  • This is a ride around town that I filmed (29 min) in November 1981. Larry Gibbs was driving the truck and I was using an JVC suitcase style VCR + camera to video tape.. The video is a bit shaky and there may be some course language used but nothing too bad. It shows the area around Turner road and the lake and downtown a bit and out south towards Century Blvd. We go by some our past homes and end up at what was Harris Pine mills on Stockton St. I will see if the youtube video system can stabilize some of the shaky stuff.

Great time watching this! I would have been 9 years old, and I lived in those apartments he called "instant slums" on Century Blvd. I vividly remember that construction on church street where he thought they moved in houses. They were building some condos. Thanks for sharing this look at my childhood!

Born in Lodi in 62, left Lodi in 83! Wish the city would not have changed anything! Came back to visit this year and felt like Marty Mcfly from Back to the Future! Thanks for bringing back the memories!

My grandparents lived at 336 Louie Ave from 1975 to 1996. I spent most of my summers with them at that house when I was growing up. I have so many wonderful memories of spending my summers in Lodi. I would go with them to Loel Center every weekday. I still love Lodi so much. I come up there to visit often. I was last up there in October. I will be buried at Cherokee Memorial Park near my maternal uncle and grandfather. I love Lodi so much and I still do to this day. I see you were driving north on Chruch St heading towards Louie Ave at one point. I would have leapt for joy if you had turned left on Louie Ave and gone past 336 Louie Ave. Thank you for this video.

I was 8 years old in 1981, just old enough to really remember most of this stuff. Although I forgot about it until now.

I was 8, too. Born and raised in Lodi. He drove right by my old house.
