It is like that house had a turniquette around its neck for decades…and someone finally loosened it and it breathed in so much life. So glad they will get to be closer to their kids….and feel more together.
I can just watch Nate and Jeremiah all the time. The beauty of the spirits of these 2 is truly special to observe. Their relationship, their parenting and their generosity is a privilege to watch.
I had tears in my eyes watching this, and my dog got so upset seeing me like that, he came over and jumped up on my lap and leaned against me to comfort me. I had to assure him that everything was OK.
Your dog is awesome! My dogs get so confused when I cry, they try to kiss the tears away. It’s the only time they get to lick my face and I immediately feel better because it’s so adorable - dogs are such beautiful and amazing creatures!
I love how emotionally invested Nate and Jeremiah both are in their projects. They not only honor the vision of their clients, but they honor the clients themselves. Just lovely. And I appreciate that they're huggers too! 😉

Open floor plan is always a wonderful site. Children, grandchildren, extended family can see & be seen from the kitchen. No one needs to feel left out. WOW! (But the budget = another house.)
I should own stock in Kleenex😂. I start out just listening to all the ideas being exchanged and dreams formulating. With their usual sincerity and authenticity the clients reveal is overwhelming. I remember this show when it Aired too. The family traditions for generations, the tender moments of reflecting on Grandma not being able to be there but know she is, with the clients emotions running high, Jeremiah’s compassion filling up his eyes and Nate’s steady focus to guide the rudder on this reveal makes it special. Bravo 💜

I liked option #1 because you could still view the living room yet it gave a little privacy into the kitchen. It also was the cheapest of the three options. I think open floor plans look like furniture stores because there are no separation between rooms nor between the furniture.

As for looking cheap, here’s a hot tip: painting brick *always* looks cheap. Cover it if you must, but once you paint it you can never go back-that texture and character is gone forever.
Strange how parents through the 70's had no need for open concept to watch children while in kitchen. Each to their own, but living in a single room and seeing kitchen from dining room is not congruent with formal dining
They eliminated the one that I liked, a house needs a bit of mystery, so the angle provided that open feel and yet also provided some spaces to "discover".... the other ones just gave them one space that can be viewed instantly, i don't like that.....

I just replaced my dreadful kitchen counter tile with quartz last yea. Boy, whoever came up with the idea of tile on kitchen counter tops should have been run out of town on a rail...
@Dresser I think tile counters were built in many countries, often as a budget or DIY solution I think. I'm guessing tile counters were durable, heat resistant and easy to clean (?). They probably looked better than stainless steel and lasted longer than timber counters. What did you think of using tile counters in your kitchen ?
I know what I’m about to say it doesn’t have anything to do with this episode I have recently been diagnosed I’m gonna spend the rest my life in a wheelchair my house is it made for a wheelchair and I don’t know what to do right now I’m stuck in my family room I do have a ramp but it’s really dangerous and I can’t get through the door ways to get to it I’m at a loss I don’t wanna live the rest of my life in my family room if you can give me some suggestions I’d really appreciate it something that isn’t too expensive because I’m on a limited income I hope you’re having a great day and I love your show

I personally love white or whitewashed brick walls over original style - unless it's a new york loft, it just doesn't make sense anymore.
