- Indrukwekkende beelden van de operaties van de Amerikaans 82nd en 101nd Airborne Divisie tijdens de invasie van Frankrijk.
Impressive record of the operations of the U.S. 82nd and 101nd Airborne Divisions in the 1944 invasion of France. Shows paratroops, gliders and troop carriers landing in France behind the German lines a day prior to the main invasion, helping to prepare the way for the invasion of Normandy.

My dad was with the 82nd for Normandy (507 PIR) - very much my hero in life.
My grandfather was a pathfinder at Normandy (504 PIR), wind caught his parachute and he crashed through a farmhouse roof in the Netherlands after which he had to recite a codeword at gunpoint to prove he was American, he went on to fight in Market Garden, Bastogne, Holland, and Italy. He also played a role in liberating a concentration camp but i have little info on which one specifically. He survived the war with frostbite, although unfortunately I never got to meet him.
he did (in order): Italy, (if he is 504 he probably fought at Anzio, he didnt jump there Anzio was a naval assault) operation Overlord (D-Day), then he did operation Market Garden (in holland--> the Netherlands), then he fought in Bastogne. If he liberated a concentration or POW camp (stalag) he probably fought/was deployed in Germany as well.
I doubt he did a lot in bastogne since the 82nd wasn't deployed there, so I am thinking you are making this up but whatever, could have bin transfered or something, if you want to know more about the 504th read 'strike and hold'
No i do not have a life
also he coulda jumped in Sicily in 43 i forgot about that one
When he fell through the roof, it must have been during Market Garden as that was in Holland, not on D-Day
Airborne All the way!!!!
My grandpa was killed in the first wave. So I don’t have any wonderful, heroic stories to tell about how he fought and killed and then liberated the people of Europe. Strange how no one mentions all the killings and deaths their relatives did during the war.
being airborne these days is obsolete but i cant help but to feel a massive sense of pride everytime im doing a routine practice jump just trying to imagine the size of balls these dudes must have had jumping into combat with no idea if they were even going to live
As a former paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne I can tell there are 3 brigades and one of then is on mission cycle and packed ready to go anywhere in the world and be in the air wheels up within 18 hours currently at Fort Bragg, NC. ua-cam.com/video/_bxyxQqnNC4/v-deo.html

God bless you grandfather 82 airborn Chester Earl Graham
Couldn’t you at least find a picture with the 82nd’s patch on the sleeve!!!
Thank you grandad for your service on d-day with the 82nd airborne division
Great video thx !!
The picture is of the 101st Airborne, not the 82nd airborne (shoulder patch).
A salute all the paratroopers in ww2 risk their lives to achieve peace.
From 3:27 - 3:45. Why we no longer win any wars we fight in.
Sharpening bayonets and praying? Lol… no. The battlefield is completely different and we don’t fight a conventional force anymore. We win every battle, but winning lasting peace is vastly more complex. Dumb comment.
You really are obtuse, aren’t you? You couldn’t find a better metaphor for that generation than “sharpening bayonets and prayer” but you, being a product of the post 60’s generation will never understand it.
Oh, yeah, and for your “we win every battle” boast; perhaps you haven’t noticed but we just lost a 20 year war to third world goatherders fought by the finest 6% of the millennial generation because the leadership are irreligious and amoral. Virtues don’t come out of a cereal box, dummy.
Name one we lost.. if you mean Vietnam and Afghanistan those are political defeats..we had essentially no troops there.
They jumped from 400 feet?! Holy crap.
The longer you’re in the air the longer you get shot at.
my dad too 82nd St Mere Eglise
I was in the 1/508th in the 70’s …. Storied unit with much esprit de corps. Airborne All The Way!!

Looking for info on my grandfather Lester McLaney from this time.
Nobody alive today could carry those guys's lunch pail those guys were a breed apart thanks to them or not speaking German
You better believe it!!!! Americans today could NOT do a Dday such as was done in Ww2!! And that's what our military leaders now are banking on. There will never be another Ww2 type of warfare. It's their only hope or we are doomed with this weakened woke military we have!!
Bravo WW2 men❤

Such a sales pitch movie. 🎥
So Sanitized to sell War bonds. Making it sound like it was a sporting event. And not the Horrors blood 🩸 and guts of war. Not much has changes in government. Bar non the Greatest Generation.
And the Disrespect of what’s happening to America 🇺🇸 for the sacrifices these boys made is FUBAR!
🫡🙌🙌
Sales pitch why not? and things are effed up beyond all recognition because of people like Trump and Biden...
Wow, what a great propaganda piece of crap. Sounded like a wonderful happy experience. However, many of those soldiers never made it onto solid ground at Normandy. They fell into the water and drowned mostly because of the heavy weight of all their gear and equipment. They spent 18 months training to never be in combat and only 19 years old! Most guys who brag about being in D-Day were in the 2nd and 3rd waves who had a much easier time.
America 🇺🇸❤😍🥰😘💐 From Greece🇬🇷
