    Pink Salmon run in Puget Sound river during odd years. Often times more than a million of these salmon will be pushing up into regional rivers such as the Skagit, Snohomish, Duwamish and Green, and Puyallup Rivers. In the estuaries they can be easily targeted by casting "Humpie" or Pink Salmon twitching jigs that consist of a pink jig head with a pink hoochie glued onto it. The best times to target Pink Salmon in the estuaries and regions rivers is during late August and early September.

    One of my favorite fisheries. Catch and release on light gear till your arm gets sore.

    In the spring of the year here in the U.P. I usually troll for coho jacks until I see them surface, then I will sneak up on them and cast into the schools and have similar success to your's (as you just demonstrated). Usually we cheat in that we will tip our 1/4 ounce jigs with 1/2 a crawler or a piece of coho belly cutbait. There's no catch and release here in this fishery because the coho salmon are the best eating fish in the lake and they are highly coveted. I'll have to try gluing a Hoochie to my jigs to see how that works here.

    At the same time that you were doing this vid, I was on the banks of the mid- Skagit, doing the same but with a float, over a jig, steelhead style
    Scenery much more rural.
    Don't need heavy duty gear. I've caught them on everything from trout rods, to a 4/5 fly rod.
    Marked over 100 fish, not counting the C and R fish.

    pinks are some of my favorite fish to catch! love going down to a little medium or light and having a blast with them. like you said, they are squirelly as hell and imo fight the hardest pound for pound of all salmon. great video! over here on vancouver island they run every year too! EDIT - also, they eat really well if you catch em while they're chrome like that! they get a bad rap but they are honestly delicious!

    How far do you cast your jigs and how deep do they sink? I bought some from fred myers and they just don't cast very far or sink very fast; it just feels really bad to use them. (I did buy some from your link so I guess I will experiment with the different weights)

    • @spiltmilt
      @spiltmilt  3 роки тому +2

      I cast to where I see fish. Sometimes close, sometime 30 yards away. I don't let them sink more than a couple feet.

Is parking safe there? Thanks. Keep up the great videos.
