Turns out 100% synthetic and full synthetic are the same thing. Apparently, Amsoil is a 100% blend of group 3 and group 4 base stock just like full synthetics are. Pursuant to a 1990’s law suit between Castrol and Mobil 1, courts ruled that group 3 and 4 base oils are synthetic, therefore any oil that contains one or both of those groups, regardless of proportions, can be called synthetic. So as long as Amsoil contains group 3, even if it’s 100% group 3, they can legally call it 100% synthetic. Thus, 100% synthetic and full synthetic are synonymous. Amsoil admitted this in one of their own blogs.

So from what I guessed. You warmed up the oil a bit. The AMSoil drained more because AMSoil flows better cold or hot. Meaning the AMSoil drained more. When running engines and draining them for maintenance you typically want more oil from the previous change to drain. Unless you want some old material staying in the new change. AMSoil > Mobil One. Next time you should weigh how much oil drained from both crank cases. It would show which one flowed better out the crank case. Because better flow on start up also indicates better protection on start up. Not which one drains less because it flows less on start up so it stays in the crank case

Thx
I'm not sure what this proves. I'm pretty sure you could find some sort of non motor oil that would adhere to metal better than standard synthetic motor oils. Then when drained from the system that oil would provide enough protection to beat your test. However that oil would be a one trick pony and would never be considered a great motor oil.
Lemme explain what exactly happened. Amsoil flows much better than M#1. So when you drained em I'm pretty sure Amsoil came right out probably 99.99% and inside the engine there was almost nothing left. But M#1 probably didn't drain like amsoil did, due to flow rates in my opinion. That was probably let her go lil bit longer. But in reality no engine would survive without proper engine oil no matter what. And in this test you killed 2 engine by running em without engine oil. Remember they are engine and both were running with out oil, So one can die before other it doesn't prove anything. You could run em with oil with extreme over load to see what would happened but yea killing an engine by just adding too much load probably not enough to kill it in an hour or so. Mobile#1 full synthetic is not 100% synthetic it's minerals oil with up to 25% synthetic blend with their additives. And most experts say that 25% synthetic is over kill and more than you need maybe. In other hand Amsoil 100% synthetic and there's no minerals oil mixed but their own additives. I think amsoil is the only oil that is 100% synthetic. So if 25% synthetic blend can over kill then 100% synthetic should be over over over over(x4) kill. And Amsoil was designed to use in fighter jet type engine where you need something really heavy duty oil but they also give us a chance to use the 100% synthetic power in our regular vehicles. I been using M#1 extended performance full synthetic with M#1 oil filters in all my vehicles. From 2013 through 2020(over 7 years) then decided to try something new and used Castrol Edge advance Synthetic with M#1 oil filter for once and felt some difference. And this is no lie I felt Castro better than M#1. After 6-7 months later I changed oil brand again and used Royal purple Synthetic oil with Royal purple oil filter and I noticed difference with low engine noise and smoothness. So in my opinion Royal purple must better than Castrol edge and M#1 extended (20000miles). Big difference I noticed royal purple oil's weight lighter than others. I wanted to stick with Royal purple before I watched an full episodes of All types of synthetic oils from "project Farm". So I really wanted to give Amsoil a try because when I heard most oil companies tricking us by saying fully synthetic (which is 🤥 lie to me) but they are up to 25% synthetic blend. Where Amsoil the only oil that is 100% synthetic. Compare to others Amsoil expensive but ain't it worth? Think about 100% vs 25% synthetic oil and 15k severe service 25k normal service (1 year) and I've seen people go with amsoil over a year(I saw a guy 18 months while isn't recommended but he did) and got no issues. Even his 18 months old amsoil with 16-17k miles he ran a black stone lab test and the results were impressive with dece TBN number. So anyways I been using amsoil for last 6-7 months in 2 of my vehicles and I'm loving it. My cars runs much quiter than before and both of em ideal RpM was close to 1000 but now it's only 500-600. Thanks for reading I made it too long didn't even realized. Just shared my experience with engine oils and my opinions about Synthetic oils. Amsoil is the best synthetic oil I've ever used in my vehicles.
How is this an oil test? It’s a which engine fails with nothing In it test 🤣 you’ve have to do this with a minimum 3-5 diff engines due to building tolerances.
Oh they will get hot! put some load on em then run em wide open for hours on end with oil in em then take them completely apart and inspect them for wear. Further more you should be using small engine oil in them not automotive oils. But to run them with no oil? Till the rod bearings seize? I don't get it! Sorry
Again I’m sorry you don’t understand. Let me help you out. First off I’m not testing small engine oil. This is a lubricity/strength test. It shows how long a very small amount of oil can withstand heat and friction before completely failing. It’s actually a very common test. Many people and companies have done it to show off oil retention and film strength.

As everyone knows CHRYSLER, dodge use Mobil 1 for years @ 6900 miles that's right 6900 miles the Journey locked up..27 quarts of oil it consumed..every S.R.T. NEON VAN DUALLY I OWNED WENT STRAIGHT TO AMSOIL EXCEPT THE JOURNEY..IT WAS A DELIVERY S.U.V...NEVER LOST AN ENGINE BEFORE THIS AND AFTER THE JOURNEY..ALL HARLEYS AND ALL MY VEHICLES ARE K&N OIL FILTERS AND AMSOIL..MOBIL 1 SCORED THE WALLS ON MY WIFES 883 HARLEY 20-50....NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE MOBIL 1. Thx
Thanks for the comment
Sounds like someone is salty cuz Amsoil got whooped😂
lol this vid is gunna pisss off all the amsoil folks
@@AlexHernandez-vg4qw not at all
That was the 80's man, you have to let it go, just saying motor on.
Mobil1 is literally mineral based... It's not real synthetic and they don't even sell a small engine oil. How is this even a competition
Who cares as long as it's doing its job cleaning your engine?
I'm not sure what this proves. I'm pretty sure you could find some sort of non motor oil that would adhere to metal better than standard synthetic motor oils. Then when drained from the system that oil would provide enough protection to beat your test. However that oil would be a one trick pony and would never be considered a great motor oil.
STICK WITH MOBIL1 THERE CHEAPER AND BETTER THAN AMSOIL
AMSOIL IS GOOD BUT TESTS SHOWS THE ONLY THING "PREMIUM" ABOUT AMSOIL IS THE PRICE
M1 wins on flow test in whole Internet, check at Project Farm and some others, that thows all above text away....
Amsoil lost. Deal with it.
Amsoil by a mile if high zinc
Amsoil is just an overpriced ok oil but not better than mobil1
How is this an oil test? It’s a which engine fails with nothing In it test 🤣 you’ve have to do this with a minimum 3-5 diff engines due to building tolerances.
Amsoil is far better than mobile 1 running no oil is a crap shoot and no testament to the oil.
Mobil 1 has the best esters. They research much more and are much more advanced.
Amsoil
Totally wrong.
It was a very surprising outcome to say the least.
Useless test
Explain
Get your head out of the sand!!
Amsoil
Savanah Greenwood in what application?
Love Like a Hurricane huh? He said to guess which one would last longer so I guessed lol. I use royal purple in my Ralliart and conventional cheap crap in my Honda daily.
