Early start, long journey but when you get there, so worth it, great to see you got some great weather as well. Superb views and the trail looked (wildlife apart) very quiet. Looked a chilly night but I bet you soon warmed up on that rock ladder mind - tasty indeed. The trail looked very rocky and rubbly on the way up and I would not fancy walking on that ice - great effort mind, cheers Alan

That has been one heck of a hike up to the end of part one, Simon. The majestic beauty of the mountain. I'm used to undulating hills and a couple of mountains, but these are magnificent. I showed Amanda the part where you were traversing just on those pins/spikes with the one missing. She was like, no way. I take it that this was the point you broke your arm? Did you have to pay for the rescue, or does your travel insurance cover it or us it like the UK. Free at the point of contact. I can't wait for part 2. Were you pinned and plated? I'm assuming this is the one. Irregardless Simon, such beauty and so well shown and explained, too. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Simon. Such a wonderful hike and great climb. It looked very challenging. Love all the beautiful views of the mountain. Absolutely a wonderful place to explore. Enjoy the week.
thank you for uploading videos like this for those who of us like me who probably wont make it that high up the mountain. very informative. have a great week!
Love watching you on these multi-day adventures! Just wow - those morning views are always so impressive when you get that light 😍 The via ferrata routes always look so impressive (and heart-pumping!) So sweet to see the inquisitive wildlife and to give it a little snack where possible - even better if you get good luck! I think the only time I've had crampons on was when I was hiking a mountain in Bolivia - I summited Huayna Potosi - which is far and away the highest I've ever hiked to at 6,088m!! Dramatic ending... will have to watch the next episode!
Hi Loz yes this is such a varied route up Zugspitze kinda has it all in one place ice rock forest and stunning river gorges. Perfect conditions but things where not destined to go as John and I had hoped for 😔🏔️ Your climb to 6000 + meters sounds amazing (did you film this climb Loz ???) As always best wishes Simon and thanks 🙏🏼🤠
Tackling the Höllental route to the summit of Zugspitze looks like an epic adventure! It's impressive that you and John took on one of Germany’s most challenging climbs, complete with Via Ferrata sections, scrambling, and a glacier crossing. The necessary gear list alone shows how demanding this route is. Looking forward wait to see your journey and experiences in this rugged terrain of the Bavarian Alps. Thanks for sharing part one, looking forward to part two!
Thank you Simon for both watching and commenting on this adventure on the Zugspitze 🏔️🇩🇪 Definitely a challenging route with a varied set of skills needed on the climb (and this tour turned into a trip of a lifetime as you will see in Pt 2) Hope your doing well Very best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Hi Simon. Wow what a view. The path to the top is really amazing. First through the tunnels and canyon and to the open. This was a great adventure and we can't wait what happened along the way. Take care my friend and have a nice rest of the week. Sretana and Zac. 🖐😄🤗
Thanks so much 🤠🙏🏼It’s such a varied route this one Zac forest , canyon glacial moraines ect 🏔️🇩🇪👌🏻 Definitely recommend 🤠👍 Best regards to Sretana and yourself 👍 Simon
Oh Simon this sure was an epic adventure 🤠,and beautiful gorge passed the babbling broke . That sure was a climb and half ,with some difficult stages. But we'll to you and John 👌,a great stamina test indeed 👍. Best wishes Simon and Beth ❤️ 👋
Beth Simon thanks so much for coming along with John and i up the Zugspitze 🏔️🇩🇪really appreciate it and hope your having a great week 🤠👍 Best wishes lizza and Simon
The area looks so amazing - it's always a bit of a thrill seeing the landscape change as you hike and seeing mountains come into view. Yikes, cliffhanger ending! I will be definitely waiting for the next one!
Definitely is Donna seeing what flora and fauna occupy the various regions is interesting for me too 🤠👍🏔️ It’s a great route (definitely a challenge for me at least) But thanks for stopping by👍 Best wishes Simon
Hello Simon 👋. Herzlich willkommen in Deutschland 🇩🇪. That’s really amazing place and I’ve been there as well and it’s really hard for me because of some area I’m getting lost of Oxygen. But that’s really stunning and gorgeous experience. A place to visit when anyone planning to visit Germany 🇩🇪. Have a wonderful time in Germany 🇩🇪.
Your definitely right kenn Zugspitze massif is amazing and stunning 🏔️🏔️🇩🇪 Altitude can play a part from 2100 meters for some people so zugspitze is well within that and needs some acclimatisation ! The teintal valley is probably even more beautiful that this Hollental valley 🏔️🙏🏼🇩🇪 Hope your well🙏🏼 Best regards Simon 🤠👍
This is beautiful but very demanding route via ferrata and you did a great job. You need to have a lot of experience for such a challenging hike. Excellent presentation 👏👏👏
Thanks Vedrana it a steep route and breaking the climb up with a Bivvi definitely helped with the accumulation and taking some of the vertical off too An adventure this one see you in part two 👍🤠 Best wishes Simon
Wow! This is such a wonderful video to watch, the walk looks very challenging, but I would love to do it! The scenery is amazing, and so are you! Thanks for this video, I really enjoyed it. Have a wonderful week, wishing you and your family the best!!!

Thanks for visiting Soren yes definitely got to keep your Mind on the job on this route especially the scrambles away from the via Ferrata sections (fixed lines) not in the route guide them 🥹 But an amazing part of the Alp 🏔️🇩🇪 Best regards Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Hi Simon. Wow, the sunrise after your camp was stunning. It looked like a painting. The via ferrata was incredible to watch, I'd be way too much of a chicken to try that out though. Incredible views throughout. I always love watching your adventures. Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks Stacey yes the sun set and rise was superb 👌🏻 and it was so still too (perfect for the Bivvi camp ) 🏔️🇩🇪🏔️ As always appreciate the watch hope your all doing great 👍 Regards Simon 🤠🏔️👍
Hi Simon. Pretty epic adventure from the word go. The walk through the Hollental Klamm is a great intro to the climb. A bit of a disappointment to have to bivvy for the night. A comfortable stay in the hutte would have been a more comfortable springboard for the following day. I know you commented that the first Via Ferrata was enjoyable but to me the foot steps did not look in great condition. There were superb views all the way as you headed towards the glacier. It is so sad to see the retreat of these wonderful features of the landscape. We have returned to some after decades and have been so shocked to see how far they have receded even in our short lifetimes. I was enjoying the views and mentally picking the route across the still imposing looking and steep face of the remaining ice when you brought the video to that loud and dramatic conclusion. I had my phones in on full volume so that I could hear the sounds of that environment (listening out for the falling rocks & water) as well as your commentary. That did make me jump! Sure looking forward to the next section of the climb.
Thank Ivor yes an adventure this one ☝️ as you will learn (sorry for the jump ) but before the dramatic end to this film it’s just stunning isn’t (I’m a big fan of Bavaria 🏔️🇩🇪🏔️ and the zugspitze is the daddy so to speak 😀) the glacier retreat is sad and Germany lost one totally last year(it’s in the otherside of the zugspitze) But big thanks as always for your support Very best wishes to you both 👍 Simon 🤠🏔️👍
wow! the tallest mountain in Germany, and you conquered it Simon! Kudos to you! that's an epic via Ferrata and scrambling! and then you've reached the glacier and walking on it with crampons, so cool. Can't wait for the next episode.
Always nice to see you here Lino 🙏🏼 it was a great climb and turned into an adventure 🙏🏼 thanks for watching see you in the nxt episode! and give my regards to Line👍 Simon
I so enjoyed that 22 minutes Simon - flew by. Flew by because of the space - the gorge and then the Alpine. You panned around nice and slow for us too so we could get a sense of where we were. A decent little bivi I'd say but an even more decent ascent of the glacier. I thought, 'hey it's still got some small little crevasses.' Absolutely awesome range and accessible although can render you breathless. Good going-loved it. Mark
Thanks Mark always good to talk mate (yes the glacier has crevasses (some are quite deep) ) but this late in the year the glacier is known as dry (meaning it has little snow cover and is bare ice 🧊) this was a big problem as you know 🥹 But on a lighter note it was great to see the local wildlife in the valley below 😊🙏🏼good for the soul that Thanks as always for stopping by Best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️
@@SetForAdventures A pleasure Simon. It's so deceiving on camera - yeah I bet some crevasses were deep. Good the nature showed - the whole trip was soulful. Peace dude.
You can do it I know 🏔️🏔️👍🤠 But it’s a great way up Zugspitze 🏔️🇩🇪 this is the most challenging of the standard routes but also the most varied too with fixed rope sections, scrambling and glaciers to cross too! Thanks Rachel & Matt for taking a look at this Bavarian adventure 🏔️🇩🇪🏔️ Simon 🤠👍
Unbelievably wonderful landscapes and hiking, with a great video. Yes, a person is small in those landscapes. Keep up the good work, Simon 🤠 The journey continues. Greetings Moode 👣

Wow, just wow! We watched this on the big screen last night, but had to pick our jaws up from the floor before we could comment!! Absolutely unreal views, really did look like a painting ⛰️🏔❤. You guys are hardcore, that was such a looong travel day, and then bivvying down when the hutte was closed🙌🙌. That via ferrata section was nail biting, even from the comfort of our sofa!😱 The glacier was incredible! To be continued, wow, we do hope everything was okay! 😮. Blown away! Stay safe, and thank you for sharing this epic adventure with us! Shell and Pete 😊👊
Shell Pete always a pleasure guy’s super region this and for the time of year it was perfect conditions (low wind , mild temperatures and no snow (that will figure later)) the Bivvi was unexpected but just to be amongst the Alps with stars above really made up for what would of been nxt to no sleep in the Hut 🤣 But it definitely was an adventure this climb just after the canyon section John and I had to help a local climber who slipped on wet rock (cut his head open bad and passed out ) (thank goodness for a good first aid kit ) we patched him up (after he came around ) and some Austrian 🇦🇹 climbers who where coming down the Alpspitze got him off the mountain the way we had come A bad omen 🙏🏼 See you in the nxt episode 🤠👍🏔️ Best wishes Simon 🤠👍
@@SetForAdventureswow, thank goodness you guys and the Austrian climbers were there to help the injured guy. The mountains are a an awesome place, but mother nature can always catch us out, humbling for sure! 😮 🏔. We will look forward to watching the next episode! Take care, Shell and Pete
Simon this hike that you and John did was gripping from start to finish and you had lovely weather which showed it all of so well. Loved the buildings at the start and the river gorge too and the hike each step of the way was so beautiful, such an amazing place. The place where you bivvy camped looked great and the set up seemed perfect. I loved when you got the rock climbing equipment on, it was so exciting. I've done rock climbing and abseiling in the past here in North Wales and its brilliant but nothing like what you both did here. When I saw the helicopter / air ambulance I feared that John had hurt himself as it reminded me when Alf and a few mates went hiking in Llangollens Horeshoe Pass area and one friend stumbled and fell a long way down the mountain breaking his leg badly, thankfully their other friend who was a doctor was there with his first aid kit and managed to splint his leg while waiting for the air ambulance to arrive to take him off the mountain to hospital. The doctor saved our friends leg and he recovered after a year of operations. So we all know the dangers of hiking high mountains but I thinks its the excitement and challenge that drives us ! This was brilliant. Hoping all is OK with John 🙏 I'm eager for the next video. Can't leave another like but I'll give a big 👏🙂⛰️ ~ Anna
Thank you Anna yes the mountains are beautiful and if your passionate about them they kind of draw you into their beauty and charm but that blessing can turn to a curse so very quickly (the mountain always wins ) Just after the canyon section a local German climber coming down an adjacent mountain called the Alpspitze slipped and badly cut his head then passed out (John and I patched him up when he came around ) and another team of Austrians took him down the mountain 🏔️ the way we had climbed up A bad omen 🙏🏼 It was good to here how your friend was rescued and his leg was saved albeit after a long time of convalescent 🙏🏼 that is a blessing Thanks for showing keen interest we are all is fine and see you in the nxt episode 🤠👍🏔️ Best wishes to Alf and yourself Simon
@@SetForAdventures Yes the mountains do draw you in, we always say they are somehow spiritual and I agree they always win. So glad you're both OK and were able to help out the injured man. Definitely looking forward to seeing the next video👏⛰️

Hi Loz yes this is such a varied route up Zugspitze kinda has it all in one place ice rock forest and stunning river gorges. Perfect conditions but things where not destined to go as John and I had hoped for 😔🏔️
Your climb to 6000 + meters sounds amazing (did you film this climb Loz ???)
As always best wishes Simon and thanks 🙏🏼🤠
We were very entertained and enjoyed the beautiful natural beauty that you found in a very enjoyable climbing destination

Thank you Simon for both watching and commenting on this adventure on the Zugspitze 🏔️🇩🇪
Definitely a challenging route with a varied set of skills needed on the climb (and this tour turned into a trip of a lifetime as you will see in Pt 2)
Hope your doing well
Very best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Hi Simon. Wow what a view. The path to the top is really amazing. First through the tunnels and canyon and to the open. This was a great adventure and we can't wait what happened along the way. Take care my friend and have a nice rest of the week. Sretana and Zac. 🖐😄🤗

Your definitely right kenn Zugspitze massif is amazing and stunning 🏔️🏔️🇩🇪
Altitude can play a part from 2100 meters for some people so zugspitze is well within that and needs some acclimatisation !
The teintal valley is probably even more beautiful that this Hollental valley 🏔️🙏🏼🇩🇪
Hope your well🙏🏼
Best regards Simon 🤠👍
This is beautiful but very demanding route via ferrata and you did a great job. You need to have a lot of experience for such a challenging hike. Excellent presentation 👏👏👏
Thanks Vedrana it a steep route and breaking the climb up with a Bivvi definitely helped with the accumulation and taking some of the vertical off too
An adventure this one see you in part two 👍🤠
Best wishes Simon

This is almost to scary for me to watch. But it was interesting to see. The nature and landscapes are amazing 😊😊😊
Thanks for visiting Soren yes definitely got to keep your
Mind on the job on this route especially the scrambles away from the via Ferrata sections (fixed lines) not in the route guide them 🥹
But an amazing part of the Alp 🏔️🇩🇪
Best regards Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Hi Simon. Wow, the sunrise after your camp was stunning. It looked like a painting. The via ferrata was incredible to watch, I'd be way too much of a chicken to try that out though. Incredible views throughout. I always love watching your adventures. Looking forward to part 2!
Thanks Stacey yes the sun set and rise was superb 👌🏻 and it was so still too (perfect for the Bivvi camp ) 🏔️🇩🇪🏔️
As always appreciate the watch hope your all doing great 👍

Thank Ivor yes an adventure this one ☝️ as you will learn (sorry for the jump ) but before the dramatic end to this film it’s just stunning isn’t (I’m a big fan of Bavaria 🏔️🇩🇪🏔️ and the zugspitze is the daddy so to speak 😀) the glacier retreat is sad and Germany lost one totally last year(it’s in the otherside of the zugspitze)
But big thanks as always for your support
Very best wishes to you both 👍
Simon 🤠🏔️👍
wow! the tallest mountain in Germany, and you conquered it Simon! Kudos to you! that's an epic via Ferrata and scrambling! and then you've reached the glacier and walking on it with crampons, so cool. Can't wait for the next episode.

I'm running out of ways to say "amazing."😍😍😍🥰
@@recreepy thank you 🙏🏼
I so enjoyed that 22 minutes Simon - flew by. Mark
Thanks Mark always good to talk mate (yes the glacier has crevasses (some are quite deep) ) but this late in the year the glacier is known as dry (meaning it has little snow cover and is bare ice 🧊) this was a big problem as you know 🥹
But on a lighter note it was great to see the local wildlife in the valley below 😊🙏🏼good for the soul that
Thanks as always for stopping by
Best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️
@@SetForAdventures A pleasure Simon. It's so deceiving on camera - yeah I bet some crevasses were deep. Good the nature showed - the whole trip was soulful. Peace dude.
Such a beautiful spot to hike with many landmarks along the way. You both are much more brave than us. We wouldn't be able to make it past the pegs!
You can do it I know 🏔️🏔️👍🤠
But it’s a great way up Zugspitze 🏔️🇩🇪 this is the most challenging of the standard routes but also the most varied too with fixed rope sections, scrambling and glaciers to cross too!

Shell Pete always a pleasure guy’s super region this and for the time of year it was perfect conditions (low wind , mild temperatures and no snow (that will figure later)) the Bivvi was unexpected but just to be amongst the Alps with stars above really made up for what would of been nxt to no sleep in the Hut 🤣
But it definitely was an adventure this climb just after the canyon section John and I had to help a local climber who slipped on wet rock (cut his head open bad and passed out ) (thank goodness for a good first aid kit ) we patched him up (after he came around ) and some Austrian 🇦🇹 climbers who where coming down the Alpspitze got him off the mountain the way we had come
A bad omen 🙏🏼
See you in the nxt episode 🤠👍🏔️

Thank you Anna yes the mountains are beautiful and if your passionate about them they kind of draw you into their beauty and charm but that blessing can turn to a curse so very quickly (the mountain always wins )
Just after the canyon section a local German climber coming down an adjacent mountain called the Alpspitze slipped and badly cut his head then passed out (John and I patched him up when he came around ) and another team of Austrians took him down the mountain 🏔️ the way we had climbed up
A bad omen 🙏🏼
It was good to here how your friend was rescued and his leg was saved albeit after a long time of convalescent 🙏🏼 that is a blessing
Thanks for showing keen interest we are all is fine and see you in the nxt episode 🤠👍🏔️
