I saw these fellas play Utrecht in 1978 and it changed my life. I mean, I wasn't born for another 9 years and I've never been to Utrecht but I think that just proves my point.

There "kind of" is a film based on that idea. "A Spinal Tap Reunion: The 25th Anniversary London Sell-Out" from -92 is mostly a Concert (an actual one) mixed with shorter interviews, and some references to the original "This is Spinal Tap".
Agree...perhaps they shouldn't call it Spinal Tap so there is no diluting of the legacy and these old guys could be trying to pass themselves off as a new band, even a cover band on a cruise ship, after getting a few claps on the ship decide to start a band and tour. Hard to think of how much lower point than a puppet show however. Maybe if trailer parks had concerts

A lot of improv is keeping jokes in your pocket for later. It's also possible that that he was hoping someone else would pick up on "acid reflux." It's not as funny if you do the rejoinder yourself, but you can.
Their Acceptance Speech would be Eleven Minutes, in duration and the Hall of Fame only goes to 10, Minutes, in duration, in regards to Acceptance Speeches.
Anyone who truly understands and "gets" the humour of Spinal Tap is someone that I very quickly become friends with. Its almost like a litmus test when meeting new people.

I think the most amazing thing is that before they even started filming Spinal Tap, they created a whole biography for all the band members and the band. This is why it all seems so natural: the discography may be fictional, but they know it so well it might just as well be real.

Well, he based much of the character on a really dumb (or stoned) bass player who he saw, in the mid 70's, argue with his manager over his missing bass guitar.

Hello Komo Lee Ray… There will be a “This is Spinal Tap 2” to commemorate the 40th anniversary release of the original in 1984. I hope the magic and comic genius will still be there. A few of the actors from the original are gone now and knowing Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer they will bring in good improve actors to keep the silliness to maximum levels. I hope it will be as good as the first one.
Incredible, the way they bounce and further the topic off of each other, none of them looking for the punch line but just playing with it and appreciating and having confidence in each others' input. True chemistry and unselfishness. Makes for such a spirit of light-hearted humor. Each one committed to appearing clueless, yet there is a wisdom underlying it all. I loved the bit about meditation and silence being a waste of time and that God needed rock and roll music as background music in order to create. Genius.

Incredible, the way they bounce and further the topic off of each other, none of them looking for the punch line but just playing with it and appreciating and having confidence in each others' input. True chemistry and unselfishness. Makes for such a spirit of light-hearted humor. Each one committed to appearing clueless, yet there is a wisdom underlying it all.
I loved the bit about meditation and silence being a waste of time and that God needed rock and roll music as background music in order to create. Genius.

These guys are amazing, and they have "tapped" into a brilliant concept in that it doesn't matter how old they get, they can still be Spinal Tap, washed up and living in the past, because that just makes it funnier! We have real rocknrollers who are in their 70's, so Tap can keep going forever!

Listening to this interview with these legends is more incredible than back in '87 when I had the honor of hearing "big bottom" live at Madison Square Garden. Their sound is so distinct, albeit "a distinction without a difference."
