done there matey!! Your guardian angel and ancestors are proud of your journey man!!! God speed!
Good job man. For real. Escaping that life is more than difficult.
fucking badass

Just celebrated 32 years Clean and Sober by the Grace of GOD !! ... I don't miss that life for nothing !!😀😀😀!!
3:38 That's when the most evil Iommi doom thrashing kicks in. No other guitarist back then sounded like him. His sound was his own.
Even to this day, no guitarist DELIVERS it like him
You can thank his fingertip accident for this sound , watch his documentary
Nothing beats a Sabbath deep cut with your coffee to get the day started.
I’m listening early this morning. I agree.
Doing just that 😁
I've always loved the irony of this song.
Ozzy (and the rest of Sabbath) writing a song about addiction awareness while at the peak of their own diseases.
Who better to speak upon it
This was 1970. Well before everyone in the band was addicted to various substances. Geezer wrote the song after watching a news report about Vietnam veterans and heroin addiction.
Its was around the time of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath that Ozzy and the band were in the midst of addiction. Sabotage was the peak. Than they did Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die. Two of the bands less appreciated albums, mainly due to the drugs getting in the way of their music performance.
Heroin Sucks!!! Black Sabbath is my new drug of choice. CHOOSE LIFE!!! thanks for posting
Apparently for you...it's not for people with poor impulse control.same goes for all opiates.

There's no bands today that can write songs like this

Correction on your lyrics...............I could be wrong but I always thought he said............From life you escape Realitys gut face.............Also...........Price of life too high now your gonna die
Wisdom of God's Word. Why do so many say that this is satanic? I don't understand that.
This song gotta be the best acid trip of all time. Who needs drugs anyway when you got this????
ozzy
I'm agree with you
Captures the end of the sixties perfectly....dark.. evil times...the end of innocences..the lie of flower power..hippies..truly demonic.
Damn, thanks for the comment, I’m too young to remember those days, but it’s great to hear first hand accounts of the time. Most young people have no clue that there was a dark side to the hippies and that era.
Jimmy Page was the true follower of Aleister Crowley the Satan worshiper not Ozzy. Bahaaa
Jews
@@AgeofReason what
@@AgeofReason I was thinking main stream media purposely overting the direction of the 60's to where we are now and so forth. But yes, I'm aware of the big Jewish Question and influence they had and still have on Lady Europe. Total subverters and they're not too ashamed of it to stop. :^(
It boggles my mind how this album got negative reviews. Really goes to show critics don’t know anything about music
Do you know Pink Floyd has never won a Grammy, but Kanye West has won 22 !
To the other guy Kanye is very talented. But to this original comment take a minute to think about how the biggest band in the world dropped hey Jude the same year this bands first album came out and something and let it be the year these songs were available. To the media, wheels of fire was heavy and Led Zeppelin 2 was thrashing and scary. This album was out of the scope of the common consumer and this song is literally about death from drug use very overtly. They are absolutely one of the greatest rock units of all time but they were heavier than radio was ready for. Deep purple is extremely overlooked in this era for their musical differences not so much content but 4 years later that’s what metal sounded like deep purples first two albums and sabbaths first two albums are like the starter Pokémon of metal music
A good warning is one that goes heeded. Hearing this song as a little kid is one of the things that kept me drug-free
This is such a fucking master piece, you really hear how powerful each member is in this song
Promise this is the best metal album of all time
Paranoid, one of the few albums in my opinion to not have a bad song. It all comes down to personal preference song wise for me. I always rank this one rather highly, it’s one of those great songs that some know and some don’t
I'm pretty casual, this is a favorite
@@nickvandermey6065 No Sabbath album has a truly bad song on it - Not the 8 Ozzy lp's.
Omg I haven't heard this song for years (I mean like 15 years) ! Excellent song !
This is one of the best songs ever me and my grandpa rock to this all day!
that album cover always got me giggling
A hidden gem. THIS is why you buy albums or at least find the full album online and give every song a listen
I buy albums so I always have the music. When they remastered 'Holy Diver' by Dio. UA-cam removed EVERY old upload of the album for almost two years. Music videos, regular video with just the song and album cover, AMVs. Even videos that just had snippets of a song from the album. I had a video that had 'Straight Through The Heart' in the opening. UA-cam blocked it! Forcing me to remove that part when the video had been up for a few months. I have other videos with music from Holy Diver as well and other channels with videos that have some of the songs on the album. All got taken down. They are all viewable now but they were unviewable for almost two years. UA-cam will likely do this with any album remaster so I have since got a really good stereo and cd player and never have to worry about UA-cam taking down songs and albums for BS reasons anymore. I had planned to do that anyway but UA-cam doing that made me move on that plan faster.
Black Sabbath’s first six albums were 10 out of 10 perfection rock ‘n’ roll at its finest
they weren't.
Back in the day (I was a kid) BS and Rush (composition and drummers) were doing stuff nobody else had ever done. I love this song!
This is one of my favourite sabbath songs for sure.
First 3 sabbath albums still just blow my mind, fukn heavey shitttt,🤘🇨🇦
I played this on 11 at work during the depths of the lockdown
one thing i love about sabbath is this album seems like a bunch of bored stoners making music with artist block. it seems raw and loud and i love that about it.
This track was always one of my favorite Sabbath tunes...dark, ominous and very much a warning. Playing around with the big buzz ain't wise....
A bottle of whiskey..and this song... fuck yea!
this is one of my dad's favorite black sabbath songs, and now it's starting to grow on me. Feels weird to listen to the same music as your parents lmao
my dad used to listen to all the bands i listen to now, its a way for me to still keep him close imo
I embraced it as a young child.. weird or not... music is art, and art is timeless.
Soon after that, i started listeling to music even older than my parents.
It leaves me with a colorful library of music. Not bound by age or genre.
Music truely is the best drug in the world ^^
that bass line at the start though
No duh the music, but the lyrics in this are soooo heavy. Really poetic group.
This is great how have i missed this track all these years
love this album and have for decades. every song is epic!!!!
Best weight lifting music ever
Damn so true hahahahaha
This song is ridiculously dark
I appreciate the levels on this upload, I don't have to constantly turn it up and down. It matters a lot when I'm driving
Just turn that shit up and leave it up! Dynamic Range is a good thing, the artist wants quiet parts of the song and parts that kick in for impact.
Cold beer and black sabbath
What an evil combination!!!
i love how the song simply ends with "Now you're gonna die"
THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM
Its my favorite black sabbath song
Child of the sixties over 14 years clean and yet still only one speed ball away
My parents thought something was wrong with their 10 years old kid when they heard this shit cranking out of my room,….. they got over it,…eventually hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
Black Sabbath's heaviness wasn't just their instrumental skills. Geezer's lyrics were dark as fuck.
Fantastic tune. First time hearing this and I love it.
I love these guys !!! The absolute greatest ones to ever do it !!!
"OZ-ZY! OZ-ZY! OZ-ZY! OZ-ZY_ OZ-ZY!"
Listening now in Fortaleza Ceará Brazil !🇧🇷
I like it when music takes you on a transendental journey, it rarely happens but when it does is changes you in some way. I know it's just my mind being carried away on the pure beauty of the song and releasing chemicals that make one feel connected to the universe in some important way, but it's still a trip in the purest sense of the word. Love you all.
The irony also occurs due to the subject matter of the song, perhaps the song acheives for us that which the imagined protagonist desires to through his own missadventures.
I know many that fell to durgs and this is so epic in multiple proportions
2:08 - 3:27 best part of the song
So catchy
Crazy great....
3:37 best part of the whole song
This track swings.
Bill Ward and Geezer butler are in their zones on this legendary track. Keeping great time while keeping it hard and funky. Long live rock !
My favorite song from this album
Chills everytime
BEST CONCERT I EVER SAW !
Eres unos de los mejores de black Sabbath gracias Ozzy🎉🎉🎉
Thanks black sabbath very good song
Sabbath were so ahead of their Time people weren't ready. This song is Insane.
All of acalades for this album are spot on! Heavy Metal begins here!
Honestly this album at first was hard for me to get into because before listening to it I thought it was going to be heavier and at first that was what turned me off….. However now I get it honestly I can see how Sabbath rubbed off on bands like Soundgarden,Alice in Chains,Candlebox, smashing pumpkins etc…. All bands that I love…..So now i view sabbath’s early material as Stoner Hard rock…. A lot of 90s grunge bands definitely have sabbath influence in some way….
Probably the scariest song on this album. 😢
@@Left_foot_creep I know , that's why I said it.
"Masterpiece"
let them that think they stand take caution lest they fall
3:37 , best part , especially with lots of volume on a loud stereo
Don’t forget the ACID
right here
Rock it 🤘
For all of the drugs that they did they knew to stay away from the smack.
they did sniff heroin during vol.4. Just a little bit
I don't understand how anyone is dumb enough to shoot smack in the first place
You'd have to be really fkn stupid
That moment when you're a heroin user and you hear this song for the first time
Don't do heroin, bro. 🙏🏼 listen to Sabbath
get help bro😕
What a waste of life
Stop doing heroin and live your best life
Notice how sabbath only sung about it and jimmy page got caught up in it, says a lot about the respective bands longevity and brains.
Sabbath got caught up in their own world of shit as well, big time
@@TorgMetal yeah, coke, booze and broads but how many original members of Black Sabbath are alive today? All fucken 4.
@@TorgMetal absolutely
Practically all this old stuff from Sabbath is music written by hungry geniuses. Still in my top 5.
F heroin
This track is one of the most epic pieces of metal of all times (in my opinion): it's like tell a story, a soft start and a magnificent climax that changes all. I thought, when I listened to Paranoid for the first time, it was two different songs in one (I couldn't see the tracks' names this time, but I could reconigze when a track ends and other starts); so, I wanna forget this track beacuse I wanna listened to it again and remember the epic experiencie of its sounds and moments.
Fucking legends.
YEE BOIIIIII
Bad ass song 🤘🤘🤘
Any Radio Shack people would relate to this. I had a pair of Mach 5000 speakers with 15" woofers in them. Luckily they had built in circuit breakers otherwise I would have blown them. I used to crack the bass to 10 and play the bass parts over and over again.

The Alice in Chains of the 70s; half of teir songs sound like cries for help.
This is so,so ironic considering what eventually happened to Ozzy
A lot of their songs were somewhat autobiographical. They were trapped in the cycle of drug addiction, with an endless supply. "Snowblind" is another important one. It starts as a love song to cocaine, and ends as a nightmare of being addicted. Ozzy was the one who couldn't quit, but they all had their nightmare.
Can’t believe it was 480 mil years ago, times furs 😮
A guy at work got his fingers mashed at work...health and safety are all over lol that's why I'm here
