You have made a really good video and as a local I thank you for promoting Palermo and its delicious food. Just a bit of recommendation for your next video and please take it as just a constructive feedback. Based on what I have seen in this video I have the feeling that you are not familiar with the local ingredients and do not a very sophisticated taste which would enable you to tell the difference between gorgonzola and caciocavallo/parmesan or pecorino (I assume it to be pecorino since the taste mistakenly reminds you of gorgonzola and you found it strong). The former takes origin from the north of Italy, has a different taste and consistency and would never get along well with involtino of melanzane. Also, sfincione is different from the traditional italian pizza (Margherita) and usually includes caciocavallo and/or pecorino. That some kind of sauce that you mention is tomato sauce. It is named sfincione because it reminds the consistency of a sponge (in sicilian the translation for sponge is "sfincia"/"spincia") and this is why it is thicker than traditional italian pizza. And these were only the first 6 mins of the video. For the next time try to understand what you are eating, what kind of local ingredients you are trying and the history behind that dish. I find food a great way to explain the history, culture and traditions of a place so please make an effort to learn more to share with your viewers ;)
@@igniohealingbringeroftruth9254 yes, and for a good reason! look at other countries and how much they lost over decades in terms of language, culture and food. Hey Mark, thank you very much! There is so much to see in Sicily that you're going to have to be very picky with your 4 days 😅 Personally, if you are flying into Palermo or Catania, then they both have the perfect blends of food and lots of walking, plus a few extra places to visit near both of them! @@peter4422 oh wow I must have skipped through it. thanks
It was delicious 🙌🏽
Okay 👌 enjoyed watching you both eating interesting stuff 🥴 great expressions. I will subscribe to your channel 👍🏼🙏👌
Aww thank you so much Patrick, we truly appreciate the support! 🥰
I didn't think that for a person who is not used to eating things like bread with spleen it could be so traumatic 😂 it is one of my favorite dishes ahahahahah
We have other strange parts of the animals at home (that I still don't eat) but the spleen is a little too much for us, Lorenzo! 😂 Maybe we will just have to try it again someday from a place you recommend 😅
@@TheGlobalExpats mmh, I think it's just a matter of taste and habit 😄 good to know
I love his hat 🧢- where did you get it ? The motor city
Hi Guys,
Just found your channel....great content. After viewing your content we have booked 4 nights in Sicily for late April. We plan to spend 2 nights at two different towns. We enjoy good food and lots of walking. What would you recommend?
Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Hey Mark, thank you very much! There is so much to see in Sicily that you're going to have to be very picky with your 4 days 😅 Personally, if you are flying into Palermo or Catania, then they both have the perfect blends of food and lots of walking, plus a few extra places to visit near both of them! Try and avoid any town that is a mission to get to and stay along the train lines with easy access in and out, for example, Palermo + Cefalu is a favourite pairing and easy to access 🙌🏽 We trust you guys are going to have an awesome trip 🥰
Great video! I just subscribed and i am enjoying this series on Sicily and hopefully abruzzo if you ever get there.
Thank you for your kind words, Fabio! We are 100% going to be visiting Abruzzo, I (Matteo) volunteered on an Agriturismo near Sora on the border of the Abruzzo national park. It is an incredibly beautiful part of Italy and we are very excited to be there in the near future! 👌🏽 Are you from Abruzzo? 🇮🇹
@@TheGlobalExpats Nice to hear from you. My maternal side is from Abruzzo and my paternal side is from Sicily, so I can relate to these videos. I can also relate to walking in Sicily during the middle of a hot day. I was in Abruzzo in 2014 near the national park and visited Sora for a day. As with both of you I am also a history buff. Keep up the good work ! From Canada
Amazing food you always find the best food in the market. Palermo e molto Bello. I would like to visit there one day usually I go to Corfu Greece every two years for at least 3 weeks.
That sounds incredible Carlos! I hope you get to visit Palermo some day soon 🥰
Nice video, when you go to street food it is very tradionsl cuisine, just enjoy!
Thanks Saverio! 🤗 And yes, we always try to have as many transitional things as possible, some are delicious! 😍
this is great
Thank you so much, Michele! 🥰
That was some food you both demolished 🤣 I've notice in Sicily the portion are massive ' great video guys 🇮🇹
Thanks Fred! 🤗 Hahaha we were so full at the end of it, don’t know how we managed to eat it all! 😂
@@TheGlobalExpats My first time in Sicily for my 40th birthday that was 16 years ago ' I put on a stone 🤣🇮🇹

Aww thank you so much Greta, we’re so happy you liked it! 🥰
The look on you face when you try some of the dishes says it all!
😂😂😂
Great show, I sub to this channel.
Ahh thank you so much Pierre! 🥰
Kudos you started in Sicily. I became intrigued when I finally figured out that the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, later called Naples had it out with Puedmont Sardinia.
Thanks Bryce! 🤗 Italy has such a complex and interesting history, especially Sicily! 😍
La stigghiola è buonissima😘
Speriamo di farci l'abitudine! 😅
You guys are aewsome❤❤❤
Never call it Arancino in Palermo! arancino is from Catania. In Palermo it's named ARANCINA! :-)
calm down.
Haha this bread roll was intense even to watch.. you two are very brave wow 🤯😵🤢
Hahah thanks, Yvonne 😅 It was definitely a bit much! 😂
Hi guys! Can you remember the name of the street with the fabrics and stuff?
I’m sorry but we actually can’t, Lucia 🥺 We stumbled across it by accident, when walking from the Capo market to the Vucciria market, but we remember that it was near the Capo Market! 🇮🇹
@@TheGlobalExpats great! Thank you! Keep going
Lekker guys. Enjoy your time here. Ciao from Vasto.
Thank you Shawn, we will be in your area soon! You are South African? 🙌🏽😎
@@TheGlobalExpats I’m a South African , yes. Been here for about a year now. My wife is Italian.
The waiter wanted you both. Hope you enjoy Italy!
PALERMO ❤️
The best! 😍
Nobody mentions that yes you eat the whole deep fried anchovies 😊
Basically gelato, eggplant and deep-fried potatoes (kinda spanish croquetas)were the winners 🤣
Truth be told,
veals inner parts have an “heavy and strong“ flavour ( i’m not a big fan either,no disrespect taste is taste)
Thanks for posting, your accent is soooo particular!
The sfincione is very similar to RI bakery pizza strips. Soft, fluffy, thick dough with a slightly spicy fresh tomato sauce on top. That's it.
Oh nice, thanks Natalie! 🤗🇮🇹
