If fathers understood the damage they can cause by walking away, being abusive, or just being absent I think they would try harder. My dad left when I was around nine, and it killed me..I wondered if my father did not love me enough to stay around how can anyone else.. He came back years later, but I was so broken that it took years to heal. I now know that I have a Father that would never abandon me, a Father who loves me unconditionally, a Father who does not judge by my sins but by the potential that he sees in me. Thank you for Loving me God..

It's not easy to forgive when you've been hurt so much. That's what makes this movie, knowing it really happened, so incredible.
That movie made me and my boyfriend cry so hard. It was so good but so sad, and it felt so weird seeing Dennis play an abusive dad as he seems like a wonderful guy.

I never heard of the movie. I don’t listen to music often and hardly ever watch a movie. I just heard the song about five years ago right before my husband died. I wasn’t so crazy about Dennis Quaid, but I rented the movie and I’m going watch it. How can this not affect a person.

We were suprized we had to sit Seperate...the theatre was so packed st Patrick's day. But it felt like we were ALL family anyway, especially when everyone at the end stood up clapping. Great experience!!

Tonight 13/03/2019, friend of mine gave me a movie and asked me to watch. So I did. I'm amazed because i had heard and listened to that music I CAN ONLY IMAGINE but I don't know the real story of it. Thank God I came to know the real story of the song and thank God He save life of many through this movie and I hope it will change the life of actors first... Amen

What I can't figure out is, if the band Mercy Me was formed in 1994 after Bart's father died in 1991, how does one explain the scene where Bart comes back home to live with his father while taking a break from touring with the band? Would be interesting to know the real story.

What a beautiful and inspiring movie.. how God can take rough characters & make them into the best version of themselves, thru what our Lord Jesus did for us on the cross.. Was very glad to hear that Dennis did in fact receive the Lord. I loved the entire movie, but the best part for me was when Bart "saw" his Dad alone in the audience, in his "Heaven" clothes... Reminded me of my own beloved & so missed husband, now over 2 years with the Lord himself.

I watch the movie and it made me cry. My dad was a monster too. He abused all of us. My mom left with me. My sister and brother stayed with my dad. I little contact with him over 30 years . Finally became a Christian, I forgave him. Got to know him again. We see snd talk often. My mom died in 2012 so did my sister. God put a good man in my love that showed me true Christian love. I can’t do this life without the glory of Jesus Christ and the power of God.❤️
Dennis has played the mean, abusive father role in a lot of other movies too. I always find it hilarious how the actors who play evil villains or huge ***holes in movies and shows are just the nicest people you'll ever meet in real life.
I agree. There is that saying of “The actor is not the character” - which I agree with. The actors who play mean people in movies are usually quite nice in real life, and they realize how it takes a lot of courage to play someone who’s very different from them in real life.

I think he did Awesome in this movie and it touched my heart, I was abused when i was a teenager, and I had to forgive my Mom which i am still forgiving her, cause she still abuse me with her words to me. but I had to move far away. because it hurts too much, but I pray Jesus will save her before she dies, she is 87 and a catholic. and says she loves Jesus but her words when she speaks sometimes does not sound like a christian. her heart has bitterness and I pray Jesus will heal her of all the bitterness.
Dear Debra, I know you don't know me but I can relate. You look pretty young and I can tell you it gets better. I must self-supported Christian Missionary living in Taiwan.
You just got to remember Christians are imperfect humans just like everyone else. We all make mistakes and say things out of anger. We all fall short daily. Keep praying and remember salvation is of the Lord. We can’t force Christ on anyone or we will do the opposite effect and drive them away. God Bless
