I just found one for 20 bucks at my local goodwill! Thanks for showing me how to use it. Great condition original case and coronamatic branded cartridge. Very big day for me. It works flawlessly!
whohoo!
I found one at $40… i wish i couldve gotten it for $20
@@parinuser got mine for $5!
I just bought this machine at an estate sale for $12 . Works perfectly. It did take me a minute to figure out the backspace button.
I just got one for free and was absolutely lost on how to use a typewriter as I've never used one and this was so helpful to replace the cartridge and give me an idea on how to use
I have this in blue. It was given to me by a mutual friend who was moving out of town and never used it. I love this machine to death! I'm a poet/writer. I love how chunky and efficient it is. I've also never had to change the cartridge, so I hope the process is smooth.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! If you ever need a fresh cartridge, you can find it in our shop!
Wow! Am I grateful you posted this! Got one at an estate sale and could NOT figure out how to replace the cartridge. Priceless video!
Yea!!
Amazing machine for people that type fast
I had this exact model in college. I bought it in the summer of 1980 for $219. That was a lot of money in 1980. It was a workhorse. Nothing ever went wrong with it. I gave it away in 1987 when I got my first computer.
WOW. That is a lot of money for that back then. Almost the same as what you can get them for now.
But mine was brand new. 🙂@@JotTittleVintageTypewriters
I owned one in the late ‘70s/early 80s; I now prefer a vintage manual. But… no doubt these are great for older typists with finger/hand/arm mobility issues (arthritis, sore wrists, bad shoulder, etc.). That never occurred to me when I was younger.
Good point.
What the heck is ''chunkiness" on a typewriter? Nice machine.
I think she means that it’s a violent carriage return. It’s quite a jolt. I have the Coronet Automatic 12 which uses the standard ribbons instead of the cartridges.
I just picked one of these up at a yard sale! My only problem is that it stays at the right margin. When I hit return, it automatically returns to the right margin. Any suggestions?
Not without seeing it in person. You'll probably need to find a repair person
I have a Smith Corona Coronomatic Super 12 and the carriage won't stay at the left margin to begin typing. It always goes back to the right margin, and then I can't type! Any suggestions?
Your drawband is broken. You'll need a professional repair person to fix it.
Hello! I have the blue one and I bought it at a flea market, the machine works great but the film stuff is loose and isn’t tight within the spool so when I type it is faint, how do I tighten the film within the cartridge without damaging it?
You need a new cartridge. We have them in our shop: www.jotandtittletypewriters.com/shop
This is a great typwriter for a fast typist.
She makes it sound not such a good typwriter. It's a good typwriter.
Each typewriter is different. At the time I created this video, it was specifically for THIS typewriter and for those interested in purchasing it. Since then, I now make individual demo videos private and create tutorials for the public.
I seriously need this type of machine to buy with additional Films. Please let me know how I can get it from any part of the world.
We have the replacement cartridges on our website: vintagetypewriters.myshopify.com/products/coronomatic-cartridge
Is there a way to replace the ribbon inside the cartridge!? I'm wondering this because they will run out on "new" old cartridges eventually
See my reply on the other comment
@@JotTittleVintageTypewriters There isn’t another comment regarding the ink ribbons for these.
@@juancastellon7183 It was on another video this person had commented on. Basically, no to replacing the ribbon in the cartridge. But you can purchase new cartridges on our website at www.jotandtittletypewriters.com/shop
Theoretically you could probably open the cartridge, remove the ribbon, re-ink it and spool it back into the mechanism. But I'd imagine with the way it's fed through that may be difficult.
@@DamianNoctem well I saw somthing with rejuvenating the ink by spreading some WD-40 on the ribbon, sponging the exess and letting it dry on a paper towel...without taking it all out of the cartridge....I'll cross that bridge if I have to lol
The Coronomatic cartridge on the one I just got is stuck. Just will not come out unless I was to break it. Can anybody help me figure out why or how to fix it
Sorry. Not sure. We've never had one where the cartridge is stuck.
