Fine Art TV Series - Colour In Your Life
    Season - 15
    Episode - 1
Filmed on Location at - Wanganui, New Zealand
Growing up on a farm in Wanganui (NZ) and later becoming a vet nurse means that Marie Grice has been surrounded by animals all her life. But it was not until she was recovering from a serious car accident and bedridden for months that she began to paint.
Starting with watercolours she quickly moved onto Oils and Pastels, as her technique and experience grew. Marie paints in a realism style using many fine layers, which means that her paintings show great depth and the finest of details.
Marie's work to date has mostly focussed around birds and common farm animals, her exquisite studies reminding us to acknowledge their simple beauty and dignity; qualities easy to overlook. Her work is now in high demand, with many works sold before they are finished or framed.
The Colour In Your Life fine art TV series is an art show that takes you into the everyday studios of artists from around the world. While in the studio they share their individual art techniques and art tips with the viewer in a relaxed atmosphere, with a delightfully Australian host and fellow artist, Graeme Stevenson. The artist shares with the viewer their stories of life, painting, drawing, sculpting, art workshops and any art lessons they may provide. The art TV series is currently filmed in Australia, New Zealand and the United States.
Graeme Stevenson, a world renowned artist himself, rides his Harley Davidson to the studios of artists all over the world and allows the viewers a chance to see some of the greatest artists of the world in action.
A wonderfully engaging art show. If you love creativity and the joy of looking at the world through art, then Colour In Your Life is the place to be.
Colour In Your Life is an Australian owned and produced TV art show.

I drew stick figures until I was in my 30s & stumbled on a book called "Drawing With the Right Side of the Brain" by Betty Edwards. That's when I learned to draw something upside down to cut off the verbal left portion of the brain & start using the right side to draw shapes. When I turned it right side up it was a picture. I felt cheated out of 30+ years, because no one said, it's not that you can't draw, it's that you're not looking at it right. So great to see you use the technique here. You do amazing paintings.

A tragedy changed the course of her life. Marie does what I do, turns the canvas around to different points to work. Marie's detail reminds me of miniature artist's. Speaking of which... Mr Graeme Stevenson, when will you be showcasing the miniature artists of the world?

  • @Artvideojunkie
    @Artvideojunkie 7 років тому +4

She just switched to a ..what kind of brush ?? for detail by Princeton ? At around 17:00 when she painting detail fur around the nose

    Quite impressed.
I've never been a big fan of that super- realistic kind of style ( Here in Canada, we have Robert Bateman ), but I like Marie's work. I can still see how the paint was applied, as opposed to something that just looks like a photograph. A weird question though, what easel is that? I noticed she adjusted it with one hand. Slightly easier than my home-made wall-mounted design that takes three hands to adjust.
And how's the wing Graeme? Healing better?
    Thanks.

Jamie McFarlane, Hi Jamie, thanks for your comments I have a Mabef easel and added locking Furniture Caster Wheels the (ones with the plate) so they are easily secured to the underside of the easel.
