I am sitting here in my study with a window facing the playing fields in my little village and I am supposed to be working but clicked this and I am so proud of them but what makes me even prouder is this country pushes and promotes women in all sports. On the field there is a tournament going on and it's all girls. from 5 years upwards to17. The most amazing thing is all the boys are also out there encouraging them on. That is the result of accepting that girls can play football and they can play it well
I hope this puts to bed the idea that English coaches are great but just not getting opportunities (particularly when discussing the Premier League). English coaches criminally mismanage talented groups of players with their outdated ideas, look what Wiegman was able to achieve with this squad. Meanwhile Netherlands who were Europe's leading team throughout 2017-19 appointed an Englishman and began to play the English way: park 9 players in their own half with one isolated centre-forward.

Germany did give them some nervy or scary moments, but they prevailed. That is how got them their first EURO trophy. I am so happy for all England and their fans to celebrate their first EURO trophy at home, and not only that for their coach Sarina Wiegman to coach back-to-back EURO winners, first her native Netherlands (2017 EURO Champion and host), now England (the host). Coach of the Year award perhaps. I think she is one of the nominees.

This England team was a joy to watch all tournament; Never looked rattled by any setback, always had a goal in them when they needed it.
