  • We made a Best Canadian Figure Skating Moments video last week without including Patrick Chan. We're righting that wrong by making a list dedicated to the King. Get ready to revisit his Phantom of the Opera skate, his national titles and his world championship wins.

You're absolutely right buddy. Why do people say that is PCS are inflated every time he has a rough time technically in his program? I mean you have to sort of reflect the mistakes in the second mark but his mistakes didn't cancel out his grace, speed and quality edge work and his presence on this ice.

Love Chan. The emotion, artistry. That's why I watch skating. To feel something enhanced by amazing jumps. Only second to Joshua Farris for me.

I'm surprised you guys didn't include 2008 nationals in Vancouver. Paddy literally had the entire arena on their feet with a minute left in his programme. I was with 3 friends who do not follow the sport and they were all in tears. it was his arrival.

praıse be unto Almighty God, nowadays a lot of youngsters have emanated and they skate perfectly well.Almighty God , opened a new artistic era with Alexai Yagudin, then we saw Brian joubert and lambiel..then Patrick sprung up.2012,2013 TEB,2015 and 2016 was the golden era of sweetheart Chan.Javier fernandez was superb at 2016 worlds.Natah Chen, a quad legend..brillliant teen.but, JOshua faris was a good skater also.ı dont appreciate huzuru hanyu because he depends only on a medal.God bless us all.

Chan was never a favourite of mine, outside of his basic skating skills. It was too bad he couldn’t consistently deliver the jumps. I think his coach jumping really hurt him.,,,,,,and Phantom of the Opera should never be skated by anyone , ever again. If you want to see true originals, do a segment on Toller Cranston.

    • @cherr6694

Tbh, jumping is not everything for a skater, at least he did well in his era and left a legacy in the history of this sport. 😌 Apparently, the void Chan left in the men field of Canada is now a serious problem for Skate Canada and even Sadovsky, the 2020 national champion is struggling while representing Canada in 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy (extremely lucky to get that Olympic spot, :) he did not even rank high enough).

@@garysimmons1485 They have had enough! Three seasons since 2018, and no single skaters have ever ranked in the top 5 at Four Continents and World. Terrible development strategy from Skate Canada as well as their skaters. Knowing how to jump, still do not know how to do the step sequence as well as gain speed during the performance, along with weak spinning and also, weak skating skills. What a package! Too many "Wake-up calls" right there.
