A lot of great moments are „lost“ yes, but it’s a campaign with literally hundreds of hours of stuff into an animated series a fraction of that. It does allow them to make the story more streamlined and coherent, improve upon things and make new jokes. It doesn’t erase or throw away the original campaign, so both are still valid. And while Vox Machina is a great series, there will also always be the need to watch the compilations of great moments from the campaign.
I feel like Laura sometimes got a little *too* in character with Jester, and I love every moment of it. She talks as Jester and then she finishes and Laura gets back in the driver seat wondering what the heck she just said.
I saw her playing Jester first, and at time I didn't know anything about the group and their background in voice acting. I used to think this was her baseline personality. When I first heard her talking out of character my jaws dropped. She has insane skills. (Hot take, but I like her even better as Imogen.)

Jester is SUCH an incredible character. Whilst first coming across as this adorable, socially no-boundaries, say what you like, crazy tiefling: turns out to be all of the above. But she was also the chosen of what she thought of as a trickster God, whilst also not being allowed the same social graces because of her mother's reputation, so her turning out as she is seems... logical? Laura then rolled stat dice and had crazy stats across the board. I AM surprised she didn't multiclass, as she liked combat over heals, imagine Jester with a couple levels of Fighter for action surge. 🤔

Critical Keaton on TikTok has a video from a Talks Machina that isn't available anymore where Laura discovers exactly that because she notices it in the camera. Then her and Travis repeat said raspberries and absolutely lose it. So funny
matt needs so much kudos for being the perfect straight man (in the comedy sense) in the bug carrying bread scene bc i am not sure i could have pulled that off with a straight face if laura bailey was in front of me

Same. I've been here since campaign 1. Loved them all but Campaign 3 is my favorite. It's the first campaign where I've clicked with every character from the start. And I think this campaign has some of their best characters. But Jester is definitely Laura's.

@@user-jt1js5mr3f Fearne, Chetney, Laudna, FCG - I think those are their best characters. Taliesin and Liam have created such rich and different characters across all three campaigns that it's hard to pick their best.
@@jonathanhibberd9983 I’m inclined to agree, except I’d make a case for Grog, because Travis played that character to PERFECTION. His comedic timing and genuine sweetness were such a delight. I think Caleb is my favorite of Liam’s, but Vax and Orym are also top tier, and Vax’s arc remains the most impactful in CR, for me. For Tal, I never connected to Molly and wasn’t too sad about what happened. Percy is my favorite, Cad is close behind, and although Ash isn’t my favorite, they seem to resonate really well with Tal and it’s still a really well done job.

When you’re really good at role play and getting into character you aren’t in full control of it. You’re thinking like a different person after all.
Laura really pulled out all of the screws with Jester. But that made the character so delightful.
