    Many of you in this comment section need to rest and give it up for the South Africans. South Africa alone has successfully created and exported more than 10 genres of music. And I'm not talking about your local village genres that remain just within your communities; I mean genres that are internationally recognized. How many can each of your countries boast of? 🤔 And I'm not even South African. So when it comes to music genre creation, leave it to them.

  • @emmanuelkanahyasharahla1449

    Blessing King, we must pay homage to all parties who contributed to the Amapiano sound, starting with disco which gave birth to house music out of the USA Chicago, Detroit,New York, New Jersey, and Philly. Which gave birth to the House Music sound which spreaded Internationally. Deep House Music spread to South Africa, which became Afro-House and Deep Afro-House. A combination of Afro-House,Jazz, African Tribal Sound, and Hip-hop became known Kwaito sound. That sound is the mashup slowed down version of what was created in South Africa Amapiano sound. Now you have Nigeria mixing Afrobeats sound with Amapiano sound. The contributors to the sound I would have say a combination of Black and Latino Americans, South Africans, and Nigerians. Also, Ghanaians with High Life sound. Many contributed to the sound of Amapiano sound. Which is sweeping the world right now. Keep the fire blazing.

    Wait until you hear that the Wizkid song came about because Wizkid (a Nigerian) put DJ Maphorisa (one of South Africa's biggest producers) on the sound when Amanpiano hadn't blown up. It gained even more traction in South Africa thanks to DJ Maphorisa and other renowned artists, inspiring Davido and the rest of Nigeria to adopt it.

    • @decepticon8000
      @decepticon8000 5 місяців тому

      No lol, Maphorisa was in Afro-house and had produced some classic albums for big SA afro-pop artists. His contribution to amapiano was in finding artists who already had had a mature sound in amapiano and brought them to the mainstream - the genre was underground. He also had a way of packaging the song that allowed them to produce, master and release tons of songs within weeks, which is what caused the genre blow up in the mainstream space, and later internationally as well.
      South African house fans who understands the SA style of making music will tell you the true evolution of amapiano from kwaito to deep house, to tribal house and the 'slow jam style of deep house that eventually went underground. To eventually reimerge as what you guys now know as Amapiano. Wizkid is one of my favourite artists in the world but his involvement with Maphorisa had no influence on the amapiano sound - as Phori's main contribution to the genre is work ethics and status. He is one hell of a producer so take nothing away from him, but he has not produced any piano song that added/advanced the sound of Amapiano.
      And I stand to be corrected but I think his first song with Wizkid is "My Soweto baby" and Maphorisa became one of his in-house producers from there onwards, he was helping out with Wizkid albums and not the other way around. We found out about their working relationship when drake wanted a Wizkid feature and Maphorisa tagged along as part of his team. The song was called One Dance.

    @emotioncontrolla In early Amapiano songs, even before the log drum was introduced in the genre, you would get these jazz or piano solo's which they would play. You rarely hear them on the popular/ commercial songs now but when you listen to albums, you will hear these piano solo melodies. Artists like Kelvin Molmo, Gaba Canal, MFR Souls heavily still use the piano/ jazzy element. They just are unknown outside SA so you won't hear that piano sound that much. That's were the name Amapiano comes from. MFR Souls coined the term Amapiano and they used these piano melodies.

      Amapiano is South African period - music, dance, culture and lifestyle, and South Africans will educate the world whenever impostors rear their ugly heads. Fortunately there is only one impostor nation and everyone knows who they are. I respect Davido for having respectfully declared he is 'only a guest in the amapiano house'.

    Unpopular Opinion: Asake and Magic Sticks are running the Amapiano sound in Africa. These men have been dropping Yanos hits consistently over the past two years and Asake is doing better than our SA artist internationally. My fellow South Africans will fight me on this but they don't even listen to music outside SA.
    Lastly, Nigerian fans must stop this thing of calling Amapiano a sub-genre of Afrobeats or calling an Amapiano song sang by Niaja artist Afrobeats when you can hear the shakers, the horn, the log drums, etc. Afrobeats never used these elements before but now you hear them on a lot of "Afrobeats" songs. We've seen how Ghana has been erased by clueless fans from Afrobeats history.
    We won't let that happen here in the South.

      As a Nigerian, I 100 % agree
      Amapiano is a whole different genre and just because we Nigerians love the sound and are inspired by it doesn’t mean we should put it under AFROBEAT..
      but unfortunately it is actually the western media that tries to group amapiano under Afrobeat
      This all started with the name “afrobeatssss” like what is the S for? And it was created to purposely group all sounds from Africa.. which to me is Trash
      Amapiano has come so far and I can tell you every Nigerian is proud to see SA going worldwide.. it gives us joy and we want to see AMAPIANO in bold letters on big stages

      @@kelvinsamson903 😭😭 the amapiano Nigerians make isn’t even amapiano it’s just log drums. The only real amapiano songs were Ke star remix by Davido and champion sound. The rest were just Nigerians abusing the log drums in their afrobeats and then calling it amapiano 😂. Amapiano was already big in europe before Nigerians came on it and also the genre wasn’t designed to go international that’s why most songs aren’t even in English. Cause it’s for us not for the world.
