Kia may offer AWD after the discontinuation of the Stinger. It didn’t make sense to offer it when they had a full fledged sports sedan with poor sales. It makes sense now that the K5 will be their only midsize sedan.
@@703Speed Kia says poor sales. Even though Kia has come a long way some buyers are uncomfortable with shelving out 50 to 60 grand on a Kia. In addition, SUVs are in and sedans and coupes are out. Just a heads up, the guy says you can put 93 octane in, and maybe it'll give you more power. That's not true. 93 octane takes longer to burn in high compression/high heat situations, and that's all. It gives racecar pistons the ability to compress at higher ratios without the increased heat from compression igniting the gas prematurely (before the sparkplug fires). Premature ignition damages the engine. This car is calibrated to fire 87 octane. If you put 93 in, the computer will eventually recognize that there's a problem, because the fuel isn't burning as quickly as expected, and it'll adjust the timing. 93 octane is associated with high horsepower, but doesn't create more hp. Does that make sense? Also, don't rest your hand on the shifter while you drive. It can f up your trans over time.

@stanmans Kia/Hyundai have been copying mainstream auto manufacturers for years. It is known within the industry, which I have been a part of for 25 years. Fact.
I'd want the all wheel drive. My forte GT line has front wheel drive. I'm ok with that. Now, does the hatchback open automatically with the fob in your pocket?
Yes, if the car is locked and you walk up to the back of the car with the key fob, it will beep 3 times before popping the trunk open. My experience with my GT has been that the weatherstripping has been a little sticky and prevented the trunk from popping open on occasion.
I just picked up a GT Line AWD and it is great. The red seats are incredible. I wish I could have the power of the GT in the GT Line but overall the AWD is in my opinion the best model. With the GT dual clutch transmission it is love it or hate it. The DC is horrible in stop and go traffic in my opinion. The hesitation as the clutches engage is annoying.
why do people think these cars have 4 wheel drive? you do realize what awd is right? all these cars coming with AWD are basically only activated when needed. Screeching off a starting line isn't going to activate AWD. If it has 4 wheel drive you actually put the car into then yes it would be worth it. all these car makers putting in pseudo 4wheel drive systems.
@@ezeess7239 good point. However, I only mentioned AWD, unless you were referring to someone else? Also, if the GT had AWD it would be class leading and an option to even the suedo luxury options.
whats the ride quality like? is it pretty quiet? 19 inch wheels and closer to ground than an SUV make me a little nervous i have seltos right now and its 19 inch wheels and i hate it. it bounces HARD over every bump
You won’t get a BENTLY ride. If you are looking for quiet and smooth you may want to check out a Cadillac or Audi 8 or B.M.W. 7 series. or Mercedes 550. or a Rolls Royce. Otherwise go to a dealership for a test drive. Put the transmission in the "sport" mode and have a blast. p.s. Yugos have been discontinued as have Edsels.
An LSD would be a game changer. AWD would be even better. With Kia getting rid of the stinger, they may put some time into making this thing even better..
KIA if very foolish for NOT having Limited Slip Differential in this car. Yes, they would have had to charge more for the car, but it wouldn't be a terrible increase, and it would have made the car so much for drivable and so much more pleasurable.
i was interested in the hype behind the K5, but for 40K i’m buying a Mazda3 premium turbo hatchback. 320lb torque, the mazda sounds 10 times better, comes AWD, more luxurious interior, and a reputable car manufacture.

Love this car is so powerful.
Yesss
I don’t know if you’ve tried it or if you model offers it but if it does put it in sports mode and be prepared to be blown away
Excellent review of a pretty cool car. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, this review is extremely significant you gave us details about this Kia K5 GT car however this car is comfortable and looks sporty I freaking love this car I liked the grille did you notice grille looks like a tiger nose squeezed getting along the fog light headlight is also great black chrome ginormous moon roof which nice further trunk area would almost 21 cubic feet gloss black 19-inch wheels with machine face moreover nice stitching seats very comfortable all the features including of this Gt Lane keep assists blind spot monitoring driver assist collision one thing I like the most if you aren't attention cars front of you bleep the sound that is a nice feature 2.5 l turbo inline-four cylinders 290ho and 311 pound-feet of torque eight-speed dual-clutch transmission 0 to 60 5.2 seconds front wheel drive I would rather purchase this one than gt1 overall this vehicle upscale thanks.
Thank you for the comment - it kinda does look like a tiger nose haha
A fantastic description Mr. Lawrence (Last chapter Lady Chatterly’s Lover).
Wait... so does it have cruise control?Just not smart cruise control, right?
I travel the Southeast for work, and I have lost count of the number of KIA cars, I have seen broken down on the side of the expressway.
You know that’s not true. Take some pictures and post them for us. Ridiculous statement. Are you Mazda rep?
You must be jealous because you bought a Yugo.
Do they have the all-season floor mats? I don't like carpet. Oh, could you just replace that light with a LED light for the visor mirror?
I have a 2023 and was able to get the factory all-season mats through amazon
That instrument cluster is straight out of a 2010-2015 VW Passat, right down to the coolant a fuel gauges. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery and all...
Maybe the VW copied Kia. Just sayin'
@stanmans Kia/Hyundai have been copying mainstream auto manufacturers for years. It is known within the industry, which I have been a part of for 25 years. Fact.
How does it ride - comfort wise?
Do these models come with the Blind Spot View Monitoring?
Which trim for ventilated seats, all-wheel-drive turbo 2.5
I'd want the all wheel drive. My forte GT line has front wheel drive. I'm ok with that. Now, does the hatchback open automatically with the fob in your pocket?
Yes, if the car is locked and you walk up to the back of the car with the key fob, it will beep 3 times before popping the trunk open. My experience with my GT has been that the weatherstripping has been a little sticky and prevented the trunk from popping open on occasion.
Great video. Personally I wouldn't be interested in this trim just because without AWD it doesn't seem to put the power down well.
AWD would make this thing even better
I just picked up a GT Line AWD and it is great. The red seats are incredible. I wish I could have the power of the GT in the GT Line but overall the AWD is in my opinion the best model. With the GT dual clutch transmission it is love it or hate it. The DC is horrible in stop and go traffic in my opinion. The hesitation as the clutches engage is annoying.
@@mr.wilson8340 I think you made a wise choice, congrats 👏🎉
why do people think these cars have 4 wheel drive? you do realize what awd is right? all these cars coming with AWD are basically only activated when needed.
Just got mine love it🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
Congratulations !
Only Sorento LED Cube Headlights missing in K5 - Sad
I like it but I don't see any head up display can I get it in and and ventilated seats?
No head up display, but you can get ventilated seats with the GT1 package
Wireless apple car play should be bare minimum
whats the ride quality like? is it pretty quiet? 19 inch wheels and closer to ground than an SUV make me a little nervous
i have seltos right now and its 19 inch wheels and i hate it. it bounces HARD over every bump
100k subs loading!
Haha - on the way!
i wouldve liked to see the GT come in AWD but i guess they chose not to since people will most likely shy away from the stinger
True. But they are discontinuing the Stinger. Now I wonder if they’ll add AWD to this?
The Kia boys love them.
Lol
They may love breaking the windows out, but they aren't able to steal them with the imobilizer on these.
@@TW1STedDiLLiGaF tell that to your insurance company
No AWD or even a limited slip differential is why I took the K5 GT off my short list.
An LSD would be a game changer. AWD would be even better. With Kia getting rid of the stinger, they may put some time into making this thing even better..
Have they made improvements with road and wind noise?
I didn't get to take it to 70, but maybe an owner can comment on this
i paid 33k for my 22 gt line awd new and now ur telling me i can get a gt for the same price now?
Yup
I was all set on buying this car until you said it doesn't have AWD. I currently have a BMW Z4 and want that 0-60 off the line to be smooth.
Yup - it needs AWD. But, in a roll race this thing would take some names
Did they fix the theft issue yet? Shouldn't be allowed to sell them if not.
The keyed ones are susceptible. Not the keyless
311 torque isn't much this day and age? Really? Isn't 311 torque the highest you can get in its class?
Is it possible to get the k5 with a head up display and awd? And how much would I have to pay for it?
Not the GT, no
Check with a dealership
@@stanmans thanks for nothing.
It's a pretty car for older people. Not for racing.
Very well said!
I am older, and I think it is pretty!
You have to start adding miles at a full tank
KIA if very foolish for NOT having Limited Slip Differential in this car. Yes, they would have had to charge more for the car, but it wouldn't be a terrible increase, and it would have made the car so much for drivable and so much more pleasurable.
I think it would be worth it to raise the price a bit to get the LSD or AWD
No locking glove compartment - what's up with that.
Nice looking car!
Wait do I understand this right?
It’s a 2024 model but you have to be plugged in for CarPlay?!
Yup
@@703Speed Is this the Stone Age?!
i was interested in the hype behind the K5, but for 40K i’m buying a Mazda3 premium turbo hatchback. 320lb torque, the mazda sounds 10 times better, comes AWD, more luxurious interior, and a reputable car manufacture.
Fair enough!
I might just wait till the 2025 it has one long screen 🤔
Lowkey tried to make it look like the underrated maxima exterior.
Bought a new 2006 Optima drove a couple years then all the warning lights started blinking. It went thru 6 inches of NW snow easy. Peace bro.
At what mileage did all those lights come on? Kias seem to have one of the best warranty’s out there at the moment, which is great
It was about 80000.
@@michaelgrow8630you haven't stated what the Problem was....
@@johnfranklin5277 all the lights, engine, brake, every one lit up. Went to Kia dealer where I got car they told me about 4 grand to repair everything. Ended up selling car.
The million dollar question is can it be stolen like the all the other Kia’s will I have to bo guard it and watch it like a hawk or buy a steering club lock?????
Why does sticker say 1.6L and your video says 2.5L? Am I missing something?
This starts as a “GT Line” but with the “GT” you get the bigger engine, dual clutch, etc
Nice car but I'm not sure it's worth the price tag especially the gt1 would be 38k roughly.
The starting noise sounds like the intro to Needy by Ariana Grande lmao
Lolll
ALL season tires!!! Wtf!!! I had Michelin sports on my optima gt! All season is not tires it's total crap!
My best friend leased one and shes about to return it. She has no intentions of buying it! Shes disappointed with the glitchy infotaiment and other things I dont remember. I rode on it and it was ok but not terrific….
Was it a GT or a GT Line?
Maybe you should try riding IN IT.
To start off was it a GT? Or a gt line? HUGE difference! And also the infotainment doesn't glitch 😂 I literally have owned mine for over 2 years and never had a problem
Apparently a kia/hyundai hater spitting bullsh*t without ever having ridden any of their cars. Get a life....and a good one 😂
DUDE, I’m in love with this car, but I’m afraid of buying it because it’s a Kia… what should I do?
Lease it and if you have problems, turn it in at the end of the lease
For 33k I must have 4wheel drive
At the price point, I think it’s fair that’s it’s FWD, but I would pay $1,500-2,000 for AWD as an option
Love the k5 gt but for the price Elantra N is faster and better overall
I think I'll have to do a vid with one
Not in the looks dept, and the k5 is big enough for 4 people making a cross country trip would be comfortable in. People in the back seat in an Elantra would be miserable .
@@johnfranklin5277
Exactly! I needed the extra room and decided to get the K5.
@@johnfranklin5277Have you actually been inside the elantra N? Plenty of space in the back....
@@taemeister9302 I bought a new 2017 Elantra new. Its been a great car, just turned 100.000 miles and has required 0 repairs, and has 0 issues. But it is cramped for back seat passengers. I have rode back there and definitely would not want to be back there on a road trip. My 2021 kia K5 GT LINE is much more spacious, and I would be ok back there for a long road trip. I have kept the Elantra, its in like new condition, Southern California car, and I use it for my 80 mile round trips to work. The K5 is just much nicer and is a great freeway cruiser, and a real pleasure to drive.
Nice job kid :)
Thank you king David 👑👑
Super nice KIA
Definitely
I love mine it’s so much fun to drive. I just wish it had wireless Apple car play and usb c ports 😔 but i love this car nonetheless
It needs wireless carplay!
What do you mean? I use my Apple phone wirelessly every day
Wireless Apple CarPlay or bluetooth audio?@@SFCBEITZ
@@703Speed Bluetooth, but that doesn’t limit me from anything does it?
I dont like those black mirrors. Must have ordered from a parts supplier that ran out of white paint.
awd or lsd
FWD
Too bad this isnt wireless apple car play and Android Auto really sucks. But what is worse is they didn't use usb-c connections and instead went with thise old USB-A which is being phased out.
I will take synthetic leather over real leather all day long especially if you buy a German car. My Neighbor has a 2015 Dodge Journey with cloth/synthetic leather with 175,000 miles on the odometer and the interior looks like new. Their leather (German) seems to crack and show wear early on. What is the purpose of Dual Clutch transmissions? The one in my friend's former Audi was sloppy, jumpy, and ill-shifting.
Good point. Can't really tell the difference between them anyway
