The whole "rate five stars!" thing REALLY pisses me off. It is purposefully asking you to rate it well IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE BAD PART OF THE GAME STARTS. That is FUCKED UP.
clash of clans.candy crush.boom beach. All these games are greed over gameplay.and somehow they get five stars.wtf poeple thinking whene they spend shitloads of money on these shit games, sorry for my bad english
ls yu these games are built to psychologically and neurologically (in a chemical sense) get you addicted, they stimulate and dose endorphin releases just like drugs, from an endorphin-coding standpoint they have an impact on your chemical brain balance that can be as bad as hard drugs. If you asked a heroin addict to rate his drug, he'd rate it 5 stars too, because he's addicted to it.
ls yu boomb beach? WHy the hell do you need to buy anything there? Or the other 2 you said. Just get good... and you dont need to spend you mommas money kid

captainkirk265 No, Namco announced it at last year's E3, along with 15 character colour skins at $4.99 apiece, and a 'Functional Animations' Pack at $19.99!
Wait wait wait..... you're telling me A new console full retail game+any potential DLC: $60-$90 -Unlimited play -Everything unlocked or at least able to be unlocked -No timers -Generally higher quality Instead people are spending $100+ and days waiting to just tap a screen a few times? Why....just....why?
Because kids these days don't know what a true game is. They have 20-50 free pay2win mobile games on their iPads, and maybe 1-2 payed games. And 1-0 games on PC. It's really sad that they don't know what a true game is, and it really shows how stupid kids are game wise. It's really sad.
The sad part is, this sort of cow clicking Grundy pay wall stuff is starting to effect the younger gaming generation. My cousin wanted to lay my old ps2 the other day, and I suggested he play ratchet and clank UYA. He had lots of fun until he began to ask me why he has to play to unlock and buy the guns and why he can't just pay real money. I asked him why in the world he would want to do that, and he told me "because it's better". I felt sad and infuriated, so I gave him a little talk. It was horrible
+AkemiHomura93 Well like he said at the beginning. The game ask for a review score after the first starter section before you had to deal with all the crap. See 5:50.
I´m not a fan of Star Trek, nor do I own an iPad. But if I would buy a game and discover something like this, I would get really upset. Thanks for sharing Joe! This business need more guys like you!
Because someone put in any effort what so ever. Because at least there is something of a game in it. Because though the gameplay and elements was complete pigshit, the game designers who dreamed of a gaming job making great stuff was forced to make shit like this, and now forever holds their heads in shame. Because Joe knows of this and that "1" is as good of a score any worthy developers who were fucked in the ass to make this fuck with shit in it's ass game could get, and they should be proud they even got that.
0/10 means the game is unfinishable due to bugs or glitches, you did everything you could trying to see it through to the end but couldn't because it kept crashing or story/quests just downright didn't work. Star Trek Trexels IS finishable however, so 1/10 is as low as it goes. "Unfinishable because it's a bad game" is an invalid for an excuse.
The sad reality is that this kind of practice is hitting console and PC games as well. A popular example of one is GTA Online, and while I do enjoy that game immensely, one cannot deny that Rockstar clearly made everything very more expensive than singleplayer and thus you have to grind the same missions over and over in hopes you just pay for GTA dollars instead. I know some people will be furious and defend GTA and Rockstar. Considering the fact that they lowered the pay for a lot of the missions in a few recent updates, I think it shows that their main focus on GTA Online is to sell you cashcards, not play the game legitimately. I bring up GTA Online specifically because everyone seems to be okay with it, everyone talks about how GTA Online is so amazing and good despite the obvious paywalls, even if they are not as extreme as this game or mobile games in general, but does that make it okay? And yes, the DLCs are free through updates, but that still does not excuse the obvious attempt to force you to buy cashcards. I once spent an entire day doing Rooftop Rumble back when it payed 18 grand, and the money very quickly plumits with car customization, you losing money even when it is in your bank when you die, as well as ammo, forcing you to buy more and waste more money. Again, I have to stress that I am picking on GTA Online specifically because everyone seems to be okay with it, and will encourage Rockstar and other companies to do it more in the future. We need to stop this kind of crap, if we just went ONE day boycotting this stuff, they would lose a lot of money and quickly change their ways.
Oh yeah I didn't even make lvl 10 in Gta online, it was so slow I just quite and went back to single player. Im not paying for it nor do I have time to grind over and over again just to use good guns or whatever, single player is better
***** They've been announcing the heists since the game first came out, but it kept getting delayed over and over, and I think we know why. Not to mention, peope have reportedly leaked out the actual pay of the heists, and each player would get around 200 thousand dollars, which is not a lot. I've had that much money in the game and it goes by quickly. If this is wrong, please let me know and I will correct myself, but this is what I heard.
Mobile or not, this game is a perfect example of "How To Not Make A Game". (If you can even call it a game.) Microtransactions are one of the worst things that ever happened to gaming industry, one of 7 Deadly Sins of Gaming. Joe has suffered through this torture for us to see what can happen if you include A LOT of microtransactions in your game. Screw those cashsucking and wallet-raping developers that care only about gaining the money and not about making a good, you know, game.
One of the few actual IOS games that's a good game is Dragon ball Tap Battle (Japanese version the English version also known as DB legends tap battle is a cheap knock off
rub ber Dude youtubers like angry joe do not get millions of dollars you idiot, Unless you have an amazingly high amount of subscribers like pewdiepie, MOST youtube channels just make above Average wage.
I think this really shows the complete dearth of any actual games for mobile devices. Especially games created specifically for mobile devices. While there are certainly gems like Angry Birds or Chaos Rings, the majority of apps aren't even worth being called games. And the paywall in Heroes of Dragon Age really is ridiculous, but you don't notice it until map 3 or 4 when enemy groups start to be nothing but 4 combination level 30-55 epics or legendaries while all your characters are a mix of uncommon and rares which are 1-4 combines. There is simply no way to advance without hundreds to thousands of hours of farming. And maybe not even then if you are really unlucky when opening the only packs available to people who don't want to pay 20 bucks for 10 randomly generated characters. That being said, the level of money grubbing is unbelievable.
In Star Trek they have abolished money.. When Lily Sloane asked him how much the USS Enterprise-E cost to build, Picard told her, "The economics of the future is somewhat different. You see, money doesn't exist in the 24th century... The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in our lives. We work to better ourselves and the rest of Humanity." (Star Trek: First Contact)
Chris Richardson I know that, but that doesn't make it ironic that a game about star trek is capitalistic and greedy. Irony is when the intended outcome is the opposite of the actual outcome. The reason the game was made was to make money - that's why game companies usually make games. It might be ironic if the reason the game was made was to promote a Star Trek -like society where money is not an issue, but that's not why the game was made.
Thank you SO MUCH for this, Joe! You have no idea how much I've needed a review like this! I've got a bunch of casual gamer friends who love to play Freemium games on their phones, and knowing that I'm a savvy gamer, they come to me for recommendations. I try to steer them toward decent games (like Dragon Age, as you mention); however, when they come to me with games like this and I turn them down, their inevitable response is "Why not, it looks fun/is and it's free/cheap, so what's the harm if they ask for a bit more money during gameplay?" and no amount of explaining on my part can seem to convince them of why these "pay to wait and pay again" games are a bad idea and different from the good ones they love so much. Now, the next time they say "why not", I can just sit their butts down and make them watch this review. If they *still* don't understand after you carefully showed them - with your own money - why this kind of thing is criminal and bad, then my friends deserve what they get after that.
I'm so glad that Joe is doing that kind of reviews too, 'cause someone has to tell the world what is awesome and what is a total waste of money and time! Thank you Joe... thank you for all of your reviews. Keep it up and have a good day.
This stuff is just plain disgusting, it literally makes me sick to my stomach. I'm glad you did this one "for you". I'm still in disbelief that I have friends who play these sort of games religiously w/o any thought. I can name multiple that have spent more in micro transactions in "free games" than on actually buying full price retail games. And for what? They suck anyway, its literally just a time sink with the tease of progression that doesn't get you anything.
Thank you so much for this review Angry Joe :) If people are yelling at you because you made a review on this instead of something like Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag or Battlefield 4, don't listen to them. I was really thankful for this review because the practice of microtranactions in mobile games are absolutely insane. Almost every game is using them. Games should not be about paywalls and timers, they should be about the experience, the gameplay and the enjoyment factor. More f2p games need to make profit via other means such as through charging real life money for cosmetics and gifts or making it b2p like Guild Wars 2 instead of charging for materials needed to get to the next level. I hope every mobile game company sees your video and realizes their mistake, later deciding to release a game that doesn't follow the Star Trek Trexels pattern. Because microtransactions have got to stop! Its the same with f2p mmos. We need to fun mobile game or facebook that would allow us to invest our time well within it, not force us to pay to win. I have had the same experience Angry Joe did with games such as Cityville, The Avengers and Empire and Allies. This practice has got to stop!
Wait, why is people complaining. This was an awesome video. I wouldn't buy the game but I love the way he reviews his games, its just fillers for the other greater games or even practicing.
At least EA make proper games though. Sure the company has massive problems with their games that can make you wanna break everything you see(such as their awful servers and cheap ways to kill opponents in battlefield or score goals in fifa), but at least they try to make their games as good as they can be.
I hate games that do microtransactions like this. What's even more insulting is, for the money you'll end up spending on this piece of shit, you can buy some great games on Steam, or some PS3 or Xbox 360 games, or even some retro games. For the money, I can pick up GoldenEye 007 for the N64 and Metal Gear Solid for the PS1, two of the best games ever made, and I'd still have money left.
Funny you have Alma as your profile pic because the new F.E.A.R. game (F.E.A.R. Online, in alpha right now) is free to play. But I doubt the microtransactions will be this bad.
toshineon Do you mean every game (being one) after F.E.A.R. 2 or 2 in general was where you lost interest? 2 IMO is one of my favorite FPS of all time. Yes the AI is not as good and the gunplay is weaker but the variety in enemies, guns and locations (keeping it fresh) made it one of my favorite FPS of all time. I can see how F.E.A.R. 2 would be disappointing though. I am playing through F.E.A.R. 3 right now and it's so boring lol.
***** This is just words, they say "future of gaming" but they think "future of money making".Because more casual people useing phones than PC/console.The future of real gaming is e-sport, nothing else.
I appreciated this review, Joe! It seems like the closest thing we got to a good star trek game this year was FTL. Paramount and CBS Interactive are NOTORIOUS money-grabbers, I've never seen anything so bad from a huge, well-known studio. Stuff like this is going to kill the gaming industry. Not like a 1983-style crash, but something's gotta give when day one DLC and micro-transactions just murder the game like what happened here. What I saw was a fully-functional game, with some really good ideas, eviscerated by the avarice of the executives who think us fans will buy any fucking thing, then stitched back together with half-assed, not-play-tested minigames to make Paramount a quick buck.
So to buy everything is absurd, 20 dollars for costumes, 90 for all the sectors, roughly 40 for the characters themselves I'll say bout 80 bucks for premium rooms all totally to roughly 230 dollars, that's basically half of a ps4 or Xbox one, 140 more than the whole elder scrolls series from arena to skyrim (excluding spinoffs) with all DLC included. This, this is an abomination to the entire games industry and I'm afraid it's only a broodling and more will come like this.
Wow, such cash wasted on a single smartphone "game". People better know what they are getting into, cause when I go out, I see kids with smartphones play the usual ios "games" and minecraft. No 3DS or other handhelds.
Tony Davis I hate smart device games. They either suck as a game or suck your wallet dry. I personally love my 3DS and the great games on the console. I would rather daydream than play with a smartphone.
Dexter Lai Here's the thing, before smartphone and tablet games started popping up, handhelds had more 3rd party support, NOW, it's all handled into smart phone and tablet games. Heck, I wouldn't mind paying up front for the game just to get the whole game. F2P is basically an uneven double edged sword.
Joe you don't understand it's Star Trek and it's all about exploration and discovery and the developers of this title made it so that they could explore and discover the depths of your wallet and see how much people will pay for a bit of nostalgia and the Star Trek license. It's really ingenious, add it to the list of games as art.
I'm sorry, but no. Slow processes, difficult development, microtransactions, inability to regain stolen crystals from space pirates and absurdly overpriced paywalls don't make this game good.
Angry Joe, I'm gonna have to put a content ID claim on this video. That random baby laugh you used beginning at 0:16 and lasting through 0:21, is a public domain sound effect. And the public wants its money.
jayasimha reddy adventure capitalist is pretty popular it can also be found on steam. Its addicive and hell and buying anything in the game with money really isent worth the time enless you extremly impatient.
You do know FTL is a thing right? Just install the Enterprise mod and rename every crewmember to Jean Luc Piccard 1-3 and you have all the appeal of a Star Trek game you need. On sale on Steam right now!
At 3:57 I was shocked when I briefly saw my reflection in Joe's ipad and I realized that I was a camera. At best it was a moment of startled amazement. At worst it was sheer terror. For a person that lives on youtube I have to ask myself "Is that what I am?? Am I a small camera??" Fortunately Joe was nearby. He fills me with courage.
How many of these games must people play before they realize that they are pointless, all the same, and that all they do is getting you to spend more money on them than buying an actual full game designed for you to have fun? I don't even understand how someone can actually decide to spend money on these useless in-app purchases... There must be a point where someone realizes that playing these games accomplishes nothing. You just wait for stuff to happen!
In most games (greed over gameplay) there are three or four currencies. Two/three of them are possible to get. But the third/fourth (often some kind of gems/chrystals/diamonds) is extremely hard to get (if possible) and that is what they want you to buy.
This is why I like Path of Exile. It even says on it's homepage if you go to game overview that it will "never go pay to win". You CAN buy things in game, but most of it is just decorative or for show. BUT, it does have a buyable item that I wish was present in more games, when you can switch the appearance of one item and put it on another, so if you don't like the look of your sword/staff/hammer/etc, then switch it's skin for a different one! THAT kicks ass. I want that in Skyrim or Dark Souls. ANYWAY, PoE is a really fun free game and you should definitely check it out. It's even on Steam. ... Fuck, this is like spam, isn't it?
Those items that allow you to swap the appearance of other items should: 1) Not cost any money 2) Not be an item. You should simply have two equipment tabs, one for stat equips and one for visual equips.
I don't think you can get more angry than at a "freemium" game. This is great, Angry Joe keep up the awesome reviews, and thanks for keeping our wallets safe from evil space pirates!
Well..... there are a few games that use microtransactions as legitimate pay models to deliver you a good game; Path of Exile comes to mind as the most obvious example. Unfortunately this seems to actively require a publishing company to choose to not be evil douchebags. And that choice is rarely made.
The plain amount of ignorance it takes for someone to say mobile gaming can kill off consoles and PC gaming if hilarious, when someone says that I laugh strait at their face!
Exactly - one platform will never 'kill' another because there will always be a niche audience (at least in our lifetimes) who will enjoy playing on PC, console and/or mobile devices, regardless of the arrogant notion that one will 'kill' the other(s).
THIS is why people should be screaming at developers for putting micro-transactions in console/PC games, It leads to non-sense like this. People need to realize that games are rarely made by angels who only want to create great entertainment experiences. They are made by people (or at least published) who want to exploit you for as much money as possible and they will keep pushing the envelope until they get their hand slapped. The whole "don't like it, don't buy it" BS doesn't do squat to change the problem because us not buying it doesn't stop other people from buying it. It only needs to be a small minority buying tons of useless junk to convince EA/Activision/whoever that the next game needs more micro-transactions/DLC and less content available for the initial purchase. Not buying something doesn't work when you have a small collective who continuously justify these practices with each and every game. More needs to be done to slap the hands of these creators beyond not buying something and effectively screaming at a void.
Scoure: iTunes *Customer Ratings* Current Version: 4,5/5 - 825 Ratings All Versions: 4,5/5 - 825 Ratings Something is terribly wrong with those scores, I don't have any Apple-products, but you have to be able to change your rating on iTunes, right? Or could it really be so many fake accounts?
Welcome, to the wonderful world of mobile "games". Baring some exceptions, they mostly are 'click a bit, wait a lot, and this is where your credit card goes'. Some of the games are at least fun.
Seriously, you can't wait and have to pay to speed it up? I've never done that, and I have ADHD. I've had to wait for resources like in this game, but I've never used real money. Just the "crystals" the game gives for free. I've played plenty of games and all but one has in-game-purchases, yet I've never encountered a pay wall.
Nailed it, Joe. This is why I believe that mobile gaming will never reach the level of console, PC, or handheld gaming, because most of these games just nickel and dime you in order for you to play. In fact, I'd say that mobile gaming is an infectious disease that's trying to spread their fraudulent practices onto regular gaming now. Take a look at Killer Instinct for Xbox One. Free-to-play fighter? WTF? I know that KI is doing a better job with rewarding their players, but this is the start of I see as a very bad trend. And I hope to God that it's kept to a bare minimum with the more established genres in our beloved hobby. Keep up with the great videos, Joe.
I love video games, but I am hating what they're becoming... It's like if authors sold books by the chapter and book covers were $15 each instead of just $1 each... It's ridiculous and making me feel more and more ashamed to belong to such group. I would love if all games were made by gamers for gamers like they should be... but no... I have to watch as one by one my favorite companies get bought up and forced to make such horrid abominations of programming...
i heard about trexels 2 and saw a comment mentioning your video. thank you for your service angry joe. i wish gamers the world over could make laws to ban this level of micro-transaction abuse and manipulation
There's this game by the same company called Pocket Planes. It is literally just a "game" where you fill planes with passengers and cargo, and send them off to different cities. That's it. 1. Board passengers 2. load cargo 3. wait for plane to reach it's destination 4. Do it all over again! I love mobile gaming!
I like idle games that are easy to progress in and only require quick, routine checks to maximize efficiency, like Tiny Towers, a game made by the same devs and to this day is still getting updated (is even whoring on the popularity of Pokemon GO)
Pay walls are ruining games, if anyone bought an iPad for gaming they will be sorely disappointed. Unfortunately MOST mobile games on IOS are like this, there are only a handful I can think of that are even worth picking up. I own an iPad, but I use it mostly for reading, I don't play any games on that thing anymore. The games are all shallow, money sinks.
I got GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas on my Google Nexus 7 and other great titles. Its all about reading about each title before you buy. I stick to games that are actual games.
I agree, I said there were a handful that are worth playing, but 9 times out of 10 they are just paywall pieces of crap like this one. Generally speaking, if it's free to download, don't download it.
I thought it was impossible to beat EA's greed. The irony is that Dragon Age app is made by EA. I thought it looked pretty boring, so I didn't get it. This...makes that Dragon Age app look great.
I don't care if this gets 10,000 views, This one I had to do for me. I did this one because I got conned on a cool concept. I know everyone below is going to bitch about it being mobile. but.... Hyper God Of Death i have no doubt that if jim saw that comment, hed like it.
Sam Rider Then look what happened now with EA and battlefront 2, Government sees it as a casino. Times sure do change fast
How to get fun with this game:
-Don't buy it
-Buy FTL: Faster Than Light
-Get the funs
FTL is pretty much a Star Trek game that don't have Star Trek license and it says "Fuck you, Star Trek gaming license, I'm amazing and super cheap"
Raven Knight Vincent "super cheap" yea its soooooooooooo cheap (not)
***** 10 bucks is a darn cheap for a game
Raven Knight Vincent oh you meant it that way. sorry i thought you meant cheap as in very bad and rushed XD
***** Bro, take some of my scented candle. You don't buy F2P games
I lose it everytime when joe rages when his crystal got taken from the space pirate xD

His words might be harsh but actual kids should know this info.
I wish he'd do way more shitty mobile games. I also wish he'd do another Christmas special like this someday
He'd punch them
The whole "rate five stars!" thing REALLY pisses me off.
+suspectsn0thing Then there are those games that force you to rate 5 stars to get something. JUST LET ME UNLOCK IT BY PLAYING THE DAMN GAME!
Tricking the player into rating 5/5 by hiding the bad part.
Wow. This is just wrong. The developers should feel ashamed for this.
remember me?
@Turbo Charged Uh, yes it's bad. Just because other bad games exist doesn't make this one any better.
They don’t fell bad.
10:02 kills me every time. I can't get enough of it.
IKR
I thought the yellow crystal is the Dilithium until I realized it's the pink one... If it's the yellow one, it might be Joe's fault not to grab it once it appears but the pink one got sucked up right after it appears. How is that fair?

captainkirk265 It's a joke with exaggeration, lots of it. Maybe Namco will look at it and get an idea that would set the company several years back.
captainkirk265 No, Namco announced it at last year's E3, along with 15 character colour skins at $4.99 apiece, and a 'Functional Animations' Pack at $19.99!
i remember pac-man adventures in time as a free game i got in a muesli bar box for PC

And a lot of people spend hundreds of dollars/year watching pictures on a screen. They're called hobbies.
Garrus -Vakarian i know. I was just joking.
It was horrible
back here after witnessing the atrocity that is dc legends , even more expensive then this game smh
" hey kids, r any of u getting IPads for Christmas?"
"Yeah!"
"Well, if u do, don't buy Star Trek trexels, BECAUSE ITLL RUIN YOUR FUCKING CHRISTMAS!"
+Stijn Kulche get out of here. and then *giggle* =D
NO sorry
Same
I love that part
i died there. got better though
Joe gives this game a 1/10 but the android version in the Google play store it got an average of 4/5 stars from 25k users...wtf
+AkemiHomura93 Well like he said at the beginning. The game ask for a review score after the first starter section before you had to deal with all the crap. See 5:50.
+Zhab80 Good point xD
+Zhab80 Nah, i'm pretty sure a majority of those fools genuinely enjoyed this "game". Most reviews on app stores are bullshit anyway
+AkemiHomura93 It's games like these that make my proud NOT to be a mobile gamer.
Now, where did I put my 3DS?
iOS to
I´m not a fan of Star Trek, nor do I own an iPad. But if I would buy a game and discover something like this, I would get really upset.
Thanks for sharing Joe! This business need more guys like you!
Why not a 0/10.
Because 1/10 is as low as Joe goes.
AGREED MUST BE 0/10
best to be -1/10
Because someone put in any effort what so ever.
It's just like in the new South Park episode "Freemium".
One of the few actual IOS games that's a good game is Dragon ball Tap Battle (Japanese version the English version also known as DB legends tap battle is a cheap knock off
Ghost22446 yep he suffered thru this..oh wait he makes millions of dollars to do this..so he doesnt have to get an actual job..yep he is suffering
rub ber Not sure about "making millions of dollars", but you're right about suffering because this game is a mess, to put it mildly.
*cough* gta online *cough*
rub ber Dude youtubers like angry joe do not get millions of dollars you idiot, Unless you have an amazingly high amount of subscribers like pewdiepie, MOST youtube channels just make above Average wage.
South Park freaking DESTROYED fremium games in one of their latest episodes.

What's painfully ironic is how a game about Star Trek is so capitalist and greedy.
How is that ironic? You think they didn't intend to make money?
Baldur Aviation R.I.P comunisum
There's a difference between capitalism and greed, Baldur
I was going to get this game, then I watched this review and got a really great warning. Thanks angry joe for saving my wallet and time!
They suck anyway, its literally just a time sink with the tease of progression that doesn't get you anything.
basically most of "free" games on appstore will make you donate every second
100% true
Most, not all
Tyler TeamEnder um yeah I said most
+top kek a good example of a free mobile game is falout shelter
ManOfWar 117 Indeed.
I fucking lost it at the space pirate part XD
More like butt pirate
Santa Claus will claim this video for the jingle noise in the intro
Annual tradition to watch this around Christmas time.
"THE FUCKING SPACE PIRATE TOOK MY CRYSTAL" 😂😂😂
Wait, why is people complaining. This was an awesome video. I wouldn't buy the game but I love the way he reviews his games, its just fillers for the other greater games or even practicing.
Because a lot of people ant him to review AC4.
This is the most thorough, well thought out, informative, and honest review I have ever seen for a mobile game. Well Done!!
Did they spend more time working out how to fleece their customers than designing the game?
Yes, greedy bastards
A lot of developers do that lately. *Cough cough* EA *cough.*
At least EA make proper games though. Sure the company has massive problems with their games that can make you wanna break everything you see(such as their awful servers and cheap ways to kill opponents in battlefield or score goals in fifa), but at least they try to make their games as good as they can be.
Andrew Ryan EA dosen't makes games my friend.
Yes they do, my friend
I hate games that do microtransactions like this. What's even more insulting is, for the money you'll end up spending on this piece of shit, you can buy some great games on Steam, or some PS3 or Xbox 360 games, or even some retro games. For the money, I can pick up GoldenEye 007 for the N64 and Metal Gear Solid for the PS1, two of the best games ever made, and I'd still have money left.
Funny you have Alma as your profile pic because the new F.E.A.R. game (F.E.A.R. Online, in alpha right now) is free to play. But I doubt the microtransactions will be this bad.
zombieowner66666 I pretty much lost the interest in F.E.A.R. after the second game. I feel that they kinda screwed it up after that.
toshineon Do you mean every game (being one) after F.E.A.R. 3 right now and it's so boring lol.
zombieowner66666 After the 2nd game, 2 itself was awesome.
toshineon And also the fact of the 3rd fear not being scary at all since it's hard to be scared if you're just a walking fucking machine of death
This is why mobile gaming/ iOS gaming is NOT the future of gaming. Loved the video Joe, Merry Christmas :D
***** This is just words, they say "future of gaming" but they think "future of money making".Because more casual people useing phones than PC/console.The future of real gaming is e-sport, nothing else.
1:33 "Greed over Gameplay" Unfortunately, that is a problem with the entire video game industry these days-not just mobile games.
I think the new Dungeon Keeper is Trexel's spiritual successor :3
EvilDoresh hell yeah
Preparing for Christmas 2020 by watching this :D
Same.
Merry Christmas Joe, all the best!
Tony Davis
I hate smart device games.
I'm from the future, you were correct.
Joe you don't understand it's Star Trek and it's all about exploration and discovery and the developers of this title made it so that they could explore and discover the depths of your wallet and see how much people will pay for a bit of nostalgia and the Star Trek license.
It's really ingenious, add it to the list of games as art.
X'Elias of Rivia the microtransactions
I'm sorry, but no. Slow processes, difficult development, microtransactions, inability to regain stolen crystals from space pirates and absurdly overpriced paywalls don't make this game good.
@@WarbossR0kt00fSant0s bro it was sarcasm
@@WarbossR0kt00fSant0s You’re a smart one
I like watching angry joe's reviews. It's nice to see other people on UA-cam with their own opinion. Still love this channel no mater what
his opinion is the only one that matters
Angry Joe, I'm gonna have to put a content ID claim on this video. That random baby laugh you used beginning at 0:16 and lasting through 0:21, is a public domain sound effect. And the public wants its money.
Never touch mobile games....never!!!!
+jayasimha reddy Actually if you look well you can find really good games on Mobile.
Sorrowthewolf210 Yeah...I got bored of them after 10min
+jayasimha reddy then you dident find a good one
Robert Harris That depends on what you think is good!
jayasimha reddy adventure capitalist is pretty popular it can also be found on steam. Its addicive and hell and buying anything in the game with money really isent worth the time enless you extremly impatient.
Jesus Christ this was 9 years ago.
H-how is it been a decade already..
Time is the enemy......
I got the bioshock trilogy for less than you can buy the original star trek cast in this game...
good lord, good thing we have joe to warn us about games like these.
Biggles
Not rly, this game wasn't any "HEY, IM GAME OF THE YEAR, BUY ME!". Which means, not even I knew about it and you're so afraid of losing 4$? Rly?

Guilty Crow He's a mindless sheep, its ok since its only $4, he can waste it away while the smarter people see the bigger picture.
you forgot jontron
I think it's interesting that Joe dubbed 10:00-10:09 because if you look at the reflection he doesn't say anything
And people thought at some point that the 3DS was doomed because of mobile??? lol mobile gaming is literally cancer. Ugh.
Watching Joe rage is always fun.
So any content is always nice.
Like a wise man always said:"There are three things neccesery to play a mobile game:money, money and last but not least...money.
I just realized... Fallout Shelter is this game done correctly!
Joe's best work is when he is really mad!
You do know FTL is a thing right? Just install the Enterprise mod and rename every crewmember to Jean Luc Piccard 1-3 and you have all the appeal of a Star Trek game you need.
On sale on Steam right now!
He's reviewed FTL.
FTL is awesome !!
WE ALL FUCKING LOVE YOU MATE! DONT STOP MAKING THESE AWESOME FUCKING VIDS!!!!!
It's ironic that Star Trek is (as far as I know) based in a post-scarcity economy, and here we have a game that relies on IAPs.
I bet your dad's a phone too!
I smell EA.
do i smell a racist??
Nope you smelt CBSI the guys how own gamespot and giantbomb
Did... did Joe get a new haircut?
I blame GooTube, they claimed his original cut!
funniest part at 10:03 when joe loses the crystal and you can hear him roar "Goddammit!" at the end, fucking hilarious !!!
G.O.G (Greed Over Gameplay) still going on to this day and year
Ferengi:WRITE THAT DOWN,WRITE THAT DOWN!
@@Blue_Shamu_GamingYeah, the mobile game economy is secretly run by the Grand Nagus.
Those items that allow you to swap the appearance of other items should:
1) Not cost any money
2) Not be an item. You should simply have two equipment tabs, one for stat equips and one for visual equips.
GeorgeMonet I agree, kind of like terraria
I don't think you can get more angry than at a "freemium" game. This is great, Angry Joe keep up the awesome reviews, and thanks for keeping our wallets safe from evil space pirates!
It's not even freemium, they charge you to get the app.
andscifi
Paymeeium - or Pay to Pay. Something like that :3
HELL!! What's the song at 11:00??? It hears amazing!
Nobody likes microtransactions Joe. We feel your pain.
I'm more sick of game companies releasing the same fucking game over and over. How many versions of Street Fighter 4 do we fucking need CAPCOM!.
Well..... there are a few games that use microtransactions as legitimate pay models to deliver you a good game; Path of Exile comes to mind as the most obvious example. Unfortunately this seems to actively require a publishing company to choose to not be evil douchebags. And that choice is rarely made.
I'm pretty sure I'd watch your reviews regardless of what games you review.
Shame that a Star Trek game would be so mired by greed.
More needs to be done to slap the hands of these creators beyond not buying something and effectively screaming at a void.
dude I choked on my food when the space pirate took ur crystal. deadly laugh hahah

Joe, you have to do another review in this fashion. This stuff was funny (and informative).
Oh damn....You're going to get a Content ID match for those bells.....I hear Santa is a prick when it comes to copyrighted infringement.
Awesome review. Happy new year and all the health and happiness to you Joe :)

Ah, is good to see Angry Joe back to his former glory (being angry). This was a nice "present".
Merry Christmas Joe!
I still come back to this sometimes. AJ sure has some great historic reviews.
At least we still have the games from indie developers.
MSKproductions123456 And I still have Larian Studios. But almost everyone from my childhood was bought up by EA... I miss Bullfrog...
TrueWOPR Yeah, Bullfrog was great.
i heard about trexels 2 and saw a comment mentioning your video. thank you for your service angry joe. i wish gamers the world over could make laws to ban this level of micro-transaction abuse and manipulation
There's this game by the same company called Pocket Planes. It is literally just a "game" where you fill planes with passengers and cargo, and send them off to different cities. That's it.
1. Board passengers
2. load cargo
3. wait for plane to reach it's destination
4. Do it all over again!
I love mobile gaming!
Woo!
Yep free. But if you ever. Ever wanted to unlock every plane every city you would either have to play 22 years, or buy it all
I like idle games that are easy to progress in and only require quick, routine checks to maximize efficiency, like Tiny Towers, a game made by the same devs and to this day is still getting updated (is even whoring on the popularity of Pokemon GO)
This world would be better off if smart phones and ipads had never been invented.

Hello Joe. "m from Poland, and i can't speak english very good... I just wanna say. Poland is with you, Joe. We will fight for your money.
If all else fails try emulating games, like pokemon for instance
for sure, emulation is one of the better parts of a touch screen, once you get use to it it's quite enjoyable. Especially for RPGs
The only game I remember using to kill time with was Temple Run. I remember having highscores of 8 000 000. I just had so much time to kill...
What is the music at around 11:30 ?
I come from the future. These practices become the norm in gaming.
Joe should really do more ios reviews. Not like full review but they could be side reviews if he needs more time for larger game reviews.
This game makes EA look subtle in terms of paywalls
I thought it was impossible to beat EA's greed. The irony is that Dragon Age app is made by EA. I thought it looked pretty boring, so I didn't get it. This...makes that Dragon Age app look great.
Volmaaral Dovahkiin now this piece of s__t has gone to far its making EA look good
