- The Elks preseason debut was a case of close but no cigar, with the Roughriders coming away with a 28-27 victory at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
However, there were a lot of promising signs for fans entering the season. Edmonton dominated on offence and on defence, outgaining the Roughriders by a 411-191 margin, but five turnovers (one interception, four fumbles) by the Elks offence and special teams was the difference on the day.
The Elks wrap up their preseason on Friday, May 31 when they travel to B.C. to take on the Lions.

Looked like a nice place to spend the afternoon. Preseason is usually a fun and casual time to take in a game. Hopefully attendance across the board in the CFL will improve.

Well Elks looked way better this year than last. With Thompson at qb they are gonna be tough. Their Defense looked good though

Yeah, not much information provided, was there? This commentator and the colour guy were so bad--they should at minimum explain things properly when they happen right in front of them, and how about making the effort to mention the names of opponent receivers or defenders when they make plays? Just because they're opponents doesn't mean they should be nameless (and they all have them on the backs of their jerseys, so there's no excuse).

It's cause management don't care about its fans. Changing a 70 year old name. Telling 630 ched that we don't want old white guys coming to the games all the time so now we don't show up. I love the CFL but I having a hard time supporting this new team. It's a insult to call I a 75 year old team. The Eskimos where 75 years old not this team.

I feel like I'm trying to decide who I dislike more. I'm an American Bombers fan, so I dislike the Riders. Now, I support my home team the Vikings in the NFL and the Elks look too much like the Packers. Due to my prejudice, I'm sort of against them. I used to consider the Stampeders as my second team but I think I'm going Montreal for #2 and my team in the East.
