I've reached the point in Palworld that I reached with Baldur's Gate 3 early access where It's time to put it on the shelf because I like what it's doing so much that I have to see it in it's final form. I don't want to ruin it for myself.
Yea you can definitely see where improvements could be made. With Rimworld style prioritizations, better pathing, fixing models from getting stuck in geometry, adding buildable infinite Ore/Coal/Sulfur deposits. The game is great but there's definitely room for improvement and even it's story is currently unfinished as you can't even go to that Giant Elden Ring looking Tree yet or the Island it's on. Their patches have already added some good QoL stuff though and if they keep it up, when the game is finished it's definitely going to be amazing. I mean they launched into Early Access with 3 types of mounts you can ride, (Air, Sea, Land) with the ability to shoot your normal weapon while riding them and equip them with different abilities of your choosing to aim and use while riding them. That's so huge when you realize how many Survival games don't even have mounts lol.
This was a great one for sure. Loved the interview at the end. And I have never seen Ezekiel_III so happy, who could guess he would be so enthusiastic about a non retro game ^_^
The whole "everyone is making live service games" article was such a great example of how media doesn't understand research or how to report on it. Reporting that 95% stat without explaining their definition of live service misled a lot of people.
Im willing to bet any game that gets more than 0 patches after launch is counted as a 'live service' game.
Their definition of live service, that I could find, is: any regular update cadence planned for a game. They specifically call out this being different to a DLC model, and since it's a 'regular cadence' I'm guessing it won't include incidental patches to fix bugs or add new content after a couple years, but only include a planned cycle (like leagues in Path of Exile or similar).
I checked a couple articles on it and they did explain the survey's definition. Kotaku, GamesIndustryBiz and Insider Gaming all included the used definition in their articles. "The survey defines live services as any regular update cadence planned for a game." It's probably more that people don't actually read articles.
Yea that whole bullshit article JP brought up is extremely misleading. The article basically referred to any game that is actively worked on post launch as a live service game. Every game should be worked on post launch, it's called quality control and patching. I'd assume the real number of live service games is actually less than 50% even from AAA developers. The writing is on the wall, gamers don't want that shit anymore. Factoring in indie or AA studios that number would be even way less as just look at how many indie games are released on Steam that aren't live service games.
Live service games is just any game that gets content updates that is not DLC, for free into the game that is considered live servicing
Damn, so fast! Thanks for the upload!
What Cohh seems to miss is that AWS can charge Twitch whatever they want for services, which means they can appear as profitable or unprofitable as they want to. Amazon also obfuscates the exact figures while they simultaneously claim that they're unprofitable as a way to justify paying streamers less, mass firings, etc. In other words, never take corporations at their word.
Great interview, answered alot of question about the game.
Cohh's reaction to "multiverse" right after he praised the tutorial of the game.
I just started playing Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and I can't wait to play Infinite Wealth!
I watched a Tekken lore video during COVID at some point and before that was pretty much the same as Cohh, knowing just Tekken 1, which in my case I played when I started college.
Tekken lore is expansive and pretty damn wild, even by anime standards.

let me guess the beginning high point of the SuicideSquad lasts a bit over 2 hours, the refund time limit.
Awesome. I'm very excited for Avowed.
Why is Cohh so excited about being able to swap weapons in Avowed? That's been a standard feature in games since the 90s...
Tim Horton's got bought by a US company a few years back.
“I’m not a marvel guy” bless you Cohh… we love you anyway sir
I feel like Enshrouded was too close to release to delay for Palworld, all the ads were already spent on and queued up.
Damn JP is coping Suicide Squad so hard 😂
10,000 Turkish prime subs is $630/month taking it at 70/30. That's insane
Yeah pretty much if you don't stream in english you got shafted hard but for most ppl this is not new. UA-cam has something similar too. I can imagine some ppl either have to start streaming in english or stop.
I wish y'all had asked about performance.
I think a priorty system in palworld is good yes.
But also you really dont need it. The best pals only do like 1 thing anyway.Just use pals in your base that only do the things you want them doing. And for things that you cant avoid like mining stone i just move that into another base.
If suicide squad is a 7 out of 10 we are doomed as gamers. Its a 5 out of 10. Average. And they deleted THOUSANDS of negative reviews.
It's not even a 5, how they dismantled the Arkham Universe is impressive and deserves no more than a 2.
This is not true can you stop spreading rubbish, its crazy that so many people gamers and jouranlists alike are trying to make sure this game burns. This game is not GOTY but its decent, there is weak points but its greatly exaggerated in every review. It rerally has made me question gaming journalisim going forward
@@kayneg9941 starfields 10/10 reviews should have had you question gaming journalism at the latest
Cohh's reaction to hearing Avowed compared to Outer Worlds in scope lmao
Cohh without glasses looking like that David Blaine parody dude
I speak for all Canadians to say
Eh
It's not good anymore, your take is valid
Huge comics fan, love Marvel & DC. So darn disappointed we've not had a good game for so long. Never touched Marvel's Avengers, and will never touch Suicide Squad. Can we have a great single player Marvel/DC game please?
Sounds like Avowed is a scoped down action game. Well, a little disappointing from an RPG fan but hopefully it's still entertaining.
Twitch is making a lot of money but there spending even more paying other companies for backend services. Thing is those services there paying that massive amount of money going to services is making amazon a TON of money. Those companies are bringing in massive profite, if you think a CEO somewhere isn't buying a new yatti for there trouble then i got a bridge over NY to sell you.
"So their I was"
Pog
For me who started my Yakuza games with Like a dragon guess have it easier to like the english Kiryu cuz i have nothing to compare it to. And i just think his voice is deep and dark and just kinda fits his whole badass kit.
if cronut is croissant + donut, then is cake + donut a conut ? in other words, CohhNut?
For the Game as a service discussion, I agree with what most of the devs are saying. GaaS is the most reliable way to make a profitable game. If players don't like it, then they would probably have to pay $120-150+ per game in order for the game dev to make money.
Unless your game is going to be extremely viral and popular and you make $600M in 2 months, you will not be able to be profitable with a Triple A, non-GaaS game most of the time with a $60-70 price point. That's just the new reality
we learned nothing new from that obsidian interrview... the only interesting tidbit was about her and her husband playing like a dragon.... Not blaming her btw.... pretty sure cohh didn't learn anything new either.
As for Avowed, aren't basic combat systems some of the most complicated and labor-intensive things to change in a game? If it's going to be redone until the game comes out in autumn the person responsible for this will have a stressful few months.
Cohh: I have way too many games to paly right now that are open ended
Me: you mean yakuza right? becaue where you ended the main story on I think a few days ago. is about only 34% through the story. I have the game on ps5 and it says 34% story completion. so yeah, this is a LONG fucking game. lol
Hasn't he spent the last 10+ hours on the resort minigame? I love it haha.
Eliminating the cap on the 70/30 is huge. Actually feels like 70/30 now.
finally. i missed my weekly dose.
Canadian here ... Tim's is trash coffee.
Cohh talking over everyone constantly made this episode real hard to listen to
Want to watch a decent Suicide Squad story thrown in between repetitive Sunset Overdrive gameplay? That'll be $70 (plus tips), please
Glad that obsidian is working to improve the combat because what they showed was really bad
I have no idea what people are seeing that I'm not. The combat seems fine? Like nothing extraordinary but definitely good enough.
Man obsidian just keeps refering to The Outer Worlds when discussing Avowed and that's probably the worst thing they could tell me about the game 😂... i deeply disliked TOW.. worst game by obsidian IMO.
PagMan
Zeke hates dogs
❤
Avowed sounds like a baby game.
With all the Palworld talk I would love to see you guys bring on a Poketuber or a Pokémon streamer to talk about Palworld and how it could impact Pokémon games going forward. Would be very fun to see that.
Just like to throw out there that I'm not watching Cohh play Infinite Wealth because hes playing in English. I hope Zeke chooses Japanese voice acting.
Yeah him playing in english on every game that has it really killed the hype I had for his yakuza playthroughs.
Underwhelming after the avowed stuff, may lower my expectations a lot.
The most cookie cutter answers from that interview lol
I was honestly hoping for something more ambitious from Obsidian, but this seems anything but that.
The old studios we used to love are all dead. All of them have had the talent and passion squeezed out of them via repeated layoffs after years of record profit.
Marvel really fumbled the bag with Suicide Squad smh
Wonder how it will affect the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Suicide squad is with DC, buddy. Not marvel. Also rocksteady developed that game.
Suicide squad looks bad. Give us another batman
Far as Avowed, first person magic is just so badly done in most games and from the footage they showed it looks like it still is going to be pretty bad. The problem is giving the player a real sense of feedback with their magic, like with guns or arrows, the impact is there, you see the arrow fly through the sky, you hear the gun fire and see the enemy get knocked back. With magic you're trying to add impact to something that doesn't exist in our real world. So I think the only way to make it feel good is make them act more similarly to bows or guns. They should get rid of the whole wands system and they should just apply the ranged magic systems to the bows and guns instead. Focus more on like Arcane Archer or Arcane Gunslinger classes. With the Grimoire, it could still work, but you really have to make it feel good and that's hard to pull off in a first person game. 3rd person would be a lot easier to pull off.
Take Dragon's Dogma for instance, first off it's 3rd person which makes it a lot easier for magic to look cooler, via animations and special effects centered on the character, but also, they make spells that are over-the-top and bombastic for a reason. (You summon like giant tornadoes and cause meteors to fall from the sky) That reason is because magic would feel lame otherwise, like if you're just spamming little firebolts or magic missiles it's not gonna feel anywhere as good as just shooting a bow or hitting something with a 2handed weapon. You have to make magic bombastic and crazy powerful (if on a long cd) just to make it feel as cool as other classes.
cohh will never have an original opinion on anything
Obsidiam bring back Chris Avelone you are missing his genius in your games.
Doesn’t need Chris, just needs Josh Sawyer. The games that he doesn’t work on are mid, that’s why Outer Worlds was so lame.
@Mohgenstein Chris is good at writing really quickly and coming up with complex plots. However he is always over ambitious so it's really pointless to bring him on if you don't have the resources for the story he wants to tell then.
theoretically, having region pricing allowed people who couldn't sub previously to sub cuz its cheaper
Aware embracer group incident t
Me at the start of podcast: "Wonder what their thoughts on Suicide Squad are"
Me at the end of podcast: "Fuck me I want some donuts"
Nah, I want a cronut, never heard of them before.
