Thank you for researching and putting all these information for me and other younger generations who have no idea where or what Hmong people did or how they live in China years before migrating to Laos. I hope your channel is available forever for us younger generations to keep and pass on so we will not forget our ancestry and heritage. I wish you good health and good fortune for the future to come.
Watch "Rise and Fall of the Chu" by CCTV if you guys haven't seen it. Most episodes were translated to English except the last one (I wonder why). The last episode talks about how Chu was defeated but it's only in Mandarin. Evidence that suggests Chu was Hmong: -Hmong oral history often talks about a time when there were as many Hmong as there were Chinese people. -They often talk about how it was the Hmong who betrayed the Hmong that led to our defeat. -It talks about how during this time, the Chinese burnt the books of the Hmong and forbid us to use a writing system. -The Chu Kingdom had a large population, fielding armies in the hundreds of thousands, similar to its opponent who were Chinese. -Written Chinese history says Chu was destroyed by its own corruption from within when its leaders plotted against each other. -The only time in Chinese history where books were burnt was at the end of the Warring States Period. -Artifacts after the Han Dynasty don’t have the paj ntaub patterns, many artifacts before the Han Dynasty do, especially those found where the Chu Kingdom stood. -Evidence found shows the Chu had a shamanic belief system and worshipped the phoenix instead of the dragon. Even today they speak highly of Yawm Xob (the phoenix) more than the dragon (Zaj Laug). Many more but these are the ones I can remember at the top of my head.
He said the Zhou Dynasty was the Hmong. But he contradicted his own words. He said that Hmong was Miao and now Miao is Chu. It was the Zhou Dynasty who pushed Miao to Gansu because Miao helped the Shang government.

Any movie about the Chu-Han Contention, or Warring States period that references the Chu Kingdom. The titles in English might be different from their Mandarin translations. King's War (2012 is actualy on Netflix, it's a long drama about the Chu vs Han). Basically the major war between the Hmong and the Chinese before we fled to the mountains. King's War (2012) aka Legend of Chu and Han, Mandarin name: 楚汉传奇 The Last Supper (2012). Mandarin name: 王的盛宴 White Vengeance (2011), also known as Hong Men Yan . Mandarin name: 鸿门宴 The Great Conqueror's Concubine (1994), alternatively known as King of Western Chu. Mandarin name: 西楚霸王
Is Chu State actually Hmong? I’ve research online and never actually says anything about it. Also just curious, where were the Hmong people during the Tang Dynasty where many different ethnicities could have power in the government?
Over ten years ago I already concluded that Chu was a Hmong Kingdom. Now many Hmong Chinese have increasingly grown to agree that Chu was a Hmong kingdom.
Google "Warring States artifacts". Visit the Jingzhou museum in China (capital of Chu Kingdom for over 400 years was Jingzhou (pronounced jing joe, originally named chu joe until Han Dynasty took over). You'll notice that many of the artifacts from pre-Han Dynasty times have a lot of Paj Ntaub. Also note that the Terracotta Tomb from the same time period as the Chu Kingdom has zero Paj Ntaub artifacts, but when you look at the artifacts excavated from the Chu tombs, tons of paj ntaub patterns. Remember now, they just found these tombs recently, it's only a matter of time more evidence will be found to prove that Chu was Hmong. History is often written by the victor, so until China becomes more objective and less bias, we might not see this proof any time soon even if they already have it.

Yes Chinese had stated multiple time that Chu was not Chinese.
And Yes the Chu imperial Family clan name was Xiong and is well known.
He said the Zhou Dynasty was the Hmong. But he contradicted his own words. He said that Hmong was Miao and now Miao is Chu. It was the Zhou Dynasty who pushed Miao to Gansu because Miao helped the Shang government.
Won't know for sure because Xiong and Song are not the same people.
