I hope the government can see this comment We need new weapons in the SANDF as well as new forms of training I say this as a soon to be recruit, I wanted to join the army all my life as I admired the discipline and heroism it instilled in my heart I understand we are far away from futuristic weaponry so When it comes to basic firearms Skeletonized rifles for greater mobility We need new infantry weapons that are cross compatible with enemy weapon munitions For example such as a version of the R5 that can use an enemy AK47 magazine Piccitiny rails as well for tactical advantage We need standard issue attachments for our soldiers as well, not just for the special forces Suppressors, scopes, foregrips etc On the topic of self defence, We also need better melee weapons I think, better knives and axes, they need to be trained better in fighting martial arts that actually render them deadly to the enemy, (when it comes down to it their ammo will run out ). (Boxing simply will not cut it) Better night vision, thermal vision etc
South Korea is the 9th largest arms manufacturer of arms aiming to be in the top 4. Their military industrial complex contributes $17 billion a year, this is a country that has the same population as South Africa, with a much smaller land mass & almost no mineral resources. South Africa has Dennel & private companies in the defence sector which could contribute immensely to our GDP. It is unfortunate to say that the business of conflict is profitable and South Africa should capitalise on it.
I'm glad he answered that question in the manner that he did. Having the UAV was not gonna prevent the deaths. The US has great equipment but they bring home d@#d bodies every year. Sadly we always get judged in an inferior complex when things happen even if they are common
With the SAPS I believe we need help from outside, with training and organization. Good recruitment policy, people who go into policing just for the just make bad police officers because you can't get rich from the job.

I understand we are far away from futuristic weaponry so
When it comes to basic firearms
Skeletonized rifles for greater mobility
We need new infantry weapons that are cross compatible with enemy weapon munitions
For example such as a version of the R5 that can use an enemy AK47 magazine
Piccitiny rails as well for tactical advantage
We need standard issue attachments for our soldiers as well, not just for the special forces
Suppressors, scopes, foregrips etc

I hope they see this brother thanks for this comments. Much needed. Salut
South Africa should find out why conflicts prevail in those countries before jumping the gun, otherwise you just invite troubles for yourself
